1) Whitney Mercilus DE/OLB - By now Upshaw and Richardson are likely off the board and I think hes BPA, I think we could be able to trade down and still nab him but thats just not Tannys style. 2- Chandler Jones DE/OLB - A physical freak, reminds me of a strange combination of JPP and Maybin, I think this is definitely a high risk high reward and hopefully could be built up to replace Pace in the next year or two, or at least be a violent situational pass rusher 3- Brandon Brooks - OL - Big versatile blocker, can play multiple positions on the line excels at run blocking, potential to be brought in for jumbo sets and to either fill in where needed 4- Harrison Smith - SS - Good smart safety, not a playmaker, but doesnt give up big plays either (cough cough eric smith) Jim Leonard 2.0 ? 5 -Terrance Ganaway- HB- 240 lbs, big sonnabitch. This is Rex Ryan football at its finest (this is by far my favorite pick, I think a huge monster who is like the old Brandon Jacobs without the vagina or mental illness is exactly what our offense needs) 5- (Lowery pick) George Bryan - TE - Can block, can catch, wont be the next Gronk, wont be the next Mulligan Or Rhett Ellison - TE - more agressive run blocker, much lessg of a recieving threat 6- Gerell Robinson - WR - Sanchez needs a young big boddied reciever, and this guys no speedster but hes a solid redzone threat. 6'3 222 ill take it 7- Jaye Howard- DT/DE big tough versatile SOB, maybe Rex can work him up into a rotational guy what more can you expect from a 7th rounder Nobody really pops out as a sexy instant gratification player, but tough rex ryan kinda guys who definitely fit with our nitty gritty ground and pound kinda football
And the safety class really doesnt impress me, which is why I like grabbing Harrison in the mid rounds, but we absolutely need to go find someone via FA.
Its not even that I like an OLB in the first, its just there arent many other picks that early that arent a reach. Most of the other guys available are DT/DE (not our biggest needs), WRs, HBs, and Corners. If we dont get Upshaw/Mercilus/Richardson/Ingram in the first I feel that we are likely just grabbing someone that is a huge reach or filling in something that isnt a true need Plus it doesnt help that BT is probably done, and Pace is at the end of his career and somewhat injury prone. So even if hes not a pass rusher, long as hes a run stuffer who can seal the edge im happy
Kendall wright, Michael Floyd, and alshon Jeffery say hellllooo!! Drafting a wideout would not be a reach.
I would like to see a WR earlier than the 6th but love Mercilus and Jones sounds good but definently would like to see a wideout earlier than a RB.
I would like a WR drafted earlier, but thats my only complaint. Ganaway tore shit up in the bowl game. It was kind of weird to see such a large man out run so many DB’s... His size/speed combo is pretty amazing. I would love this pick.
Were bringing back the ground and pound big time. I promise that's why Sparano is here. Plus I think there's an excellent chance Braylon comes home. With Holmes locked up,Braylon as the #2, Kerley as our very promising slot guy it makes no sense to me to draft a wr in the first 3 rounds. Not to mention there's plenty ofother comoptent FA wr who can be plugged in #2. Not a need for the ground and pound Hell if we bring back plax as the #4 for a redzone/3rd down threat per vet min its even less of a need and gives Gerell a year to situate himself.
This is the first I’ve really heard of Chandler Jones...sadly. But wow. This kid looks like he has TREMENDOUS upside. Do you have any idea of what his draft stock is? (kind of hard to find). He looks like a mix of aldon smith and JPP- just a freakish athlete.
I really like the picks of Whitney Mercilus and Chandler Jones! These guys would be a huge upgrade for the pass-rush. I think, there is ton of really good FA-WR this offseason - we should get one of those.
Don't know where this love for Chandler Jones is coming from, he's nowhere NEAR JPP/Aldon Smith/Maybin in terms of athleticism. Not even close. I don't see a burst/explosion from him that Mercilus, Ingram, and even Upshaw have. He got bigger this past season which helped his overall game, but he's no speed rusher.
Pardon my french, but I fucking love it, good work my friend. Also on another note, I am aware we don't need corners, but where do you guys predict Josh Norman, corner out of Coastal Carolina going? I would like another big corner, they said he was doing amazing on slants and is really good in bump and run during the east-west shrine practices, him a Jenkins the WR out of Illinois I would really like late, because they would be good value picks in places to fill out some weeknesses
http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2012wmercilus.php This is arguably the best scouting report I have read on Mercilus, after reading this, I am kinda scared he could go as high as #7 to Jacksonville, I wanna see this kid lining up in a Jet uniform, he sounds like the no doubt option to me
Well yeah ok I mean hes not them or else he would be going at the top of the first round, but he definitely can be a poor mans JPP. Hes excellent range for a OLB (ala JPP), and is consistently the first guy off the ball. Not to mention hes got absolutely freakish genetics, his brother is UFC champion Jon Jones, his other brother is that behemoth on the Ravens DL Arthur Jones. I dont think he would be an impact performer next year, but I think this guy has incredible potential. And as for his draft stock at this time id say mid to late 2nd, I really dont see any chance of this guy getting past the Ravens/Steelers/Pats at the end of the second
Just because we will most likely be going back to ground and pound does not mean you don't need receivers. You can't go out there and run it every play, it just doesn't work. We need another receiver. I personally doubt Braylon comes back and don't see Plax back either. That leaves the cupboard bare at receiver and i'd rather not dish out mega bucks for another receiver at this moment.
Rex was making his apologies to Braylon on Friday, and it really sounds like thats could happen. Even if not Plax wants to play more (for less money) and there are tons of middle of the pack WRs on the board. Fact is at the end of the day this team has bigger needs, that can NOT truly be addressed via FA (OL, OLB very expensive FA options). WR, safety, cheaper FA options
I understand what you’re saying, but how many years are there this many talented WR’s. In the 4th round, a team can get a solid #2 WR. I would just hate for this team with a big whole at WR to not use a pick in the top 4 rounds to grab a WR that could be big part of this offense’s future.
We got Kerley in the 5th in a draft without as many talented WRs and hes gonna be a fixture in our offense for the next 10 years. It doesnt matter how great of a draft it is if you dont need a WR. If we lock Braylon up eventually (which I think we eventually will) where would we use this other wr ? Holmes is under contract for 5 years, (4 more) Kerley is here to stay, theres just nowhere to plug him. And I wouldnt rule out Gerell Robinson, hes not useless. Hes a big guy, will be all over the ball, and as far as recievers that can run block hes definitely up there. At the very least he can put Turner out of a job And theres no way you can say a WR is a bigger need than OL/OLB/Safety which i think we need to heavily focus on, not a chance. Sure Ganaway is a luxury pick, but there arent too many HBs out there who can fill the role he can, especially in the 5th round
I like Robert Meachem if we don't get Braylon, the guy is a burner, like 4.35 speed, which is probably faster than any guy on our team outside of maybe Joe Mcknight like 4.38 so the same. I really would like to see Mercilus as our first pick and our O-line is much more important than drafting a receiver
Guess With all the attention hes getting Robinson would hafta be a 5th. If we got him and Ganaway in the 5th omfg what a draft id be ecstatic
