When the Jets lost the AFC Championship game last year - Jet players sounded more like Ray Lewis...

Jason Taylor was near tears when he talked about how this season in NY was greater than all his crappy years in Miami combined!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To hear that froma HOF player and the way the TEAM sounded so together from Cortland On was moving.....

And THAT is what winning and playing good football bring out.

This Jets team just had a TON of little things go wrong that steamrolled and all of a sudden the man that had players near tears last year from having an awesome locker room of players who cared becomes a "DISASTER" at least in some people's eyes...

I'm even keeled about it all - I'm pretty confident that Rex can put together a team better than the one that entered last season as a favorite to make the playoffs - I'm sure media perception will be upside down but, Bottom line, the talent entering this season and coaches and experience will be GREATER than last year when the media was Knob Slobbing.

    Truth.

Someone tell what unit or position on the Jets is better than the Ravens.

    OL?
    QB?
    LB?
    RB?
    DL?

The only spot is probably CB.......

I kinda think that if Rex had Ray Lewis, Ray Rice, Suggs, Ed Reed, Ngata, anc o, he would have had the Ravens further along the past 2 years like he had the undermanned Jets

Rex didn't replace the talent or Tanny didn't? It seems you are blaming general manager mistakes on Rex to make it seem worse than it is. Please explain what part of team was top 5 talent wise? Clearly not our TE, WR, QB, DL, LB, and safety group. Our punter and kicker were not either.

He clearly overachieved in 09 by beating the Bengals and Chargers. He only predicted Super Bowl this year so he under achieved this year. The first two he said our goal is the Super Bowl and we failed in that aspect, but so ddid 31 other teams. We clearly over achieved the first two years with him and our poor talent level. People forget Rex had Jenkins for less than a game I believe and still made our defense very solid. In 10 he adapted to people adapting to his blitzes and confused Manning and Brady which is rarely done, especially back to back games. And getting smashed in the championship game? They lost by 5 and 13 I think?

Oh and the backed in excuse. How did we back into the playoffs winning two games in a row and then back into the playoffs in week 16 of the regular season? Again if you read my words, I said with the talent we have, we overachieved the first two years. Unless you expected Sanchez to come in and put the team on his back as a rookie, you had unrealistic expectations. I want a Super Bowl as much as every other fan, but to fire a coach or call him lousy after actually putting together one of the best 3 year runs in the history of our franchise would put us in an endless cycle of removing Head Coaches and not giving them enough time to adapt or improve the team.

Basically, we made big changes already in the offseason after going 8-8. That is not a loser mentality. A loser mentality would be not making any changes after this season and saying that 8-8 is average and not too bad. We got rid of a 6 year OC for the Jets. Big changes were made, and will still be made.

Darksiders think Rex sucks. Blah blah blah..... Can we merge the idiocy into one collective thread?

You know whats real funny. Someone can correct me if Im wrong. But the year Rex was hired..wasnt Lewis and Scott both free agents? And we poured all of it to Bart. Now I have never been a Lewis fan...but looking back on it now...the older Lewis had much more left in the tank mentally and physically than Scott did.

Could be wrong...but I can swear they were both free agents.

Baltimore had to choose one ala salary cap. We were going to get whomever they didn't sign. They chose their franchise player, we signed a very good LB ourselves. Rex haters will distort and try to tell us RR wanted Bart over Ray as if there was a choice for us.

Ok Jake...I wasnt sure how that played out. Thanks for correcting it.

By no means was I trying to trash Rex on it. Quite honestly, I would have gone Bart only because of age...but Bart never really was a dominating LB since coming here.

Exactly. Belichik and Brady made each other and neither would have been half as good with anybody else.

the same Wade that has one career playoff win w/ 3 different teams in the playoffs? I never saw Wade go into the 1 seed and beat them soundly in the div rd. Last year's Pats were better than this year's Pats and we soundly beat the Pats last year.

