if this has been going since 3rd or 4th week, i don't believe Rex didn't know about this...if he actually didn't, i am not sure what the hell he's doing in the locker room.

i know we'll have some cap issues, but i think we should get rid of holmes. i am sure this was a similar reason why steelers got rid of him for a 5th round pick

coughlin never had anything close to the dysfunction this team has shown. also, coughlin coaches the whole team, not just the defense.

rex is a defensive co, nothing more!

So all of the sudden 2009 and 2010 don't count? He fucked up this year. He's earned the right to try and fix his fuckups IMO. If the lockerroom is still a circus next year and the team is losing, he should probably be fired.

Also, for those of you who saw the word pampered and shit your pants, please look at the rest of the sentence.

"Yes he is, I would say a bit pampered because he has no competition. He has no real threat to say this guy may take my job."

Couglin didn't have the success through 3 years either and there was fighting amongst the team- remember some guy named Tiki Barber?

It amazes me how quickly people jump ship, you guys are like the captain of that cruise ship.

I think people want the 1987-1996 version of the Jets.

Isn't it funny how grown men and women get duped by headlines? as if they don't have 30 seconds to read the article to see what was actually said?

I can't remember the Jets being relevant like this since way back when Johnny Mitchell quit on Rich Kotite. So glad Rex has finally given the Jets an identity.

LOL, all that blame for the defense yet, when you get right down to it, the defense is what carried this team! without the defense, the jets offense couldn't get out of it's own way. what's pathetic is your logic, which is clueless!

Jets fans love their head coaches....... for two years.

I think Rex only gets one year to turn things around, which sounds absurd about a guy who just coached the team to two AFC Championship games. But after missing the playoffs as they did, following it up with all this locker room idiocy, and then watching the Patriots and Giants play on Championship Sunday, if not the Superbowl - anything short of a return to positive relevancy is unacceptable.

other than being a good defensive co and a loud mouth, what has he done that makes you think he is head coach material? his 1st year he looked totally clueless on the sideline and did little improvement in his second.
then his third season was an out right disaster!

he's been the coach of a defense, yet has done next to nothing as a coach for the whole team. clearly he should have shown improvement after three years of coaching?

yet after year three, he's still just a very good defensive co! that's all he has shown to this point, if you can't admit that much, you're in denial.

Completely agree. It's make or break next season. Most coaches would have been ousted with the locker room turmoil and discord that occurred this year. However; Rex bought himself some time due to the success during his first 2 seasons.

Realistically, I am seeing the writing on the wall. I don't think Rex has what it takes to be an NFL Head Coach. I also can't foresee how he is going to turn that locker room around before the start of next season. This team doesn't seem to be capable of playing through adversity.

You remember we made the last 2 title games, right? something we had done 2 times in our hisotry and never back to back. I think that alone says he is a good coach but I may be crazy.

I get your point about the absurd angle here, but context is important. It's like when Parcells said you are what your record says you are. Well, in the context of where you are in the standings, and how whatever hopes or fears you had previously played out, whether you predicted better or worse doesn't matter if you end up where you are in the standings.

But this situation, the WAY the Jets are now at 8-8 after having gone to two Champ games, is all about CONTEXT.

8-8 if due to major injuries, perhaps a game or two there stolen by the zebras, that would be one thing.

But 8-8 when two of your highest paid players don't get along and that in turn has badly hurt your offense, when the HC says he didn't know what was going on, when your GM has made moves that create a huge cost in dealing with problems in the locker room, when the perception of the team is so bad it will have to affect FA signings, that's something else.

Of course you recognize this as your post goes on from the absurd remark to your conclusion, yeah, that's the way it is.

Going forward, it would seem that all the apparent choices of what to do have different sorts of downside, but that's another post, even a different thread. But on what LT said, a couple of comments:

    1. Mehta's article. So much for those who dissed the point of Mehta's article because none of the sources wanted to be quoted. Turns out what Mehta said has been totally confirmed by LT.

    2. Schotty's Leaving. Whadya know? Brian left and the team still has huge problems. Go figure. Told ya so.

    3. Competition for Sanchez. Reading through all else, this would seem to be LT's most valuable observation and recommendation going forward. While LT seems to be more on Mark's side than not, he STILL believes the Jets need some real Qb on the team instead of Brunell.

    4. Tanny and Ryan. I agree with those who say Ryan deserves another year, as much as anything because who at this point would want to come in and deal with all this crap? But Tanny obviously has screwed the team with many of his contract moves. He's not such a great judge of talent, either. Maybe he stays on as the capologist or in some much diminished capacity, but imo the single best move the Jets could make right now is to bring in a real football guy as the GM. Leaving both these guys in place would send the wrong message. One has to go, and that should be Tanny.

    That covers it for now.

Holmes has established himself as a top receiver in this league. Sanchez has proven to be a qb who is ranked in mid 20's every year. And you fools want to keep this pretty boy who is marginal at best.

If Holmes is a top reciever in the NFL, then why couldn't he get separation from the DB's? How come he didn't make any plays this year w/o Edwards taking on most of the attention from the defense?

You are comparing a classless loud mouth bragging slob to Parcells. You are lost. Your words make no sense.
