Was it when we failed to get Asomougha? Was it a certain loss? or was it a certain play? For me it was when we failed to get Nnamdi. I felt we would be legit SB contenders with him and when I heard he wasnt going to NY I just got a really bad feeling about 2011 and had no expectations and didnt expect to repeat anything close to what we did in 2009 and 2010. When did you feel it was going the wrong way?
For me it was when we had the chance to take the lead in the division but dropped the game against the Pats. Up until then I had a good feeling (not SB good but playoffs for sure good), after that I felt less likely...Raiders game and Broncos game get honorable mentions though.
It was so up and down it happened 3 times. After the first Patriots game, the second Patriots game and the Eagles game.
Jets never should have pursued Aso. They could have easily signed Jonathan Joseph and then they would have had the best CB tandum in the NFL.
That was a setup by the league and understandable. While disappointing, it wasn't until the Philly blowout that we seemed destined to miss the playoffs...not that I ever expected us to go very far.
The first moment I worried a bit was when rex threw his headset in the first qtr of the 1st preseason game. It sounds dumb but I get him doing that when we lost the title game, this showed me he was really frustrated and it was early so I had concerns. I still thought we'd make the playoffs and have a good year. The next time was the Philly game where we got thrashed. The 3 game losing streak early I understood and never was worried but the Philly game really ended it.
I certainly did not feel good about the season at that point, but I still had hope that when Mangold got back, the OL would steady and Sanchez might pull of some good performances. So when I really came to the conclusion the season was in trouble was because of the second loss to the Pats. The chance to go to first place in the division, show the win against NE in the playoffs was the real deal and not the first loss, and maintaining a chance to get a first round bye. All that became either lost or suspect with that loss, and of course the loss also was one of five in the last eight - bad way for a supposedly playoff quality team to end the season.
As soon as Jim Leonhard missed that tackle in the endzone allowing the Broncos to convert on third down.
