Right, so teams like the Jets (and here I'll defend the defense) who gave up over 100 points as a direct result of turnovers are judged only on points given up? C'mon man. The points matter in the individual game. Doesn't mean crap otherwise.
Finally we agree, at least somewhat. Yardage is misleading as well, ala the Pats who in a lot of games give up meaningless yards when leading 49-21.
So the Pack witha good defense would have been able to overcome the offense being dominated by the Giants defense? The Pack put up 20 points and were lucky to do that. Without the benefit of officials calling plays like Rodgers has pictures of them with women other than their wives, the Giants win that game in a huge blowout. Tell me how a good defense would have mattered there? They lose 23-20 instead of 37-20?
I want Peyton to retire and become the OC at UT. Walking is very under rated. I want a true QB competition between Sanchez and McElroy. Winner starts. We don't need but 2 qbs. If both get hurt we can sign someone to hand it off. Draft Trent Richardson and Nick Toon. Get a Free agent RT and S. Play Jet football.
Caldwell is fired. Colts say they are taking Luck. New GM, New Head Coach, New QB. Im pretty sure Peyton knows at this point hes leaving Indy, keeping Peyton would only delay the New Colts team and Luck said he wants to play anyway. This is going to be interesting no matter where he lands.
Would that be "Same Old Jets" football, like blowing games against bad teams, coming out flat in big games, mental mistakes, etc? Cuz I'm not sure what "Jet football" means otherwise. Even when we're good we make dumb mistakes and lose bad games. Let's start a whole new tradition and call it Green Football or something! hahaha
Jim Isray said in the press conference that they are starting a "new era in Colts football". They are starting over.
Not sure why you think spending a huge amount of money to bring in a fragile Peyton and not having enough left to address the issues at other key positions is somehow going to be a magical ticket to a championship.
dont know which level headed fan would want Manning here. too much money thus further crippling our already shit depth at OL, WR, S, OLB,ILB, and DE. yes lets tie up 18 mil plus/yr into someone whos one hit away from a straw operated hover-round and this is coming from one of the biggest peyton manning fans around
Favre wasn't that bad. Granted keeping Chad for another few years (and still drafting Mark) would have been better, but who knew if Chad was even going to make it through a season. Favre did play well before he got hurt, and he was an upgrade at the position. Had the Jets gone deep into the playoffs he might have stayed, and he obviously had one great season left in him. Manning would not be Favre all over again. Manning is a much better Quarterback, but you brought up why he's not Favre. Favre had no major injury when he came to the Jets. The nature of Peyton's injury, along with the investment we have in Sanchez makes him a much more risky bet than Favre was. Like you pointed out at the end, He's not Favre all over again, he could end up being much worse than Favre was for the Jets.
With a decent defense the Packers do not give up 37 points at home. With a decent defense the Packers offense has more time on the field/more opportunities to put up points. We all know that anything can happen on any given Sunday in the NFL, but if the Packers had just a decent defense to go along with their offense led by their elite QB then they would most likely be playing again this weekend. The same thing works the other way. A good/decent defense (like the Jets) suddenly looks a lot better if the offense doesn't specialize in 3 and outs and can replace FGs with TDs.
Favre was awful, the decision to trade for him cost is a division title BUT it brough us Rex and Sanchez so we won in the end. Favre is like Manning though- both overrated chokers. we don't need to make the same mistake again