The Jets chose the younger player and the one that Rex had more pull over. It was not the wrong choice. You can argue that neither one of them should have been on the radar but Scott was the one the Jets should get if they got one of them.

    I disagree.

Last year's Jets roster had way more talent than this year's Ravens Roster and any Roster they've had in Baltimore the last couple years - which won 12 games this year, got a division title, a bye and a home playoff, and have made the playoffs every single year under Harbaugh

You might have an argument with the '09 Jets, a team that overachieved for sure but they also faced an OVERrated Bengals team and annual chokers in SD before bowing out to INDY. Had they faced NE, PIT, or BALT for example they would not have ended up in the AFCCG.

However all of these points are moot, because the Baltimore Sun article isn't saying Rex sucks or anything it merely points out that ownership did not want to hire Rex because of his tactics and not his ability - and since Harbaugh hasn't LOST a locker room or had an internal meltdown like Rex, you have to see that maybe their ownership was right on..

Rex is better than Harbaugh. Harbaugh adopted a team that was a year away from the one greatest D of all time.

Their both great coaches and ill cheer for both them. I just cant stand seeing the Patriots-Steelers-Colts dominate the AFC. Harbaugh picked up a great team, Rex picked up a mess.

who have the Ravens beat in postseason? the '08 Dolphins and '08 Titans? '09 Pats? '10 Chiefs? '11 Texans? None of those teams are as good as the '09 Chargers or '10 Pats. The '10 Pats were much better than the '11 version and we soundly beat them while Baltimore lost.

Oh and I'd dispute the talent too.

The '10 Pats team was not better than the '11 team.

QFT although Harbaugh stepped it up this season. 12-4 is equal to one of the upsets over the Chargers or Patriots.

Harbaugh blew it tho yesterday, why did he not call a timeout before making that kick....and last year up 21-7 on the Steelers, how do you not emphasize ball security? 2 fumbles and the game was tied. Hes running out of time, when Reed and Lewis leave that team wont be the same.

They haven't beaten anyone as good as the '10 Pats, but the '10 Jets also had a lot more talent than this year's Ravens team that almost (should have) beaten the Patriots.

'09 Pats and '11 Texans are better than the '09 Chargers IMO, just because the Chargers are pathetic choke-artists. The '11 Texans were playing with a 3rd string QB I know, but they have LOADS of talent and haven't proven to be chokers like SD. I think they are representing the AFC in the SB next season.

Also, you are discounting the regular season as well. This Ravens team managed to win 12 games defeat their biggest division competition and two playoff teams twice (PIT and CIN) in order to give them a bye.. something Rex hasn't managed to do.

I'm not saying Rex is terrible or anything - I think he is a good coach, but if you are trying to tell me Baltimore made the wrong decision and that Rex is better than Harbaugh you are crazy. Harbaugh is a top 5, maybe higher, NFL coach.

So its Harbaugh's fault that his players can't hold onto the ball?

By that statement its Rex's fault Wayne Hunter can't block....

Also last night if he calls a timeout and Cundiff misses that kick you would be saying "why did he call a timeout? He iced his own kicker!"

All season after a 3rd down incompletion you bring your kicking team out for a 32 yard field goal - why do things differantly in the AFCCG? It wasn't a situation where the time was ticking off and they needed to rush on the field.

A top five coach? His brother did a better job than he did this year, John Harbaugh already had a ready-made team, other than the QB. Just off the top of my head, BB, Coughlin, Payton, McCarthy and Fisher are all better (or at least have accomplished more) head coaches. That's not even counting Shanny - who hasn't been a good coach for years - or other guys who built a team and make the playoffs constantly like Reid and John Fox.

QB: I'll call it even, it could be debated either way.
    RB: '11 Ravens
    WR: Even
    TE: '11 Ravens
OL: Even, possibly a slight edge to the '10 Jets

    S: '11 Ravens
    CB: '10 Jets
    LB: '11 Ravens
    DL: '11 Ravens

Where's all the loads of talent the Jets had over the Ravens?
