It isn't fantasy numbers, you can be clutch without being good, look at Tebow as an example.
A better all around QB completes more passes for more YPA and converts more first downs, that leads to more points, more TOP and less pressure on the defense, meaning you don't need comeback wins because you hold leads and win more games.

The Jets play so many close games despite usually having an excellent defense because their offense doesn't produce on a consistent basis. (this is particularly true of 09 and 10). Sure Sanchez has led them back to win some of those games, but a better QB wouldn't be in the situation to begin with.
To argue that despite all statistical evidence Sanchez is a top QB is just narrative, you want it to be true so you select those few memories which fit your narrative, but ignore the facts which show it to be false.
We lost 3 games that year in which the defense gave up 10 or less points.

I never understood this infatuation with RANKINGS. I mean they change so frequently...

I'd much rather go with his stats from year 2009 to now :

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/9269

QB Rating - increasing from year to year
    Completion % - steadily increasing
    Passing Yards - increasing
    Yards per game - increasing
    TDs - increasing

Hell...he even increased his RUSHING TDs this year as well.

INTs went up unfortunately so he has to do a better job at that this year.

One glaring difference is he got sacked more....try...A F'N LOT! I hate you, Wayne Hunter.

We didn't lose a first round pick which is why it wasn't included. We swapped ones, then we had to throw in a second and a few scrubs. Get it?

    Two reasons:
    1. Rankings adjust for the fact that some years (like 2011) offenses are better across the board and as such almost every player improves his numbers. for example 5000 yards used to be considered essentially unapproachable, something only 2 men had ever done, this year 3 QBs did it, and a 4th came only 67 yards short.

    2. We were discussing whether Sanchez was above average, hence comparing him to other players to see if he was better than the majority of them

Ofcourse stats don't tell the story, look at the top 10 qbs in stats guess they are terrible and Sanchez is the best.

Thank you, Mark needs a chance. However, he should be put on notice that Greg is in competition this year for the job.

Less memorizing when Les Miserables is playing, and more studying Tony's playbook. PLAYBOOK NOT PLAYBILL.

    Go JETS!!!!!!

before everyone sends sanchez packing , I think everyone should compare him to the quarterbacks we have had. If you look all the way back to joe willy one of the best passers of his time, his best year i believe he had more interceptions then touchdowns. The rest of them richard todd, ken obrien, and the rest of the bunch have not fared to well. and they all actually had recievers. imagine if sanchez had, al toon wesly walker, chrebet, keyshawn .any of them instead of pot boy and the old fart, jailbird. the steelers let them both walk for a reason. Just search ny jets quarterbacks stats. I think some people might change there opinion. I have seen allot of turds through forty years of watching the jets, sanchez is not one. He is young, put some pieces around him. If he had calvin johnson everyone would be singing a different tune , just throw the ball anywhere near him and he makes a play, our recievers need it placed perfectly in there numbers and then they still drop it. Our recievers run a route and stand there,do they try to adjust and get open ? heck chrebet ran around in circles if he had to, and vinny would find him. sorry for the rant, just tired of the sanchez bashing , i lived through the kotite years the deez and does guy. 8and8 would have been like winning a super bowl back than.

Sanchez will have to start at square one like anyone that is brought in to compete with him.

This year, he will have to earn it with a healthy McElroy waiting in the wings.

This thread also illustrates why people will <100 posts shouldn't allowed to start threads. I know it is the offseason, but damn, these ridiculous Madden-esque topics and theories are getting out of hand.

Im wondering if you nycjunc and MExicanjet and Joewillieshoes are the same account, neither of you can get off Sanchez's dick no matter how bad he plays. Guess a scrub will always have his groupies even when hes out of the league and doing something boring with his life.

You're really asking for it, aren't you?

One person I never mess with from what I heard based on his reputation is JoeWillieWhiteShoes(I think that's his name if I recall). He has more knowledge in his pinky than you have in your entire brain.

Let's say the Jets bring in a veteran, free agent, QB. For the sake of argument, let's say they sign Campbell.

Do they say it's an open competition in training camp and the preseason, or do they declare Mark the starter from day 1? Obviously it's different with McElroy. Mark would be the guaranteed starter I'm sure. Just wondering how they would handle that.

It'd be nice if you posted something of substance, or even showed you at least have a little bit of football knowledge. Always the same shit with you. Basically anyone who doesn't want to give up on a 3rd yr qb who's gotten statistically better each year is a groupie on sanchez's dick, about right?

I think you tell sanchez he is the starter unless Campbell outplays him.
You tell the media Sanchez is the starter for now. If Campbell's/Sanchez's is deserving of a switch, we would not hesitate to make a decision we think would improve the team.

Honestly, you alone are the epitome of why Jets fans get a bad rap. GOD you are fucking stupid. You just dont get the sport, dont you? Its kin of sad that someone can use such strong words and not know a damn about what he’s talking about.

Kurtthejetfan’s signature should be a shout out to you- "There is more to the game, more to winning and losing, and other things to discuss than the Quarterback position”

Its actually quite true if you think about it even for a millisecond. But thats asking much when it comes to you and football I see.

Obviously anybody who is unwilling to throw in the towel on a 3rd year QB who has shown a lot of promise is “on Sanchez’s dick”, you didnt know that??????? C’mon! Get with the show!

Yup Sanchez the great got us to the playoffs last year right?

And in Jason Campbells last 3 full seasons he has been miles better then Sanchez's while being on terrible Oakland teams. He will also save us a ton of cap space. So don't shit on Jason Campbell while the guy your defending is worse then him.
