Well why doesn't Namath get up off his sofa/couch, go to Jets training camp(where Rex has repeatedly said that he's welcome to attend any and all Jets meetings), and offer to give Sanchez the help he needs to be a better QB? Why not do that instead of just sitting down behind your computer on youtube talking about what's wrong with the Jets and what should be done in his opinion....yadda, yadda, yadda...?
You are so mean. But seriously...Rex did say that he was welcome to come down. The fact that he hasn't says that he is more concerned with other things besides assisting Mark Sanchez.....
Maybe if he played QB or played in NY or won a superbowl.....maybe then people would be talking about him after 50 years too.
C'mon man. You gotta get a clue. Cannon was a good player for the league's duration. He scored 5 touchdowns in a game against the Titans/Jets. At least do some research.
The show was absolutely great. I became a Jets fan when I was 12 or so (1972) because of Joe and loved to watch him play (when he could). Man, he could zip it. Calling plays at the line of scrimmage against the Colts in the Super Bowl - imagine that!
The show was very well done. I didn't realize that Namath was at Alabama when they integrated. I liked what he had to say about that chapter in history. The guy is still the stuff of legend because he made one guarantee and he was instrumental in making it happen. Namath didn't lose his team in '68.
C'mon man. Stop it. You wrote, "...Whether it was being the first major college star to go to the AFL, or..." I then corrected you and stated that Namath was hardly the first major college star to go to the AFL. Cannon won the '59 Heisman if I'm not mistaken. Namath didn't win the Heisman. Maybe it would have been better if you wrote "and" instead of "or."
So is this why Mark Sanchez goes to Broadway plays and does feminine photo shoots? To be like Broadway Joe? lol
He's 68 years old. If he wants to spend his time with family and on himself instead of playing football tutor you really can't knock him for it. He'll always have an opinion on the Jets because he is and always will be a Jet, but he doesn't owe us any coaching. Regarding the program, I thought it was well done and really enjoyed it.
Yeah...pretty much. Mickey Mantle was my childhood idol. My world revolved around him & the Yankees. Years later, I was working as a cameraman/floor manager on a test commercial for a beer company. It was Mantle, Whitey Ford and Billy Martin and me in a small studio. After working all morning, they called lunch. I ran and got a baseball that I happened to have at work. I wanted my idol Mickey Mantle to sign it. I approached the three of them standing together and asked Mickey if he would sign the ball. He rudely ignored me and turned to Whitey and asked where they should have lunch. Billy Martin took pity on me and grabbed the ball from my hand and said he'd sign it. As he spun the ball in his hand looking for a spot to autograph it, he noticed the one other signature on it. Oh shit...Reggie Jackson had been in the studio a few months before and had gladly signed the ball for me. Billy said "I can't sign this!"... I said something like "C'mon...it'll be cool". Laughing, he signed it and the three of them left for "lunch". Two hours later they came back so toasted the rest of the shoot was called off. I still have that baseball. There are only two names on it.
Great show, Namath may not have been the best ever, but he got the most pussy out of any of the Super Bowl QBs ! After watching a show like that, I'm proud to be a Jets fan! I'm definitely a Namath fan.
I disagree with you. He's sitting there wondering why the Jets don't like him anymore after trashing them(whether he was right to do so or not isn't the point). 68 Years old you say? Tom Friggin' Moore was at a Jets Practice as a CONSULTANT!! And that guy is a billion years older than Joe. The way you said his age it's like he was too old to provide any help which is ridiculous. If Broadway Joe wanted to truly assist the NY Jets(in particular, Mark Sanchez), he would've went to the Jets and done so. The Jets would not turn him away if he asked and if they did, then they're the ones who look bad and Joe looks like a Million Bucks in retrospect. Thus far, there's no evidence(aside from that episode of Hard Knocks) that Joe has made any effort to assist the Jets in any way. All he did was criticize, criticize, and criticize some more from his computer on youtube and through different media outlets(although, to be fair, he answered the questions he was asked and wasn't exactly seeking the reporters out). Now all that said.....I think it's a JOKE and a DISGRACE that Joe doesn't have an OFFICIAL POSITION within the Jets Organization considering his Iconic status. I mean if Tom Freakin' Moore could get a job as a Consultant, shouldn't the Franchise's *ONLY* ICON have some place in that organization, too? Rex, Tanny, and Especially WOODY need to do something about that......
