Colts fans are delusional, they still believe Peyton will come back and Luck will sit behind him. I mean these people have to be delusional to believe that at this point. They cant accept the fact thats its over for Manning in Indy.
Wow, you mean Mr. After-the-Fact got another one right once all the information was out? Who could have guessed?
Manning missed an ENTIRE season with a serious neck injury. Reports of him retiring from a very physical contact sport should shock no one.
TheJetsStream Manish Mehta For those asking... No, a PhotoShop image of Rob Lowe in a Jets' uniform will not be on the backpage of the NY Daily News tomorrow.
I hear you man. I can't really remember being as frustrated as I was with that game. The play calling was just atrocious.
Ok ill admit im delusional in reguards to Manning coming to the Jets. Once when he becomes a free agent then I wont be. But lets be real, Manning is not playing another snap in a Colts uniform ever again. Whether it be he retires, they trade him, they release him(most likely scenario). The Colts have made it clear that the "new era in Colts football" is begining, and that quote comes directly from the owner, Jim Isray. How can you start a new era, with a 36 year old QB? The only question now is whether the Colts should trade him and get draft picks or cut him so they dont have to pay the 28 million.
That wouldnt be the only question, since a huge question is going to become will Manning restructure his contract since nobody is going to give up legit value for a 36 year old QB coming off of neck surgery who has a mammoth contract that includes " Manning, 35, would make $69 million over the first three years of the contract, for a yearly average of $23 million." So in other words a team would have to pay this guy over 23 million a year, have fun with that happening. GL to Peyton in free agency, thats all i know
Peyton said today he WONT restructure and apparently theirs some rule that he cant anyway. So if he did hit free agency it would go to the highest bidder or best team, or wherever he desires to play. I dont even think theirs a team that is 20 million under the cap because your not even allowed to be that under I dont think so im not sure what the biggest contract he could possibily get.
Im sure there are teams over 20 million under the cap, as a matter of fact im 100000% certain. Even if there are rules keeping teams from going that far under it, you have to remember a season is just ending now. So contracts are expiring, FA going away, etc etc which means most teams salary caps should be especially low until they resign players + sign free agents + draft rookies.
Ok now im a bit startled. I look at the redskins forum because they are apparently the Jets biggest competition and the first thread I see is of course about Peyton Manning but then it takes a huge twist.... http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/45849-big-rumor-if-colts-take-luck.html Thread Title: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be... a New York Jet. Bringing Mark Sanchez to the Washington Redskins. Some of you I've told this to already. But here it is for the rest of you. The key is the Colts taking Andrew Luck and deciding to move on without Peyton Manning. If that happens. Then the Jets want him, and word is the feeling could be mutual. Feeling is with that defense and running game, Peyton could get one (maybe two) rings to wrap up his career, a la John Elway. I'm not so sure about that, but whatever that's the thought. And then there's also the whole Peyton and Eli both in New York angle. I guess Archie Manning has been letting the Jets quietly know that Peyton would love to play there, again only if the Colts plan to move forward without him. And Rex Ryan and the front office are really intrigued by the possibility. They really like Sanchez but feel that they should be a much more dominating team then they are and are ready to win multiple titles now. And Manning in the short run might give them a better chance at that. As for Manning to the Redskins, I haven't really heard any legit talk about that. Not saying there isn't legit talk of it, I just haven't heard any. So I won't speculate So then as for Sanchez, the thought for the Jets is try to get something like a 2012 2nd a 2013 1st, or two 2nd and a player. Something along those lines. They could get a young QB with one of those picks and let him sit for a year or two while Peyton plays. Redskins are seriously considering making a move for Sanchez if he does become available. The thinking being is there a 2nd round QB this year that would be a better option than Sanchez? Tannehill/Foles, etc? I've been told though that they would absolutely not trade a 1st rounder. But they're not against moving multiple 2nd/3rd round picks and/or even recent fan favorites like Roy Helu. It's always amazing what big name QBs get discussed in trade talks. I remember back in I guess it was October 2008 when I PMd Matty and said the Redskins were looking to trade Jason Campbell for a 3rd. And we both thought it was crazy. Especially since we were 6-2. But sure enough... Or this October when I heard Colt McCoy could be on the move. So a few days ago when I heard about this "starting QB who could be coming to DC", I actually at first thought this was Bradford, since I'd been guessing he'd be possibly traded. Josh Freeman also crossed my mind. But no, it was Mark Sanchez. Checked with a Redskins source, a Jets source, and a media source. They all have verified this rumor. Again, it all hinges on Manning. But if that first domino falls, everything changes. So to basically modify a bit what NC_Skins heard, which was "Should Peyton Manning become available we would plan to be a player" my info is "Should Peyton Manning become available (he Jets could make a move for him and) we would plan to be a player (for Mark Sanchez) So anyway, that there is the big rumor that I heard this week. Quote me elsewhere and you're banned I never heard of Sanchez to the Redskins, crazy things...
Not gonna lie, teams would give up a 1st AND a 2nd for Sanchez !? Maybe its the anti QB bias in me but holy shit. I know for one I would be devastated if assuming Mark was on say the Redskins right now if we went out and traded and 1st and 2nd for him. I don't know if I can buy any of this shit tho, sounds a little far fetched And hmm while your link is from a forum, it was from a moderator with close to 40,000 posts who also said I still personally think its all 100% absolute bullshit for now (and its a month old and this rumor hasnt been through rotoworld or any of the usual news sites)
Their are rules, im not sure when they begin but I know you have to spend at least 90% of your cap money. *edit The rule begins in 2013 where teams MUST spend 89% of their cap. They are calling it a cap floor. So I was wrong it wont effect this Peyton thing. http://tampabay.sbnation.com/2011/7/30/2304918/nfl-salary-cap-floor-doesnt-take-effect-until-2013
It's interesting that the rumor shows up on 12/24/11 in the morning and on the same day Sanchez drops back 65+ times in a game. There is nothing that makes that game plan by the Jets seem any better today than it did 3 and a half weeks ago, however if you look at it as a really stupid attempt to showcase Mark Sanchez then at least there is a really stupid reason for doing it instead of no reason at all.
