None of it bothers me, boys. I've known good football years; I've known bad football years. I don't have to lie to myself about any of them. I've seen my team play in 5 Super Bowls ...seen them win a couple of them. Even got to watch some of those Super Bowls in an age when everyone had a color t.v. ...as opposed to Jet fans who last saw their team when most folks were still sitting around a big ol' 19 inch black and white console. I've watched my team go through periods where they dominated the division and made regular appearances in the playoffs. Sure, my team has gone through lows, but we've had enough highs to more than balance it out. You tout how good you guys had been before this season yet you can't even seem to win the division. You can deny it, but I know enough Jet fans to know that kills you. And now, you get the real stick-in-the-eye: a Patriots-Giants Super Bowl. Come that Sunday, you'll be sitting around on your couches crying into your beers and dreaming of what could have been. So you can call me names, you can tell me to "eat shit," but none of it will ever bother me because you're Jet fans ...and for that, you'll always have my pity.
Pre-Rex you might have a point. With Rex, there ain't a team in this league Jet fans would trade places with. Not a single one. The fact is we hit gold with a guy who is gonna go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time period. So yeah the Pats are still king for now, but as Brady works his way into retirement in the very near future, this teams easily set to control the division for a long time
Dude, you've been sniffing Rex's shoe collection. Rex's schtick worked for a couple of years but that fire looks to have fizzled. I'm not saying you shouldn't root for him to succeed. I'm not even saying that you shouldn't believe in him wholeheartedly. But Rex has a long way to go before he's even in the conversation for second tier let alone one of the greats. Win the division a few times, win 2 or 3 Super Bowls, THEN come talk to me about Rex being one of the greatest. And honestly, I think it's very difficult for a coach to reinvent himself with the same team. If what you're predicting comes true, I think it more likely to happen with another team, not the Jets. But we'll see. At this point, the conversation is incredibly premature (there ya go... i set the joke up for you... have at it).
It really depends on what age Dolphins fans you are with. I have friends who are my age so they remember the late 90s and they don't have much better than the Jets. In fact I warned most of them not to get their hopes with Chad as they would be one and done. The fact of the matter is, the Dolphins have been as irrelevant as the Jets for most Jets fans under 30. Hang onto to those old times and the last time you have seen a Super Bowl win which was only 5 years later than the Jets if I remember correctly? Face it, both of our franchise have been irrelevant for over 30 years and now you are hanging your hat on Super Bowl appearances because you haven't won one since the 70s. Both of our franchise have watched on as the Pats took over the AFC East and completely dominated since 2000. We are both in the same boat except from our view we are going forwards and you are going backwards.
Holy ####.... I was 5 when the Dolphins last won a SB.. Wasn't watching NFL at the time... Luckily I have never seen teh Dulphins win squat. Most fans now only know of a Dolphin Team that hasn't done #### and is barely even in the same conversation as the Jets. You have a unique perspective - probably more respectful than your average blubbering, never seen #### Miami fan I run into. Then again!!!! WHAT THE #### IS SOME OLD GUY DOING ####ING AROUND ON MESSAGE BOARDS OF OTHER TEAMS.... Just don't get that. Why for instance as a Yankee fan would I care about the Red Sox Boards or Mets boards???? Maybe when I was 13, it would be fun to try to tweak other fans.... But, when my team won something 38 years ago to go to their boards and tell them I'm ok, cuz my team won almost 4 decades ago when most of you weren't around... L O L!
Are you serious? Rex and the Jets are viewed as a joke by fans of other teams. I'm sure Pats fans would trade places and have Rex instead of BB.
Did you read what i wrote? Jet fans will take Rex over ANYONE. Jet fans. That said without Brady Belichicks nothing more than a janitor
Rex is a buffoon, a fat idiot who has no idea how to coach. He completely lost the locker room. His players are lining up to throw their QB under the bus. This doesn't happen with a properly coached team. Rex can't draft talent at all, he hasn't replaced any of the talent that left with comparable talent at all. His defense is overrated. Combine that with his brash talk he can't back up and his embarrassing foot fetish stuff I have had it with this guy. Once you lose the locker room as a coach you need to go.
Yeah because I don't like Rex? The guy is an embarrassing with his foot fetisha nd swinger sex stuff. He has turned this team into a joke and a complete laughing stock. He lost the locker room, lost his team, can't draft, has no clue how to run an offense. He will not see another AFCCG and him and Sanchez will be looking for work in two years. Book it.
well I agree to some points but shouldn't u guys be happy with a coach that sucks so much? I mean : that must be good for the fins/ pats or not?
Agreed. I have the luxury of having been a Dolphin fan since almost the beginning of their history so I have some sense of balance regarding relevant vs. irrelevant ...something I don't even think long time Jet fans have. I think you're being a bit harsh on both our teams there. I don't define relevance to mean winning Super Bowls. Teams can be relevant if they dominate their division and are regular playoff contenders. The Phins were certainly that through the 80s (2 Super Bowl appearances, both losses however). And the Phins were in the hunt for part of the 90s (I don't recall how competitive the Jets were then). And the Jets certainly weren't irrelevant for the two recent seasons that ended in AFC championship losses. Time will tell, but from where I'm standing it doesn't look like you took any steps forward this year, rather I think you went significantly backwards. I'm thinking about the title of this thread and it occurs to me that Mark Sanchez is an apt metaphor for the team and their history because every once in a while he'll give you that good game that sucks you right into believing he's going to bring you to the promised land, but before too long reality sets in and the bad on-the-field decisions follow. The Jets have been doing that kind of thing to their fans for decades now, the end result being two division titles since you won the Super Bowl and not much else.
Fizzeled? He was forced to take Schittys offense by the brass. And took a defense incredibly devoid of talent at all positions but corner and made them legit. This season was a diaster ans we were still 8-8 and a top 10 defense, and that was with everything going wrong. The mans a legend whose jusy begun his legacy
Dolphins: 1 SB appearance with Dan Marino.....lost a playoff game 62-7 with Jimmy Johnson.......chose Dante Culpepper over Drew Brees......lousy drafts.......string of bad coaches.....idiot owner who knows nothing about football and clueless GM who backstabs his own coach.
