If I got my pick in before Mambo, I would have made Upshaw a Bill....that was the OLB I hinted to earlier before.

Buffalo has to be our biggest competition for Upshaw. Kansas City, Arizona, and Dallas are the teams between them and us that run a 3-4 and they have bigger needs.

Im hoping they lose Stevie Johnson in FA and jump on Floyd at 10. Sorry BakerMaker but its our best shot at Upshaw!

That's the receiver I had the Bills "reaching" for in my latest mock that I mentioned earlier. It sounds like the Bills may decide not to extend Johnson.

No please don't do that...don't want to get a Bills jersey. They stole Smith, no need to take Floyd.

Then again Revis vs Floyd is pretty dang good and a matchup Revis should win so he'd negate Floyd. Floyd can damage NE and MIA all he wants. :drunk:

One of my guys was Kirkpatrick, with the intention of sliding him to safety. I know that's a dangerous pick to make with a 1st rounder, but in terms of drastic decisions it would be justified by the need to stop Gronkowski. Our best options at safety in this draft are borderline CB/S anyway, so a top ten caliber CB with size and strength would really intrigue me.

I understand that. Either Kirkpatrick or Jenkins will more than likely be there. I would not move up for a RB if I am the bengals gm. It is just not worth it. After looking at the draft from a bengals perspective it is much better for them to stay put and address other needs.

That would be a huge risk with a 1st Rd pick. I understand your thought process and thinking out of the box....I'm just a little too conservative to risk it and pass on CU.

Thats one of the guys i was thinking of as well. Its definately risky. but if it works out, we win big time. If not, then we have too many CB's, and 1 of them probably gets traded in a year.

The guy who I might take for CHI I don't think WW85 is a big fan of but he makes sense after I add this little tidbit after I make the pick.

Then again you never know what Mambo and SD will do...

I hope Upshaw falls that far, he would fit perfectly.

People gravitate toward one extreme in Calvin Pace, others to Harrison/Woodley. Not being the fastest or greatest pure rusher doesn't mean he can't still be an effective 34 OLB in every facet...

I had a feeling that San Diego/Mambo would take WW's boy... and I might as well use his name now: Whitney Mercilus.

This was conversion is probably the best out of any (e.i. some OLB that is undersized for a 4-3 and fast enough to run a 4.3 at the combine (no naming of any players undrafted) to SS and all those crazy ideas flying around). I was throwing this idea around a little while ago, and think that it would work due to Kirkpatrick’s size, tackling ability and physicality. But like WW85, taking a “risk” on converting him to safety might not be an acceptable choice if other players at the positions of OLB, OL and even WR are available.

Plus, I expect or at least hope that we sure up the safety position mostly through FA so I dont expect us to target a Safety in the 1st or 2nd really... But anything can happen.

there is no doubt in my mind Upshaw will be a fantastic all around OLB. I just want that relentless pass rusher, and Upshaw just isnt that guy. Upshaw would be the perfect player for a lot of teams. I just want a guy who is told go after the QB every play and will terrorize opposing offenses even when they try to stop him.

I don't know... one thing is sure, Upshaw certainly doesn't have any wow factor. Well coached and tough kid but I don't think he has the elite physical skills needed to be a star at the NFL level. Good player yes but that's about it...
