i don't know about the offense being pretty good. if anything, i remember the defense carried the team and the offense just had to manage not to screw up.

Ftr, I don't mean to say I know that a competition will necessarily help Sanchez. LT is not saying that, either. But we don't know whether it would help until it is tried. What has been tried up until now has not worked. Another approach is called for. If Sanchez STILL underperforms, at least there would be another Qb on the roster beside Brunell.

As for Alex Smith, he's a different person than Sanchez, so you can only analogize so much from his situation.

We just played better than they did in the playoffs last year. But if they could have, they would have beaten us 70-3 if given a chance.

And, I never said I wanted a new coach per se. I said that if this mess continues, 2012 might have to be his last.

The problems are a direct result of the culture he instilled. The getting no character guys who can help him win. And when those guys become a .500 team, he is righfully going to get heat..

I never thought the problem with Rex's mouth was with motivating other teams - I felt the problem was the added pressure he puts on his team. The players like him and want to perform for him I think, and when he runs his mouth they want to back it up. That's fine when your team has the talent to do it, but this season the talent level had decreased, yet Rex's mouth kept going. I just think that this causes a team to press and tighten up, leading to mistakes and lousy play. If Rex wants to shoot his mouth off, he should first make sure he has the horses to back it up.

I would love to know what else was going on in the locker room. Sanchez and the receivers not getting along doesn't seem like it would qualify for it being the worst locker room ever. What other shit was happening that left all these vets with a sour taste?

First of all, it is not the main point here. But I was not kidding. There were plenty of people around here who said that Schotty was responsible for the vast majority of the problems on O. Read what LT said. That is not what LT was describing.

Holmes may be of low character. But he's got a point.

As for calling me personally a joke, I think I have cred here, and don't appreciate the personal attack. Your cred on the other hand? Heh. Talk about a joke.

Bahaha. Yeah, continue beating your chest -- you and your "cred."

I'm not getting into this with you.

There have been much better defenses not win 2 playoff games in a single postseason let alone 2 road playoff games. The D gets a ton of credit but the O deserves credit too.

He was here for his locker room leadership and his capabilities as a third down back. Obviously the leadership was over-rated given that the locker room imploded last season and it's not that hard to find a decent third down back.

I think LT is long in the tooth at this point and frustrated and probably not the best player for the Jets in either role.

This is a good question. I have heard a lot worse things going on in locker rooms than a qb and wr arguing over whether the wr is getting enough balls. The sitaution had to have been a lot worse than that for LT to say what he did.

Maybe you're not so stupid after all, since you would lose if you did.

Back in 2005 when the Bills decided to start JP Losman (and release Drew Bledsoe!), part way through the season WR Eric Moulds went ballistic on the sidelines during a game. While Moulds was shipped out after the season, the fact was that Moulds wasn't a primadonna like most WRs. He'd just had had enough of Losman's incompetence. I think that one thing that most NFL WRs care more about than their stats is winning, and when they have a QB who consistently fails to put the team in a postion to win games, they get angry.

Holmes is more of a primadonna than most WRs, but I think that his outburst is more than just simple selfishness. I think it really reflects the team's dissatisfaction with Sanchez, and the only way that gets fix is for Sanchez to play a whole lot better in 2012. Barring that, the problems will only get worse. When teammates say things like "he needs competition" that's a big red flag that they want a better QB.

I agree with this. This is not a TO/McNabb situation where the problem was TO was just bat shit crazy. Tone mgiht be a scumbag off the field, but on the field he has always given it his all, and done everything he could to help his team win.

Even after the Miami disaster, his main gripe seemed to be, "why did he throw to me only once?" That is a very fair point.

Most guys just want to win, and when a team is hyped up as an elite team and fails to win, guys will complain. And if we are being honest, 20 teams didnt make the playoffs. And only 1 has this much drama. Again, there has to be a reason for that.

mark sanchez helped us get to a title game w/o Holmes in 2009, Mark Sanchez helped us get to a title game w/ Holmes in 2010. Holmes then claimed he signed for less to stay w/ the Jets- this isn't the same issue.

What a f*cking soap opera this has become, and since everyone loves to tear down a perceived braggart, we asked for this. Why is this a big story?

Know what? I don't give a sh*t whether Holmes and Sanchez got along at the end of the year. The two made it happen in 2010, and can easily get it back together. Let's stop thinking that all of this petty crap really matters.

You make a really interesting point. There are probably others on the Jets who are just as frustrated at Sanchez's poor performance. They just do a better job of concealing it and not letting it affect their play on the field.

This has to be true. It even makes you wonder about a guy like Keller, who as we all know disappears now and then.

I would be shocked if Keller has anything negative to say about Sanchez. Keller has been a favorite target for Sanchez and has thrived since Mark has gotten here.

    Something sure seems fishy.
First two years, all you heard was how everyone wants to play for Rex.
Now, after an 8-8 season, the wheels have come off and Rex doesn't know what's going on, worst locker room ever?

    I don't get it.
Can't be as bad as it sounds right now, and it was never as rosy as reports led through Rex's first two years. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
