What a joke of a post. Using the same quote to answer different questions? Post the actual interview, instead of selective quote mines. That's hardly RIPPING the Jets. He was honest and respectful. You know something is a quote mine when it's worded like Sanchez said that his feelings are "as bad as they've ever been". Post the whole statement instead of the same deception the media constantly promotes. LT even said he'd try to sit down with Mark and Holmes before making a decision like that. You are acting like the guy destroyed the whole team. But yeah, don't hold the offensive coach responsible for the dissidence in the offense, it's all Rex's fault. What a mother fucking joke. You're a fan, stop acting so alarmist like the goddamn sky is falling because of one mediocre season (not bad season 8-8 is .500, not 4-12). Let's look forward to how the problems are addressed in the off season instead of constantly whining like a bunch of emotional teens.

Bear in mind that Pittsburgh, a model of consistency and stability, felt they needed to jettison Holmes right after winning it ALL. Apparently, even as a Superbowl MVP, he was too much bullshit to deal with.

That's probably very close to the truth, but even further points out how little a team player Holmes is.

I agree. This whole "Sanchez needs someone to challenge him" theory makes no sense. If being an NFL QB on the biggest stage in the world, nevermind the will to win and be a champion, isn't motivation enough like it seems to be for most other professional athletes that aren't selfish stat-compilers, then he shouldn't be there.

It boils down to this: he's either lazy and incompetent, or the system developed around him isn't valid.

This whole "backup motivation" is ridiculous, and if that actually IS the case, I would be dismayed at both Sanchez and the people (front office) who feel that is a valid reason not to play well.

Sure, if you're talking about a selfish guy, and you buy into him being a selfish guy, that makes perfect sense. Are you going to say you've never heard of disgruntled receivers taking off plays that weren't directed at them?

If you want to point to something about Rex BEFORE this year, let's talk about the lack of preparation and how many times the team comes out flat in big spots. How many times we struggled against bad teams and put up less than 10 points the past couple of years.

That can't all be blamed on every BUT Rex - he's got a hand in the motivation, discipline, and preparation too. Or at least he should.

I'm totally with you on this one. I've been on this board arguing with guys for WEEKS now about how the defense is totally overrated and the stats are completely lying because they're taken out of context. Our 3rd down defense was bad, and wasn't even very good in 2010. Lots of 3rd and longs being completed. Lots of times late in games where the D just needed a stop and the O would have had a shot.

Neither side is completely to blame, but neither is either side blameless. It was an equal opportunity clusterfuck this year.

I disagree. Competition makes EVERYONE better, I don't care if its Drew Brees or Peyton Manning. Its not like Sanchez intentionally slacks off, but he's still a young guy. Having a decent backup QB will motivate him, whether intentionally or not. I still feel with Schotty gone and the oline fixed, we'll be fine, but it absolutely can't hurt. It might just push Sanchez to the next level. People love to be critical over something they've never been a part of. If you don't go to all of the Jets practices and consult with the coaches, you have no clue what will or won't help Mark Sanchez. I trust that LT knows his shit, over some random fan on the internet.

I don't disagree that competition makes people better. But to be one of the big reasons the guy isn't performing well? I'm sorry, but that's complete bullshit. If you don't do your job well because you feel entitled, that's a big problem.

When McElroy said all those things about the Jets locker room and how dysfunctional it was everyone told him to shut up and said how he should not be saying stuff like that because it does nothing to benefit the team and it should stay in the locker room.

And now LT comes out and says very similar things to what McElroy was saying about the locker room being really bad and all this stuff about bad chemistry. So I don't see why LT has said all this things without being criticized like McElroy.

I KNOW he is LT and a veteran and respected and a hall of famer but the problem is players saying things that only make the team look bad and feed the media more shit to talk about and not the player who is saying the things. I have a lot of respect for LT and I think he is an important player for the Jets but I don't get why he comes on TV and says all this stuff, how is it benefiting the team at all?

Also my views on the whole competition thing with Sanchez. Lets look at some QBs in the NFL and their competition or former competition:
    Drew Brees, Chase Daniels
Tom Brady, Ryan Mallet, Matt Cassell
Peyton Manning, Curtis Painter, Jim Sorgi
    Philip Rivers, Billy Volek
    Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn
    Joe Flacco, Tyrod Taylor
    Matt Stafford, Shaun Hill
Matt Schaub, Matt Leinart, TJ Yates
    Ben Roethlisberger, Charlie Batch

Im sorry but I don't see anyone of these guys competitions taking their spot or even threatening to take their spot. QBs don't need great competition to be great on the field. So I think the whole competition aspect is kinda overblown, yes I think we need a backup besides Mark Brunell but I don't think it is a major issue with Sanchez.

There is no 1 big reason. Anybody who's watched this year, can name at least 4 reasons for Mark's non elite (although still improved) year. To me, every little bit helps. I don't think Woody was saying that was the only (or main)problem. Our offense was chock full of them this year.

No. Just no. LT did not call anybody selfish, or sling mud. He talked about how the team can get better and some of the problems from last season. He didn't really say anything out of line, and once I watch the entire interview, I'm sure I'll know that for sure, instead of relying on quote mines from biased media sources.

He did call Sanchez a bit pampered since he has no real competition. My point is that when a player, any player, comes out and says something that doesn't benefit the team it is not a good thing and is a problem. Players need to stay out of the media and stop talking about how much of a shit show the Jets locker room is. I don't want to hear about it anymore.

His OPINIONS are a bit off IMO....but his FACTS aren't.

    (1) Opinion is the reference to 'pampered' -- not sure why Mark needs QB competition when Rivers, Brady, Eli, etc don't need it. In fact, only washed-up or mediocre veterans have legit competition.

    (2) Facts like Sanchez working hard -- easily deduced from time spend at Florham Park.

Did you get the feeling that LT is talking about a team he won't be on next year?

I agree with both of these things but Im just tired of the negative press the Jets get from players coming out and saying things.

It does not benefit the team at all, and I am completely surprised and disappointed with LT for this. It seems he's on his way to becoming another espn mouth. Im really disappointed because I loved LT up to this point.
