Do you know anything about football whatsoever? Read what i previously wrote, the jets were eliminated from the playoffs before our game even ended. Youre just trolling or just went full re re
You're rewriting history. As proof that you were still in contention in week 17, I offer you this post written on January 1st, 2012 @ 2:53 AM, about 10 hours before the start of the NYJ-Miami game: Of course, it's possible that the post I chose won't convince you. I'm not sure if you're familiar with that poster. So I'll give you this as well: espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=320101015 The title of that article is "Dolphins eliminate Jets after Mark Sanchez's three INTs." The article goes on to say, "The Jets failed to fulfill coach Rex Ryan's pledge to win a Super Bowl title, with Sunday's 19-17 loss at Miami eliminating them from the chase for an AFC wild-card berth." So you were saying?
You both are a little off. If the Jets won, they still would have missed since the Texans lost to the Titans. The Jets were in contention when the game started but they would have missed no matter the result of the Jets-Dolphins game was.
I think the point is that even had we beat the Dolphins, were would have been eliminated anyway. Nobody here is going to deny their disappointment in not only the end of our season, but all of it. But we are stil in much better position with a few fixes this offseason than the Dolphins are.
Yeah like 3 different games had to go our way to make the playoffs. They didnt, so even if we had won that game cinci still would of made the playoffs. Except wed probably still have Schitty as our OC. Which part of this are you not understanding, our matchup was irrelevant. i understand how difficult it can be for a dolphin fan to understand how making the playoffs works
It's true that the Jets wouldn't have made the playoffs even if they'd beaten Miami, but when that game ended, they had no idea what the outcome of the Tenn-Houston game was going to be. The score of that game was never wider than 7 points. So unless the Jets were gifted with clairvoyance that day, they should have been playing like it was a playoff game. Hell, if Houston would've converted the two-pointer at the end, all the pieces the Jets needed would have fallen into place with the exception of the one piece over which the Jets had total control. Once the Jets lost to Miami, the outcome of the Tenn-Houston game became irrelevant to the Jets because they were already eliminated.
Now you aren't arguing the point of you stated which was the dolphins eliminated the Jets. They did not eliminate the Jets because a win would not have put the Jets in the playoffs. It is that simple. If the Jets were in a win and in scenario, then yes the dolphins would have eliminated them, but they were not in that scenario.
That's just nonsense. At some point in linear time, the Jets were eliminated. If it didn't happen when they lost to the Fins, when did it happen?
Who gives a shit? You're here talking to fans whos team was atleast close enough to be eliminated, and youre trying to force the issue that your bottom feeder team was actually the spoiler. They weren't,and that is also nothing to be proud of.
I'm not forcing anything. I'm just calling bullshit when I read it. And the "bottom feeders" eliminated the Jets from playoff contention despite the fact that it wounds your delicate fee-fees.
What bullshit? If you're so proud that your team played spoiler..i'll give it to you. The dolphins eliminated the Jets, even though they would have been anyway. But understanding that the Dolphins have been a bottom dweller team except for the year that a JET qb went and won them the division and they were bounced in the 1st round, the fact that i know what every seat in their stadium loks like because during their non blackout weeks i see them on tv,and they wear teal and orange,we will let them take home the spoiler trophy. Congratufuckinlations.
In linear time the Jets were eliminated in Miami, but a win wouldn't have put them in. So for about 2 minutes the dolphins eliminated the Jets but the second Houston lost, the Jets game has no relevance and no shot at the playoffs. Basically if you want to say the second the Jets lost and for the time until the HOU game was decided, that Miami eliminated them, then yes you did for two minutes. I don't think any Jets fans or legitimate sports fans would look at that and say the Jets were eliminated by the Dolphins. That never crossed my mind. You can't ignore what happened after which made the Jets game pointless. In fact what crossed my mind immediately after the Giants game was we missed the playoffs. But again, for two minutes of joy you eliminated the Jets.
Ok sure "technically" you eliminated us from the playoffs. However what you literally did was have no bearing on us actually making or not making the playoffs, and you made our draft pick better, hurt your own draft pick, and were the catalyst that resulted in a massive overhaul of our coaching staff
Or if we can step back and look at things as a whole we could see the Jets would not have made the playoffs that day even if they won 99-0. Their game could have not been played for all that matters and they would have missed the playoffs. As I said, most Jets fans didn't even think the Dolphins eliminated us. If you look at the season as a whole, Cruz's 99 yard touchdown ended our season. My reasoning is a win would not have given the Jets the playoffs, so how would they be eliminated with the loss? You can't live in suspended time where the HOU game is always pending. We are basically arguing our definitions of eliminated. From my feeling and intuition, Miami game didn't matter because at no point could I have thought or said "If the Jets won the game, they would have made the playoffs."
Actually, the truth is that any Jets Loss BUT the one to Miami eliminated us,beause at that point, for the 1st week in the season our destiny was not in our own hands.
Here is a fun fact for everyone. Entering week 14, the Miami Dolphins were mathematically still alive for the playoffs at 4-8. But a win by any one of several teams playing at 1:00 pm would eliminate them, one of which was the Jets. Guess which team finished their game first out of those 1:00 pm game? The Jets, who beat KC, which eliminated Miami. Interesting.
So youre saying the Jets eliminated the Dolphins from the playoffs ? SUCK IT FIN FANS, we crushed your hopes and dreams, then got your HC fired, and then hired him !
