Absolutely no reason to think that Adams can't be the 2nd tackle taken. No one can tell me that he isn't as gifted as Reiff or Martin, and if he's dominating the practices this week like I've been hearing then he's a top ten level player. You guys have to remember, its JANUARY. The mocks and stuff we do know are going to seem moronic one month from now, much less April. This is one of the big measuring sticks for prospects, if a kid shows up around this talent then he'll get a jump, and it's not like Adams hasn't always been seen as a high level guy his issues this year. As for Cordy Glenn, he's played tackle, and is showing the feet this week (along with vine arms) to make him a legitimate tackle prospect. I'd still rather have a RT that can play LT because I hate the idea of a reserve stepping into such a key position, but he's a very good player.
I agree it's Jan, I make my rankings for this moment not April. The Combine, Senior Bowl and other factors will all play into where a player is drafted. I'm not a huge Martin or Reiff fan, but they have shown more than Adam's shortened body of work in 2011. In fact, I'm underwhelmed by the OTs in Rd 1 this year. People are overrating Kalil as a top 3 prospect. Adams might have been a solid rd 1 prospect if he played the entire season. IMO, right now he's a borderline Round 1 pick. Things can change and will.
What do you think about the viability of signing Carey as a RT to be with his old coach/ol coach while drafting an OT who might need some work in the later rounds ? Reports are coming out that the fins are not resigning him, which usually isnt a good sign for an OL Seems like that way we at least get to draft our OLB in round 1
I'm not sure what him missing a few games really does. He did start 23 games in his career, and it's not like he didn't play well upon returning. If he were a one year guy, then I'd be concerned, but 23 games tells the same story 28 would. I think Kalil is legit, and Reiff/Martin are pretty good, top 15ish guys. That said, I believe Adams belongs near the top if he's showing all of the talents that had people thinking so highly of him for so long.
Not that I don't care about free agency, I usually don't make too many predictions on who the Jet's are going to sign. If there is a player that I really like on another team and he's available, like Cliff Avril, I may mention it in reference to a good fit on our team. I'm not a huge fan of some of the offseason threads predicting multiple free agent signings, I stick more to the draft side. My passion for College Football is the reason I love the draft process. Right now before FA starts in March, we are all just speculating when it comes to signings and the draft. The draft gets more serious after FA signings and the Combine.
Spot on, four games doesn't discredit his overall body of work, which has been impressive. I think think this week will really make people aware of his overall talents that he has already shown. I highly doubt Mike Adams falls anywhere near the second round. We will see though.
I have Reiff and Martin in the mid Round 1 area, some are predicting Martin to be a top 8 prospect, I don't see it. I think Kallil is solid, but not the elite player that deserves a top 3 pick. I believe I have Kalil rated about 6/7/8 area as the top player in the draft. Adams is a good player, but he's not a dominating player that is worth a mid Round 1 selection or better at this time. I won't deny his stock could be on the rise. Let's see how he does the rest of the week and in the Combine. Brewster is Buckeye that is underrated player that is almost the equal to Konz.
^ I really like Juron Criner! He’s quickly becoming a favorite mid-round prospects of mine. And like I said, Jeff Fuller was unimpressive. I thought he was going to have a good week and would have loved him in the 3rd, but he has had a bad couple of days. From such a big guy, you would expect him to out-physical smaller DB’s but that was just not the case- he had a very difficult time getting off the LOS. Per WalterFootball.com- Prospect meetings New York Jets - Troy offensive tackle James Brown and Arizona State wide receiver Gerell Robinson Whats kind of annoying is that the Jets have met with only two players so far and then you get teams like Baltimore who met with about 15 players so far.
