Former Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick has been arrested on a marijuana possession charge.
An arrest report on the Manatee County Sheriff's Office web site says Kirkpatrick was arrested at 12:48 a.m. Tuesday and charged with possessing less than 20 grams of marijuana. He was released on $120 bond.
Kirkpatrick is regarded as a potential top 10 NFL draft pick. The second-team All-American announced last week he was skipping his senior season with the national champions to enter the draft.
No further information was immediately available on his arrest. Messages left with the department weren't immediately returned.
It isn't clear what Kirkpatrick was doing in Bradenton, but the town is home to IMG Performance Institute, which helps athletes train for the NFL combine.
A message left with IMG wasn't immediately returned.

From a Jets perspective avoid. No need to add to already deep position with the first round pick.

From another teams I wouldn't think the one arrest if it is just this one time (didn't look into arrest history) then you pay no mind he is a top 10 pick and I would be shocked if he slid at all from this arrest.

Yeah, we need more red-eyed dumb ass dillweeds on this team. This is coming from someone that imbibes. It's one thing to test positive for it, quite another to get busted.

Plus, I just don't trust pot head athletes. I know what weed does to you if you smoke too much. It makes you lazy, physically and mentally. I want better than that playing football on Sunday for the Jets.

Leave the blunt at home, dumbass, you are a high profile athlete with millions at stake.

    No pun intended.

I say no too, but if were to be drafted, I would imagine he might be converted to safety...

He'd be nasty at safety too.

Yeah he would, Hes got the size (if he fills in more) to cover the TE’s and he can tackle well. IMO, if we draft a safety prospect in the 1st, it shouldnt be Barron, but him. That being said, I would rather draft a good amount of other players before him.

I remember there was a thread about CB’s being converted to a safety, Kirkpatrick was the best candidate I thought.

His hips are too good to cast off to Safety, but the sentiment will probably grow if he runs a 4.6.

And if this shocked any team who is considering drafting him, they were probably also shocked to discover Paula Dean has type 2 diabetes...

How does this keep happening? Every year there is always a couple prospects that all of a sudden lose their minds. How dumb could you be?

Dumb enough to not realize that a huge portion of their career’s are determined on the next 3 months.

He's a young kid. Young males, 18-22, Brains aren't "fully cooked" and they do stupid shit.

He made a mistake, I don't see it hurting his draft stock where he will fall into Rd 2/3/4.

A few teams might pass, DK will still be a 1st Rd pick......Welcome to Cincinnati.

Didn't Justin Houston have the same problem last year? Granted he wasn't viewed as a top 15 pick anyway, but he fell kinda hard because of his stupidity didn't he?

To lazy to look it up. :/

This man makes me think that any safety we pick needs the best hips possible.

Yes, Houston dropped to the third round. The Mary Jane had something to do with it, IMO, Houston was overrated as a 1st rd prospect. So many Jet fans had a hard on for Houston, I couldn't understand it. Houston's measurables didn't compare to other potential DE/OLBs last year.

Kirkpatrick is a much better football player than Houston. I expect DK to still be a 1st Rd pick, the draft being so far off will help his case.

I did kinda pull back on that elsewhere, he could be the Future of the position in the NFL. Playing Safety because they can, not because they were unfit for CB.

I did it for McClain, so it was only right that I did it for Swagpatrick.

Exactly. But as WW said, I dont really see him dropping out of the 1st...even the top 20. He is probably the best candidate to cover the TE’s that tear this defense apart though...

Simply because of the number of options in FA and other options in the draft I dont really see this happening.
