Marks lack of college experience is completely irrelevant at this point in his career. He has 3 full years of NFL +playoff experience. I am not buying that as an excuse at all.
We could have had Ryan Leaf playing QB for us in those playoff games and still won! How can you possibly, and seriously use Sanchez's playoff record to keep him immune from being grouped with the quarterbacks he belongs with. Matt Stafford is 0-1 in the playoffs, so according to you Sanchez is either better than him or in his tier, but Stafford is light years ahead of Sanchez and it's not even fair to compare them. All of you who actually think Sanchez is a second tier QB need to get your heads checked out, it's not funny, it's sad and delusional.
Eli did get roughed up good...But he had alot of 3 and outs too. Giants got 10 points off the muffed punts and Alex Smith was even worse with drives.
What has Sanchez accomplished, he took 2 teams that could have won with any qb in the NFL, and allowed them to win 4 games in spite of him? Wow. He is a hell of a qb. If you dont think Tavaris Jackson could have done the same thing, you are deluding yourself...
No, they dont. Flacco made several throws on Saunday that Sanchez cant dream of. And with Sanchez, you know he throws a pick 6 in that game. There is literally nothing special about Sanchez, and to think he could do something that others couldn't is just false. And again, I am certain that if Flacco or Ryan were the qb's of the Giants, we would have won 4 games the last 2 years, made the playoffs this year, and made the SB at least once.
I'm sorry, but we are talking about the NFL, not College Football. Don't get me wrong, Eli is a great QB. However, there are too many quarterbacks that have played great in college and then showed to be busts in the NFL to count. So, using Eli's college career highlight how great he is in the NFL is invalid.
The thing that amazed me the most was the way he stood in the pocket (no happy feet, going through his progression reads, etc.) after getting the crap knocked out of him play after play. Outstanding performance by Eli. If the Pats don't find a way to bring some heat, Eli will torch the Pats secondary.
Mark went in and beat a BETTER Pats team a year ago throwing 3 TDs w/ no INTs. Flacco also squandered a 21-7 halftime lead vs. Pitt last year. There is no doubt if Baltimore got the same production out of their QB in postseason as we have they would have a SB app or 2 in the last 3 years. Name me the pick 6 he has thrown in January? what does Flacco or Ryan QBing the Giants have to do w/ anything?
The Jets have to get over the "win-now" mentality. It’s TM’s job to convince Woody to build for the future. He also has to become a better evaluator of personnel. It’s unconceivable that we went into the season with out a ligt back up QB. IMO it’s a big mistake pick up Manning. The focus should be on getting as many draft choices as possible and building a solid foundation. Beefing up the OL and DL should be a major priority. The QB situation has to be addressed. Manning is only a temporary solution if in fact he’s can play at his previous level.

I think the hiring of Tony Sparano tells us all we need to know about that. I will be shocked if there are any serioys inquiries about Peyton.
When will they go all-in? Before anybody knows if Peyton is healthy and able to play next season? After he's gotten a clean bill of health and everybody has jumped in the sweepstakes, making the Jets monetary advantage negligible? I just don't see it happening. I think in order for Peyton to play for the Jets next season three things have to happen: 1. He has to be healthy enough to play and there has to be some way to prove that conclusively. 2. The Jets have to be willing to pay him an unprecedented amount of money to drive the other contenders out of the bidding. Say $40 million a year for three years. 3. Peyton Manning has to somehow delude himself into thinking that finishing a hall of fame career as a well-paid monkey in one of the worst media zoos in the land is better than earning $25 million somewhere more dignified. I mean if the Jets are the only team that will make him a substantial offer of any kind and he really wants to play again then yeah, he'll wind up here but in almost any other scenario the Jets only position in this is as a vehicle to establish his market price.
Agreed. It's not but pure fantasy that's driving this Peyton to the Jets scenario. It's not going to happen. Nobody know's how healthy he really is. I have a feeling that would be the end of Tanny right there if he did sign Peyton for a three year $40 million dollar contract, takes a shot to the neck, his career is over. All these fans clamoring for Peyton would be up in arms...spouting off statements like "we should have never signed him"..."how can you sign a 36 year old QB who just had neck surgery to a multi-million dollar deal like that".
Youre not a doctor so quit acting like one. If Peyton playing again was so unrealistic, no one would be talking about it. It isnt like he is paralyzed right now. The only ones who would be spouting off those statements are the ones who are in love with Sanchez right now. If it was pure fantasy, you wouldnt have Woody not ruling out a different QB this year and almost the entire media running stories on Peyton everyday.
agreed I disagree with this, and don't think Peyton will command elite franchise QB money from anyone at his age and coming off the surgeries even if he is cleared. I think the whole "zoo" and "undignified" thing is something that the media and fans obsess about but that players and coaches really don't see as that big of a deal. I could be completely wrong but that's my opinion.
Peyton will go somewhere where he knows he will win. Out of every teams in the bidding, the Jets have the best shot at giving him a super bowl team. Pick up Braylon and a RT in FA and fill the other needs through the draft and this team can be dangerous again. I think its pretty certain that the Jets would have the upper hand as long as we can pay what he asks. He would most likely even come here a tad cheaper. He just wants to win. I really dont think the media has anything to do with it either. From constantly talking to reporters and all of his commercials, he doesnt strike me as one who cares about too much attention from the media.
Peyton Manning is not healthy enough that the team that he has lead to wins for a decade or more is willing to pay to keep him around for the end of his career. Yes, they have the Luck pick, but you know that if Peyton was healthy the Colts would be planning to have Luck sit behind him for a season or two. Yes, he's due a lot of money, but you know that if Peyton was healthy the Colts would pony up and at worst figure they could trade him for something good later on. Peyton Manning is just not healthy enough to play football right now. That's what is at the root of all the Peyton Manning stories. It's not, where will he wind up? It's not, will the Colts pay him? It's "Is Peyton Manning going to be healthy enough to play football in 2012?? If the answer was yes, then all the other stories would go away because the Colts would just pay the bonus and then figure out what to do.
No they don't. Chicago, Denver, SF and even Miami, would give Manning a better shot at the Super Bowl.
