You Jets fans rooting for the Giants are crazy, there is no way Giants fans would ever root for the Jets under any circumstance. Those rooting for the Giants I feel like are trying to play both sides, you're closet Giants fans. You keep them as a backup because the Jets can never get the job done, have to rely on big brother to do it for you.

I'm right there with you, except that I have a 20 year head start on you. This has allowed me to "enjoy" the successes of the Jets since 1969 and the Knicks since 1973. Admittedly it also allowed me to enjoy (no quotation marks) the two best sports times of my life: September 1968 - May 1970 (Jets, Mets, Knicks championships) and October 1979 - May 1984 (19 straight playoff series wins and 4 Stanley Cups for the Islanders, which I enjoyed much of in person as a season ticket holder).

You think the Giants would rather have an NFC East team win the SB than the Jets? I don't.

We're the Mets and they're the Yankees.

A lot of Mets fans hate the Yankees, partially out of jealousy. Same holds true for us.

Most Yankees fans could give half a crap about the Mets. If the Eagles, Skins, or Cowboys make the Super Bowl, it doesn't matter what AFC team gets the chance, Giants fans are on the Jet bandwagon.

That would be like the Yankees rooting for the Red Sox to beat the Mets. Maybe 1 a-hole out of 10 would. MAYBE.

and if the Jets were winning a few Super Bowls and the Giants had 43 years of misery, they'd probably feel the same as we do.

Hell, let's just say that the Jets won the last two years, and everyone was talking about NY Jets all the time. Let's say the Jets made it again this year and were playing the Eagles, I wonder how many Giants fans would root for the Jets in that case.

Ah the next time you post something historical you have to go back farther then you did to 1957 when the Brooklyn Dodger franchise was moved from Brooklyn NY to Los Angeles. Now that is pure torture if you were a Brooklyn Dodger fan at the time the franchise was moved.

I have multiple Giants friends who will root for the Jets against Pats, Cowboys, Steelers, nfc east, etc. My dad is also a Giants fan. How do you explain rooting for the Pats except the fact of annoying Giants fans? I don't go out and root for the Giants and my day is not ruined if they lose as if the Jets lose. Besides for annoying fans, I don't see how one can root for a team that we played twice a year, have a ny-boston rivalry, and a team that has dominated our division and conference for 10 years.

And Mantana Soss makes a great point. I dislike the Mets, but if it is Mets/Red Sox I will easily root for the Mets to win.

This is very true. I was so irate last night, but I thought "This is a good life lesson" because Im just gonna have to roll with the punches and make the best of it. However, I do hate football. I feel like somebody is writing a script and the Jets are the brunt of some sick joke. Its easy to become paranoid and delusional being a fan of this team. It all seems like a sick joke. Just win a superbowl already, my god.

I would never root for the mets - rangers - nets- or giants, simple as that. the pats win big whoop they win all the time and i don't have to see or deal with their fans. giants fans wins and it's endless. i've grown to hate them this year. coupled with the fact that they effectively ended the jets season i can easily root for the patriots over the giants this year.

Well, if you want to think of it another way...

In Super Bowl history, there have been 45 winners.

17 teams make up those 45 winners.
Of those 17 teams, 11 have won it more than once and 6 have won it once (one being the NY Jets).
Of those 11, 8 have won it more than twice.

None of those stats will change this year except the amount of winners.

It's crazy that after all these years, 72% of the winners were the same 8 teams.

What? The Patriots beat the Jets twice, are they not more responsible for the Jets not making the playoffs than the Giants?

And if as a Yankees fan you root for the Red Sox to win the World Series against the Mets, you should not be allowed within New York City borders. That's just basic pride, as opposed to overwhelming spite, man.

Not a valid comparison. Yankees win often, Mets do not. If the Mets win once in a while, why should the Yankees fans care?

I'm sure when the Yankees played the Phillies, there were a decent amount of Mets fans rooting for Philly.

Flip around the Super Bowls, give the Jets 3 and the Giants 1 about 43 years ago. Let's see how many of those Giants fans would have been "rooting" for the Jets over the past two years. Let's see how many Giants fans would have rooted for the Jets if they played the Eagles or Cowboys in the SB.

To give you an idea of what it means for whoever wins the Super Bowl this year. They'd become 4th most successful franchise in NFL history along with the Packers. Think about that.

Because in this case you're the Mets rooting for the Yankees to beat the Phillies. Although that's a much weaker rivalry than Jets-Pats, one of the NFL's premier. There were Mets fans going both ways on that one.

That's totally irrelevant. That's like Jets fans rooting for the Cowboys to beat the Giants. It's not really a Jets concern.

Seeing a hated rival hoist the Lombardi (yet again) is.

Another ring gives Brady and Belichick a strong argument for G.O.A.T. at their respective jobs, I don't wanna see that crap.

Rooting for the Pats would CONFIRM to the rest of the league that we are jealous, second-class NY citizens.

Per the Giants official twitter page:

"Some teams are happy getting to Conference Championship games, but #ImReallyGoodAt winning them! 5-0 all time! #ALLIN"

Kicking us while we're down? I'm starting to think I might root for the patsies here..
