This nonsense could really affect potential free agent signings. No FA is going to look at the Jets right now and say, "Yeah, that's where I want to be." I know it's all about the money, but all things being equal, who is going to want to come to a team with a locker room in disarray, where multiple players go public to rip their teammates?
The Jets D is not ggod enough right now to carry this team as was the case of Dilfer in Bmore, Holmes might have started it but several legit people have come out and pointed the fingers all at Mark.....
I know alot of people don't buy into that, but perception means alot and this organization right now is one in almost complete disarray. Weekly now, another player testifies to the dysfunctionality of the New York Jets. Frankly, who the hell would want to go into that situation eyes wide open? Only someone trying to get some of Woody Johnson's money.
oh,they need help on more than just the oline. They need to revamp the pass rush somehow, and safety. But i think the only ones coming out vs Sanchez, are in the recieving dept. Holmes is exactly the type of guy to rip a team apart
It's amazing the difference a little time and a few wins can make. Last year, Tom Coughlin's disciplinarian act was too restrictive, everyone was talking about Rex being the kind of coach guys want to play for. Antrel Rolle even came out and said that. Now, "this isn't a team that any respectable player is going to want to be a part of." Ridiculous. EVERY coach that sticks with a team for any length of time is going to be tested by locker room dissent/team chemistry issues. Every...single...one. It's reasonable to question if Rex can handle 'em, but it is straight up moronic to say he should be fired before he's had an opportunity to try to fix them.
LT hits the nail on the head with this one... the Jets organization needs to fix its rep, stop guaranteeing the superbowl left and right to the media, worry less about the media more about the gameplan, and finally fix the locker room problems
Then he doesn't get it fixed and the team goes back to square one. Until then you should believe based off of his NFL tenure that he will be able to, at the very least, patch this up. By the way, one thing that is being overlooked tremendously: WINNING CURES ALL. If this team makes the right adjustments in the draft and through FA, they should be able to win.
Then he would have to be held accountable. The bottom line is he is in his 3rd year as a head coach. Coaches learn from there successes and mistakes.
Well, yeah, Holmes needs to go, but it seems the Jets are stuck with him. He has no trade value and the cap hit would be brutal. Sanchez will be the QB for 2012. If he fuckin' sucks, then that's it. He won't be the starter in 2013. Is Josh Johnson a free agent? If so, that's the type of QB they should bring in. I thought about Jason Campbell the moment Oakland traded for Carson Palmer. In thinking about it recently, I would not like if the Jets went the Campbell route because there would definitely be a QB controversy. The Jets need to bring in a younger veteran QB who has upside but not too much significant NFL playing time. A low profile guy like Johnson would be the ideal fit. Unlike Brunell, Johnson has a live arm and could actually play if Sanchez needs to be benced after going 9 of 24 for 70 yards and 2 interceptions through 3 quarters. The way it looks to me is that Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes need to get in a room and work it out. Ryan has to explain to them that they will be on the team in 2012 and shit has to work. I didn't want Ryan or Sanchez or Holmes. When the Jets hired Ryan what was I supposed to do? Go root for another team? All I did three years ago was hope. Now I have to hope again. This time I have to hope that Ryan can gain back control of the team.
Tannenbaum is a big phony and an asshole. He was all about bringing in players with good character during the Mangini era. Now he doesn't care about character anymore. Mangini was on to something with the character business.
Just watched the LT interview. One thing is for sure, if he plays next year it won't be with the Jets. They were asking him what would influence him in making his decision where to play. LT basically said the players around him and the ability to win. Collinsworth chimed right in with, "So, not the Jets?" LT just wryly smiled. No defense of the Jets at all. Not a, "I still think the Jets can win", or a "I want to play for the Jets". Oh well.
That could be a positive. It could be that Tanny and/or Rex hinted at not bringing him back and he decided to let loose.
I also liked his thoughts on the workings of locker rooms. LT said there are always players who have problems with each other. He said it's the job of the other players to police that. Once they can no longer do anything about it it's up to the coaches. When talking about Holmes and Sanchez, he said there was an incident in week 3 or 4. The players apparently attempted to deal with it, but late in the year, they could no longer do anything about it and that's when things starting getting out to the media. He said nobody knew about it until late in the season. I wonder if the "nobody" he is referring to was the coaches, the media, or both?
I am glad LT said all that. I respect LT as much as any player in the NFL, and I have been a fan of his for years. If he thinks all this, I have no doubt that it is true. And since it is true, these things need to happen: 1. Tone needs to be gone. 2. The Jets need to bring in high character guys. 3. Tanny needs to be fired. This is as much his fault as Rex's, but Rex is at least a good coach. 4. Rex needs to shut the fuck up. If you win, you can talk. If you have never been more than a 6 seed, you really need to shut the fuck up. 5. Sanchez needs to be gone as well. 6. If Rex cant get the ship on the right course, 2012 might need to be his last year as Jets coach. 7. Bring back LT for another year.
Last time i checked the defense gave up that final drive in the AFC championship agaisnt Steelers Mark wasn't on the field for that. We had the lead at halftime agaisnt the Colts in the first AFC championship and the defense gave up 25 points . Our defense hasn't been clutch when we needed it to be in big moments either, blame Sanchez for the war in Iraq to while were at it blame him for everything its nobody elses fault its his fault to that Holmes and Buress can't get open. And it's his fault that Tanny got rid of his WR's that he knew well and had good chemistry with. Maybe Holmes wanted Sanchez to fail after awile. After awile you could tell Sanchez was to busy paying attention to getting sacked then looking downfield thanks to the O Line and its flaws. Don't blame the defense who in 3 seasons hasn't had a passrusher who had over 10 sacks or best pass rusher was a outcast from Buffalo who had 6 sacks.Thats pathetic by the way we need a guy who can scare defenses besides Revis. Our offense and defense isn't scaring anybody at this point
