I think that Tanny and Ryan stay or go as a package. They are both part of the problem as neither one seems to have a clue about what it takes to build a TEAM vs. a collection of individuals.
When you dink and dunk all day long you do not get separation as the qb was lost and is so timid he is a joke.
I would think when you are 90% sure the ball will not be thrown your way you don't put everything you have into it...
I really don't buy into the "competition for Sanchez" part of what LT is saying. Alex Smith just seemingly turned his career around. And how? Because he was pushed by Colin Kaepernick? I doubt it. More likely, he had good coaching, gained confidence, and built himself a season. And this might be the most concerning thing about Mark Sanchez - he had no shortage of coaches around him.
To be fair when a team selects a QB in rd 2 that does send a message, Sanchez had much more success than Smith early in his career but I'm sure the draft choice did play some sort of a role thouhg I'd credit Harbaugh more than anything else.
2 points: 1. People need to stop pretending they are Peyton Manning. You, me, and everyone else dont know jack shit about where Peyton Manning is playing next year. To constantly say he is not coming is honestly a waste of time for people to write, people to read, and people to respond to (although I am at work now, so I dont mind wasting the time). 2. If not Manning, then this team should got up and get RG3 if possible. Make a play for Flynn. Do something. You cannot waste another season while Sanchez "grows," "matures," "improves," "gets better" or whatever other crap certain people are pretending will happen next year. I think most of it has to happen by March. If you cut Tone now, you dont guarantee another 7.25 mil. If you cut Sanchez, there are future savings as well. But to say they should be here when they are cancers and caused this mess doesnt seem worth the money that is invested in them already. Tanny being fired can happen by the end of the day. Good character guys can be brought in starting in March. And Rex shutting the fuck up can happen any second now.
I don't buy the competition for Sanchez either. Sanchez is highly motivated and hard working. Everything fell apart around him this year.
i wasn't referring to the article so much as what other posters have posted about problem players. holmes is being scape goated but there were others and cro was one that went on the record blaming the offense for the teams bad season. i think that waspretty obvious but if it went over your head, i'm not surprised!
I am pretty sure he did, the Jets were just better teams. You dont think motivation is an issue, go look at the Pats beating us 45-3 or them raping Tebow and the Broncos. Some teams are just not good enough to do anything with the motivation. But Rex not shutting up when his team is never good enough to be a 1 or 2 seed motivates teams. And it just makes him look like a fool when his qb cant back up his big mouth. Or his vaunted defense cant stop a nose bleed for 60 minutes.
What a mess.......this team is fucked. He's earned another season to right the ship, but Rex really needs to turn his act around and tighten up next season, or he needs to go..... hmy:
The OC was the scapegoat not Holmes. There is plenty of lame to go around w/ the O, D(they were the biggest problem) and all the STs TOs.
so they were motivated to beat us 45-3 in the reg season but not w/ a trip to the AFC Championship game on the line? really? you think NE crushed Denver b/c they were motivated? why weren't the Pats motivated to beat us in the same spot last year? or beat the Giants to go 19-0? all that stuff is overblown.
yet you seem to completely dismiss his lack of coaching the team as a whole. yes he coached a great defense to the afc championship game back to back seasons, all while being a very limited one sided coach. has he improved his overall coaching ability? this year says "NO"! you seem to not want to admit to the mans limited abilities and failure to improve on the overall. to get to the superbowl one needs to coach the team as a whole, which rex hasn't a clue.
Our O's were pretty good too, not great but good while he was developing a rookie and 2nd yr QB. Doesn't that make the runs even more impressive? The team had a bad year, it happens. It's mind boggling that any Jet fan would want a new coach.
If you're not kidding here, then you're a joke. I'm not buying into it either. How many good/elite QBs around the league need someone to threaten their job security to motivate them? And how many QBs have needed that along the way? If Sanchez is going to be an upper-echelon QB, then competition in Training Camp is irrelevant.
