Also worth noting the Redskins were the other team who tried to trade up with the Browns to land Sanchez
Sanchez similarities to John Elway are pretty strong. Note that I did not say talent level, I said similarities. I could see Mike Shanahan busting a nut trying to get him.
Scrambling QB better outside the pocket, makes throws he'd like to have back in double coverage, good in 2 minute drills, leads a lot of late comebacks and game-winning drives, scores a lot of TD's on the ground and needs to be constantly reminded not to put himself at risk, fumbles the ball more than you'd like as a result, throws a good deep ball when the Jets are actually throwing deep to a receiver who can get deep, has a number of very impressive throws under pressure to win games usually on the move when he makes the throw, has performed well in the playoffs. He's pretty much Elway lite at this point only Elway was handed the keys to the kingdom by Dan Reeves and then benched aggressively when he got out of line. Sanchez instead has been constrained by the needs of a veteran team and the punishment for his sins on the field has been dialing back the offense instead of benching him.
What similarities? No comparison in arm, as mobile as Sanchez is he isn't as mobile as Elway- Elway didn't have a great completion % but that's hardly a reason to say they're similar. Elway was prototype - big, strong guy. I just don't see any similarities, I'm sorry. EDIT: Please ignore, just saw the post answering someone else's inquiry.
