He even took a dig at Big Ben at one point.... Nice to see that he's confident that he will be healthy come April but we'll see what happens....he better be prepared to receive just a $1 mil/1 year Show-me-that-you-can-still-contribute contract considering what happened with his previous team...
I'd love to see him back. The question is, would we be better off with his production numbers compaerd to Burress. The article definitely shows the head he has on his shoulders means well, even if he has made some mistakes. It's how you learn from those mistakes............
They never should have let him walk to begin with, IMO the biggest mistake of the offseason wasn't letting Ellis walk or Woody retire. It was not bringing back BE. The guy produced and had his head on straight on the field and the FO screwed it up.
I would love for the Jets to actually get BE back AND Keep Burress if only for his Red-zone effectiveness. I recall LTJF's comment on having Both Braylon and Burress fight for the #17 and not to use guns or something....lol.
As interesting as this would be, it would also make it very doubtful that we drafted a mid rounder this year, which I think we absolutely should (ie Gerell Robinson)
He said he's never been a cancer to a locker room. Pretty sure he has kept up with this mess. Subliminal Message. He wants back ! Sign Him in April.
It was like he was reborn playing here, I have a former co worker who was a big Browns fan and he hated Edwards when he got to NY. I think it was the Dolphins game last year when he went crazy and this guy was like, that fucker never played like this for us.
If you look at some of the more successful teams, they have been stockpiling talent at the wideout position for years in anticipation of the rules changes. Steelers, Patriots, Giants, Packers, etc. Yes, they have better quarterbacks, but you give most of those QBs this 2011 Jets receiving corps and their numbers likely drop significantly. You bring back Braylon and keep Pistol Plax, it doesn't mean you don't grab another slot man to pair with Kerley I'm the mid rounds. The middle of the field is becoming prime real estate, if people haven't noticed.
There are a good number of us on this board who never wanted him to leave. The Jets made it readily apparent early on that Holmes was the #1 priority, prolly for no better reason than, as someone mentioned in another thread, Rex had to watch Holmes tear up his Ravens D on a regular basis. Braylon's quotes echo the exact things I've been saying all along, he never has been a bad teammate or employee. Plenty of us in our 20's have gone out and gotten drunk and done stupid shit. But none of us can stretch the field like he did when he was here. Maybe letting him go was the right choice after all. Tanny the mad genius strikes again, sacrificing a season of his services for something in the neighborhood of $5 millon/year (his '11 Jets price tag vs. his '12) savings. Not to mention the little bit of extra humility he may have after going through the ringer. Now its time to follow through with the plan and...SIGN THIS BEAST (provided he passes the physical).
Isn't that supposed to be the purpose of Santonio "Slant" Holmes and the TEs. I'd rather go for a deep guy to replace BrayBray in 3 or 4 years.
Outside the hashes is becoming no man's land if the current trend continues. Belichick, may he burn in hell, has drawn a blueprint to stay a step ahead of teams that are stockpiling cornerback talent for the same reasons. The Jets would be smart to pay attention. Holmes could be a very good slot man if his ego would allow it, but it won't, and even if he stays for 2012, I sincerely doubt it is for more than a season. The Jets need another slot man and they need a bruiser TE that runs good routes, has good hands, and doesn't go down like he was just shot by a high powered rifle at first contact.
Can Patrick Turner be that other receiver? Anyway I said last year that they should have tried to keep both Holmes and Edwards together. I think this team can be dangerous if we can re sign Burress and sign Edwards. On paper that could be the best recieving core in the league. Edwards as the deep threat, Holmes as the yac guy, Kerley in the slot and Burress as the redzone target.
If I knew that, I'd have access to the Jets practice field. I don't want Burress back. His legs are dead. He wasn't quick or fast to begin with, but now he is a turtle with long legs. If the surgery that Braylon underwent is not too debilitating, I'd rather him than Plax. Turner may be a decent player, but we need another receiver than can cut hard routes between the hashes.
Because they are now on desperation mode at wide receiver and their quarterback is getting sniped at by the 2 Live Crew they chose to receive his passes. Familiarity means a lot and Braylon was at least civil with Sanchez.
