Pats overpayed for a guy who didn't contribute very much this year. Unless of course that $4 million bought them state secrets. The team was smart to see a player on the down-side of his career and let him walk. That being said, the money we saved by not signing Ellis should have been used elsewhere.

 

I'm not upset with what he said,it's the truth. But i hope he doesn't think it would be any different in NE. Go ask Seymour or Ty Law.

 

14 tackles and 1 sack is production that deserves the veteran minimum.

 

This is the part that got me a little pissed at the Jets.

 

He produced 1 sack.... 1 SACK! Tannenbaum was right on the money when evaluating what he had left in the tank. If the Pats are in the SB it's certainly not because of Ellis.

Did Ellis contract put the Pats in salary cap hell?

 

The concept of overpaying is paying more money than the production you received. It's okay to say the Pats overpaid for Ellis. Nothing wrong with criticizing your team. Like the trade for Haynesworth, bad move. Trade for Ocho, bad move. Didn't really slow you guys down at all, but bad moves.

 

The Pats paid Ellis close to 300k per tackle. Oh yeah, and 'professionalism.'

 

It wasn't about acquiring Ellis' services.

It was about turning another Jet and brainwashing them into a hater.

Very similar to the plot of Homeland on Showtime.

 

I agree, Haynseworth and Ocho were bad moves.

On the other hand, you can never have enough quality depth on the DLine. Ellis was never going to be a starter or impact player on the Pats. The $4MM was well worth what Ellis brought to the Pats this year.

 

And the Jets paid Mark Sanchez $1.875MM per win.

So they told him he wasn't going to start, and also told him they were going to pay him the vet minimum, and yet they didn't "tell me the truth up front"?. Sorry Ellis, you were not worth 4 million. I almost forgot he ever went to the Pats, much like Victor Hobson, Chris Baker, etc.....

 

You are equating wins that take 22 starters to individual stats.

 

Mark Sanchez is 1 player on a team that is accountable for wins and losses. Shaun Ellis is accountable for his own stats. Terrible comparison. Again.

 

Is Ellis new to the NFL or something? Its a business; he was lucky to spend 11 years with the same team (which is almost unheard of outside of a franchise QB).

And yes, Tanny made the right call; Ellis may have only made $4 mil, but his production wasn't even worth $4 mil.

 

Then will we here the end of how great Sanchez is because he has 4 playoff wins?