I posted the following in this thread http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=68563 not realizing this thread here specific to the Senior Bowl. I noticed Zach Brown watching the Senior Bowl coverage on the NFL Network. Thought he was a safety before I did more research on him. How about drafting Zach Brown and converting him into a strong safety? He's been clocked as low as under 4.3. Looking at his highlights he looks and plays very much like a safety. Even his scouting report reads as though he would be better suited at the safety spot. I tell you one thing, Victor Cruz is not turning a 12 yard pass into a 99 TD catch and run with this guy on the field. Name: Zach Brown School: North Carolina Position: LB Height: 6'1" Weight: 236 lbs Career: Linebacker-running back who had a 29-0 record as a wrestler and won Class 3A state titles in the 100 meters (10.67 seconds) and 200 meters (21.52) as a Maryland prep. Spent 2007 at Hargrave Military Academy (Va.). As a reserve/special-teams player with the Tar Heels in ’08, was credited with six tackles, zero tackles for loss and zero sacks. Played all 13 games in ’09, starting the first six at weak-side linebacker (gave way to Kevin Reddick the second half of the season), and tallied 47-4-0 with one interception. Played all 13 games in ’10, starting five at the WLB spot in ’10, and posted 72-1 1/2-0 with three interceptions. Also competed for the UNC track team. Special-teams captain as a junior. Evaluation: An exceptionally gifted, undersized, finesse "Will" linebacker, Brown looks every bit the part and has rare speed with natural bend and safety-like ease of movement. Ranges sideline to sideline and is outstanding in coverage — drops effortlessly and is flexible, agile and sudden to shadow. Is a slam-dunk lottery selection on measurables and workout ability but does not exhibit an aggressive temperament and intensity leaves something to be desired. Is not physical at the point and too often relies on the cavalry to tackle. Has yet to adopt a professional approach to the game, has a fragile psyche and trust issues and the interview process might go a long way in determining his ultimate draft value.
Ya I think my two favorite WRs for the Jets to target in the mid rounds are Brian Quick and Juron Criner. And I would not look too much into what the bloggers are saying. I am sure the scouts are doing their job.
Mike Martin is kicking ass, too bad he's more of a 4-3 DT, he's going to be a force in the NFL. Tanny and Rex shouldn't care what position Martin would play, if he's a player I'd find a spot for Martin. Vinny Curry is showing some promise, he hustles like crazy. Mike Adams looks real solid again today.
Is it bad that I really really like Doug Martin? I think he can be a Ray Rice type of player. So far he’s the best RB at the Senior Bowl. He is explosive, agile, tough, has good hands and balance. He’s 5’9 and 220 which is pretty damn good size to run between the tackles, while also possessing speed to turn the edge and create a big play. I really like him in the 3rd. More Prospect Meetings- New York Jets - Cal wide receiver Marvin Jones, Penn State defensive end Jack Crawford, Ohio State wide receiver DeVier Posey and Iowa wide receiver Marvin McNutt
Some team is going to really like Martin early in Rd 2, if not at the end of the first. He and Polk may both be late 1 early 2 guys. And Marvin Jones is a really intriguing player, for reasons besides his name. Good size, very good athlete, and is really taking advantage of an opportunity.
Chris Polk is having a terrible week and highly doubt that he goes late 1st. I think Doug Martin would be a great pick, I dont know if the 2nd round should be used on a RB due to other holes, but if it were him, I would be happy. And teams that pick before us dont really need a RB, maybe aside from a few. I think he can make it to or 2nd round pick.
I don't think I read a bad thing about Jones yet. Also I read a few reports today that the Jets were talking to 2 RBs: Polk and Pead
Cordy Glenn OT for the South (Georgia) had a stellar day as well. playing LT and stone-walling, courtney upshaw, Quinten Coples and Melvin Ingram multiple times throughout the day. Any bets as to the MVP of the game on saturday?
I found out that Ta'amu from UWashington was at senior bowl. How did he do? Does anybody know? Speaking of DTs in Senior Bowl, how was Dontari Poe?
What is it exactly about Mark Barron that people on this forum don't like? Just curious not trying to start an argument
