Nobody said it is ALL Mark's fault. In fact Holmes you may recall had earlier tried to light a fire under Hunter and the OL.

But Sanchez Fans need to understand that Mark was more of a problem than Schotty was.

Maybe if we aren't calling 4 - 6 yard routes he'll have a chance to get open.

The fantastic thing about Schotty going to the Rams, Sanchez staying and us replacing almost our entire offensive staff, is that we get to test out that theory in 2012.

Especially when the Jets face the Rams.

Holmes is more about personal accomplishments than winning.

    First down celebrations? Seriously?

You must have started watching football this season because Mark has made several down field passes in his brief past - the most notable one being when he ran the offense himself with seconds left in the game against Houston, which the jets won.

Sanchez fans don't have to budge on anything. He was sloppy this year - as was the whole team. He was not at all helped by his team mates, some of who should have stepped up, pushed him and kept his confidence going.

Just because he says he will be back, doesn't mean he will be back. We've seen these type of comments made before, just for the opposite to happen. It's an open ended statement and holds no weight at all.

I don't like Holmes. With people like him on the team, it is difficult to like the team. He celebrates after every catch and showboats after touchdown catches. In 2010, he dropped the easiest touchdown catch I've ever seen (against the Dolphins and they lost), probably because he was thinking about the celebration as the ball floated softly towards his hands with no defenders around.

Why should I spend my Sunday afternoon watching jerks like Holmes? It's a waste of time. I could be spending time with my family.

Yup, it's going to be very interesting to see how things pan out with the Jets and Rams offenses next season. Whether the Scotty apologists were right or the Sanchez apologists were right, there's going to an epic feast of crow one way or the other...

Have the Rams even hired Schotty? Last I read, they were interviewing Hue Jackson yesterday for the OC job.

How many times did it seem that Holmes and Sanchez weren't on the same page? I recall it many times.
Anybody ever think that Holmes was running poor routes? Maybe even trying to make Sanchez look Stupid?
I know it's hard to believe a receiver would purposefully run wrong routes or not go all out to help his team win, which would in turn make him a winner, but Holmes obviously despises Sanchez to the point that I would even have thought to ask this question.
I really think Tannenbaum dropped the ball without including an out clause somewhere in Holmes' contract to protect the organization against just this kind of stuff.

Schotty isn't the exact runner up for OC anymore. The guy I wanted, Hue Jackson, is likely the favorite.

Rookie AJ Green (not word for word, but something along the lines of this on NFL sunday)- “I didnt care or worry about who my QB was once I was drafted, I just knew that I was going to play great despite who my QB is. Thats what great players do, they play great with whoever is throwing them the ball.”

Holmes couldnt understand this, but a rookie who has 10 times as much maturity as our “captain” gets it. I say bullshit that Mark was holding him back. Holmes isnt a great player, if he was, he would have played well with whoever his QB is. Holmes is just a very good #2... he was never a #1.

Holmes has never lead his team in catches for a season. He's been in the league long enough now that you'd expect him to have done that several times if he was a #1 receiver.

Exactly. What Woody said is the only thing he could say at the moment. Of course Woody is going to tell us that he thinks Holmes / Sanchez can get back together. The thought of him saying the opposite is unimaginable.

I'm assuming that Holmes would be back, but wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was let go to a team willing to take him off the Jets hands. My recollection from an earlier article link was that somehow the Jets were better off from a cap perspective trading him rather than just releasing him. Anybody have that info.

I think they're better off trading him because guaranteed money hits the cap if he is released and does not if he is traded. I could be wrong on that. Guaranteed money is a relatively new phenomenon in the NFL. Bonuses always hit the cap when a player is traded and some future bonuses did also, those not conditional on performance.

Great news, Rex said himself he is the best the jets have.
    I agree!

Just more escuses from Sanchez apologists. You are delusional if you think it makes no difference who the Qb is in terms of how productive the receivers are. That's a new one, but not very clever.

What's funny is that many of us can readily admit there were issues with sanchez, along with many other players, but it seems as if you're refusing to put any fault on Holmes among others. Your act is getting tired and old, why won't you acknowledge Holmes' faults?

The guy knew exactly what he was getting into with Sanchez. He was outperformed in receptions and yards by a slightly above average TE this year who had the same QB throwing to him. Holmes clearly can't handle being a #1 receiver and we need to bring one in to make Holmes dangerous as a great #2 receiver.

The offensive line was a bigger problem than both, but Schotty is solely responsible for the Giants loss. Nobody else. I do believe Mark deserves some of the blame, but certainly not the lionshare. Schotty put us in terrible positions all season long. He just sucks at adjusting game plans to play toward strengths and opponent weaknesses. I say he's a bigger problem than Mark by a long shot. Why develop a pass heavy game plan when your QB has a neck injury and has been struggling? Schotty lost the pulse of the offense, and rightfully so, he's gone. He knew the problems we had all season long, but failed to work around them.
