RR shouldn't be on the hot seat after not having a losing season ever as a head coach. i am willing to give him at least 4 to 5 another years before looking to change the HC

This is not a normal off season, this is one that started with the coach guaranteeing a super bowl and not making the playoffs. The media deserve to pile on, the fans deserve to pile on and anything that happens over the next six months is fair game.

I don't want Sparano coaching this team. I'll flip a shit if he's even considered.

These Parcell guys are fucking full of themselves. RR should not be on the hot seat. Best winning % , 4 road playoff wins, 2 AFCCG appearances. I'll admit he needs to calm down and control the team but this is crazy. If we were anywhere but NY/NJ instead in like Seattle or STL none of this would be spoken of.

I disagree about the context of the Jets being talked about as its very important. I guess you can start with the Jets not being in the post season conversation regarding the VLT or the AFCCG. We're "relevant" for all the wrong reasons it appears kinda like the guy running naked thru the streets being in the news. So, when I use the term "irrevelant", i'm talking in positive terms as just about anyone can be in the news for the wrong things. If we want to be on the back pages because of players doing exit interviews with the media or Rex shooting his mouth off again, is that really the kind of "relevancy" this team needs right now to attract fresh talent?

This team certainly isn't irrelevant by any stretch of the imagination.

They may have finished 8-8 but the Jets are front and center in the news while the vaGinas are in the playoffs. The Gints didn't steal a back page from us the last 2 years while the Jets were in the playoffs.

Again - this isn't a losing season - its 8-8. An average team with this much turmoil goes 2-14 at best. The Colts were irrelevant this year without Peyton, except that they were a shoe-in for the Suck for Luck sweepstakes.

Keeping RR is long term is in the Jets best interest , even
If we have a bad or subpar season along the way. Yet we cannot
have another mess like we had at the end of this year.

Having your HC losing touch with the pluse of the locker
room is just totally unacceptable. It is my hope that Rex
Learns large lessons from this season moving forward. As
much as it might pain me, if this type of mess rears it's ugly
head again, RR has learned nothing and will have to go.

I don't think anybody cares as much about the 8-8 season or missing the playoffs as they do about the total zoo environment that has come out after the season ended and the fact that it really doesn't look like anything is being done to change it. The team can't proceed as the laughingstock of NY sports and expect the same sort of support.

What would you do Don? Cut Holmes? What else? Nobody even knows who's been chirping other than Holmes and free agency hasn't started.

I would hope first and foremost that Tony can get the players fired up and play for each other and the fans. Of course its bad seeing us lose but when the players don't give 100% that's when fans want blood.

If this franchise has to "take a shit in the streets" just to stay in the news, then there's a big problem. From a purely football POV, the Jets have become irrevelant. If you're talking media zoo, then yeah, the Jets are indeed newsmakers. Perhaps being irrevelant for a few years just might be what this team needs to get its shit together on the field, in the lockerroom and on the CS.

I don't think Tannenbaum gets to hire a third head coach during his tenure. If Rex fails, they both go. I think Woody has a short fuse, unlike Leon Hess. Rex should not be put on a short leash. Tannenbaum should get him a pass rusher. I have been waiting two years now for them to draft one. A good pass rush will take some of the pressure off of our (new) safeties. Our corners can take care of themselves. There is not much to be done about Sanchez. Unless Peyton comes free, and if he does sign here, there will be no other free agents. If a trade is required to get him then there goes our draft. But Rex deserves a pass rusher, and a new right tackle. Using Hunter with no suitable backup was a dumb move, and I blame Tannenbaum's desire to save money for it.

All valid points. Tannenbaum just now is beginning to get some incoming fire for his neglect and shortsightedness regarding the OLine. The Pass Rush has sucked for quite a few years now going back to the Abraham/Ellis days long gone. Tanny hasn't done much (Calvin Pace) to address that situation either. I'm hoping Woody Johnson gets it without fans having to go extremes like stop buying the swag and chanting "fire x guy" on national TV.

In 2010 we were 8th in sacks with 40, which really isn't bad. In 2011, we dropped to 17th, with 5 less sacks at 35. It looks like it is about that time to draft a pass rusher. I don't think we needed one last year, but it would sure help now, although Maybin could break out next year. I'd really like to see our early draft picks go to the offense if we don't pull in a veteran RT and/or veteran receiver.

Rex will be here in 2012 and 2013 MINIMUM. Even if we collapse next season we arent going to head in the 2013 where we are hosting the Super Bowl with a new coach starting over.

Oh please...they're in the news all right, but for all the wrong reasons. Getting media attention has nothing to do with winning games or making fans, at least not this kind of media attention. Nobody's going to read all the s*** going on with the Jets and think, hey they're newsworthy - I think I like them :breakdance:

I agree with you Don but if you think it's a zoo now...if Sparano becomes the HC, he had one winning season in Miami, that would make it a shitshow IMHO.

I'm not sure about that. If the Jets go 8-8 or worse next year, that will be 2 full years of going in the wrong direction (and 4 w/out a title for Rex). Not sure Woody will be so patient. If there is a "big" available HC, I could see Woody jumping at it in the hopes of striking gold at the right time.

I don't think even Woody Johnson is dumb enough to even consider firing Ryan after this year. He would have to go 0-16 and have a porno surface with him and Santonio Holmes strangling a little Sanchez doll ala Robert Chambers to even consider such a thing.

If this coming year is a complete disaster, we can start asking questions about the year after, until then it's just asinine to consider.
