We were discussing the defense, not the offense. And don't tell me that the offense was the only reason the defense was average this year. It contributed, but pointing to the offense in response to my answer about the defense makes no sense.
If I'm going to bring an old guy hoping to regain past glory it would be John Abraham, not Peyton Manning.
You act like the Jets defense is the only ones who ever gives up 3rd and longs occasionally. If they were so bad, why are they ranked in the top 10 in almost every category? Answer that. That was the ONLY long drive they gave up the entire afternoon. If one drive is deciding the game, then that shows you all you need to know about the offense.
You better turn off your PC and your TV then because if you are sick of this now you will be much sicker in a little while when free agency starts. That will be ALL you hear about then.
LOL Funny, the guy who wouldn't find a clue with a map and a flashlight tells me to get a clue. Tell me, if the Jets go out of their way to overpay for Manning, where are they getting the money to fix all their holes? In case you hadn't noticed, the OL is a huge hole.
Youre clueless for even slamming the defense to begin with. You want to see bad defenses? Watch NE and Green Bay play sometime. They wish they had a defense like that Jets.
Wayne Hunter being cut saves 2.5mill. Another RT can be found in FA for that figure. He is the major hole in the OL. Brick won't have an off year like he did this year, Mangold is top notch, Slauson is average, and Moore gave up 0 sacks the entire year. Replacing RT will work wonders.
Youre playing guys who werent even good enough to make the Jets starting squad. Put the pipe down. You couldnt stop anyone this year and if it wasnt for Brady, you would be in the cellar.
I never said the offense didn't contribute. I am simply saying that the defense was no better than average. I'm not going to argue with you all day, especially if you are going to resort to insults. But I can tell you that if you know football at all and watched this team all year, the defense wasn't all that good. Period.
Psssst, the Pats had a higher ranked defense than the Jets this year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/t...alPointsPerGame/position/defense/seasontype/2
I bet. I bet Rodgers and Brady exchange text messages on a daily basis wishing they could have a defense good enough not to even be in the playoffs while they're both #1 seeds. GImme a break. You can't even be realistic.
I'm certainly not claiming that the Pats have a good defense by any measure. But it's not a horrible defense. Rankings mean CRAP. Anyone who watched the Jets this year will realize that rankings don't mean anything when the team forgets how to tackle or cover receivers when it gets to crunch time. This discussion is getting stale. You guys go study your stat sheets, I'll continue to actually watch the games.
Michael Smith on ESPN's "Numbers Never Lie": "If I was Peyton Manning, I'd retire before coming to the circus that is the Jets." Ahhh....the national Jets love continues.
What did I miss? 9-7, 6 seed, making a run with no playoff game. 11-5, 6 seed, making a run with no playoff game. 8-8, no playoffs. They have never shown they can win 12+ games (necessary to get a bye), win consistently, or even get to a SB. Not sure why you think that is changing. You want me to list Manning's accomplishments now. Or should I just say 2-14 as proof of how great he is?
Points arent a total indicator of defense because points are also added in if the offense is crap (IE Jets offense). Fumbles, pick 6s, turnovers in their own territory that lead directly to opposing teams points arent the defenses fault. Yardage is much more telling of a defense.
If they had the Jets defense, they would win the super bowl along with their current offense. The Packers D cant stop a nose bleed and youre going to see how much easier the Ravens will have it on offense this week against a pathetic Pats defense.
