I'm not so sure that Bridge hasn't been completely burned by now, Joe....

I have no problem with him being as critical as he wants to be. I'm sure he's a passionate fan that wants to see the Jets win as bad as the rest of us.

They are only his opinions of which he is certainly entitled to. Why should be say everything is good or great when they clearly are not?

I think Namath is very interesting to listen to and has made a lot of valid points. It's a shame the Jets hierarchy never made any attempt to hire him as a scout.

George Steinbrenner was always very respectful to the great Yankee players and always found jobs for them somewhere in the system.

I'm more of the opinion of "Talk is Cheap; Show me something".

If Joe sees what's wrong with Mark, he should get in contact with him and work with him on correcting his QB flaws.

He's never coached a team so he can't advise Rex on anything but he was a QB so he could help Mark out.

He was spot on with everything he said this year.

Rex totally lost control of the team and he consistently overrated both the Offense and Defense.

Even after all that, at 8-5, they just needed 2 wins against teams that were all .500 or below -- and they lost all 3.

The season was a disaster and Rex and Mike Tannenbaum deserve 99% of the blame, with the players getting 1%.

At this point, I don't care what he has to say anymore.

More from Joe on Sanchez :

Leading by example would mean that Mark had better play BETTER, period.

Mark needs to be more mentally tough but I'd love to see Mangold become a real leader on offense. Hes an all pro talent player but he seems like such a nice guy. I want him to be a tough SOB not just on the field but with his team mates.

Talk is cheap, show me something?

How about the Super Bowl 3 victory? How about the only legitimate success this franchise has ever had, and one of our only 3 Hall of Famers (until Martin gets in)?

Namath has nothing to prove. At this point, he's a glorified Jets fan with a platform because he's won here, so people know who he is and care what he has to say. But he's basically a fan.

He doesn't have to coach the team if he doesn't want to. If Michael Kay and 1050 want to interview him to ask his opinions on the team, that's totally fine.

If he feels a certain way about the team, and he's asked about it, I'm fine with him answering honestly. There were problems with this team, you could tell early on, both on and off the field.

Namath will almost always have a pass from me. The Suzy Kolber moment was a little embarrassing, but it fit with his image, and it wasn't that bad.

    And he wasn't really wrong.

I agree with what you say. Sure Joe is a bit of a loose cannon at times but there is no doubt he still loves the Jets and whether we like it or not he is usually on the money when he has something to say.
No one can question Joe Namth; he changed NFL football forever.

He's a distraction. He knows full well that when he's critical the coaches and players will be asked about it, but all he cares about is promoting his own personal brand, his website and whatever else he's selling now.

He knows fine that "Namath has no opinion" isn't going to get him the publicity he craves.

Or if no one cared what he said, he wouldn't be asked his opinion.

That doesn't explain why he suddenly started giving interviews and making statements around the time his website was launched. Didn't hear much from him in 2007 or 2008.

Namath is entitled to his own opinion & he can say whatever he wants. What he's not entitled to is a lifetime friendship card from everyone in the Jets organization for his entire lifetime. If he wants to be critical of the franchise and enjoy all the attention it draws then more power to him. At the same time, don't talk crap about feeling "awful" by not having a cozy relationship w/ the current Jets.

I hope so. That's when everything started to go bad - when he quit. Things were ALWAYS better with the Jets when Joe was drinking hard.
