Yes i'm calling him a clown and I think you're been way over presumptuous as to your HOF prediction. Rex did change the culture of the Jets, you are correct, but now that culture is one of disfunction. Rex is not what a HC needs to be, and that is involved and connected to EVERY facet of the team. He lets his coaches run the other aspects of the team and only concerns himself with defense. That is not what a HC does. What are you going to tell me,he's involved with the offense because they have ice cream together on tuesdays? PLEASE! Open your eyes and see this guy for what he is,a glorified DC with a HC job. I'd have more respect and hope for the guy if he acknowledged he needed to change his ways. But his "i'm gonna be me" battle cry doesn't give me much hope for the future. I pray i'm wrong but I don't know?
He was also REJECTED by Miami (who just fired the guy they chose ahead of him) and Atlanta (whose Head Coach Mike Smith just pulled the ripcord on his golden parachute a year later than he should have). Some teams just prefer a different personality. So far it hasn't worked out for 2 of the 3 teams that REJECTED him.
So far he has NOT worked out with us either since he is 0-3 in bringing us the VLT . In fact he is lucky Woody is so cheap because otherwise he would be have been fired with what occurred to our "team" this past season but since Woody had just extended him 2 more years he got a waiver on being fired.
Coaching contracts are made to be broken. Schottenheimer just got a recent extension as well. BTW, how many VLTs has Harbaugh won the Ravens again?
irrelevant in the game of football and as far as coaching skills go, plus he has been pretty quiet this year aside from a few comments here and there blown out of proportion by the media. Same as #1. Media perception does not equal truth or have to do with our play on the field Speculation and only affects the offense under Schotty. Speculation. Schotty's gone, it should say something about accountability. Would you have preferred Rex calling offensive plays? Look bud, you don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes with the team. You sure think you know everything and essentially can't find anything better to do than bash one of the better HCs we've had in a while. If the problems continue into next season THEN you can start blaming Rex, but it looks like he has every intention of fixing the issues. They've already started. It's easy to brush aside all the good things he's done because of one frustrating season, but there certainly isn't just one person to blame. Schotty I think deserves a large portion of it, as does Wayne Hunter and Ferguson.
I would like to think that Rex Ryan is far too busy with is own team to even give a thought to the playoffs right now. This isn't a normal off-season - he's got a lot of work to do and none of it can wait. If he's sucking his thumb and crawled up in a ball in a corner somewhere because of the Giants, Pats or Ravens and their fortunes, then the guy needs to go immediately.
Yea but Shotty resigned so he lost out & as I stated in my EARLIER post Woody is to CHEAP to eat the final 2 years of RR contract so we are stuck with him until his contract expires. BTW the same goes for Tanny as RR
You do not think how he destroyed his so called team this year he should have already being fired by Woody?
Personally, and as a businessowner, I ABSOLUTELY think he should have been fired. But the reality of the situation is that they aren't going to fire him for this, he seems to have bought himself a few extra chances based on the first two years of success. But if that's me, he's out the door and I'm getting me a new coach, one who knows what's going on with is players, his coaches, and doesn't motivate the other team more than his own.
This is one thing that bugs me about some of Rex's antics. After three years you'd think he'd learn not to rile up the opponent. Sending Plax out as the sole captain vs. the Giants is a prime example. How was that supposed to motivate the Jets? Just dumb.
Thank god you're not the owner. And after the win against the Colts and the Patriots, everyone was clamoring about what a great motivator he was. Such a bi-polar fan base.
If the Colts released Peyton and Peyton decides to call Rex late night during his turducken dinner and says, "I'd like to play for you coach." Rex would bust a nut and run like a mammoth to Tanny's house to find a way to get Sanchez off this team
I'm not bi-polar as a Jet fan - I've long since passed that stage. I try to deal with reality as much as possible these days. I didn't get too high off of the championship game appearances, and I didn't get too low based on the mess they turned into this year. So you got the wrong guy, although you have no way of either knowing or confirming what I just said so you can be forgiven. However, in "real life", when you run a business and the guy you have managing your people has no clue what his staff is doing, no feel for the team because he lets his underlying supervisors do everything without his input, a staff that is running amok speaking ill of everyone else, and that guy stands there spouting the same crap about how everything is great and he's not changing - that guy goes. Gone. Doesn't matter if he was sales manager of the year for two years running - once he loses the staff, he's lost the staff. I realize that it wouldn't work that way in such a high profile position, but it should. He's got a lot of shortcomings, and it will be IMMENSELY difficult for him to get control of the team and at the same time change his demeanor to that of a coach and not a glorified friend to everyone, all the while trying to overcome his penchant for not being involved too closely with the offense. That stuff all has to happen for him to be successful. I bet it's too big of a chore.
Well if you never have jumped on the Rex bangwagon then I apologize, but it's annoying to see people worship the guy when he gets us to 2 AFC championships then the season comes where he's probably 1-2 plays from making the playoffs, then demands he gets fired, it's kind of hard not to scoff at. And sometimes in the work place there are disputes that you, the boss, don't know about. We're human, things get by us sometimes.. I realize a coach is suppose to have a pulse on his team, but has it ever occurred to you that maybe people were biting their tongue on how they felt about Sanchez and these "anonymous" sources finally went out and said something. Or these people just snapped in general due to an upsetting loss? What the fuck is Rex suppose to do about that? From what I saw, I remember a certain WR on our team being sent packing the minute he started causing drama in the locker room. A big problem is we have nothing to threaten a lot of these players with because of these damn guaranteed contracts we've given them, and maybe that's Rex's fault or Tanny's -- I have absolutely zero knowledge of what transpired during those transaction but that was stupid because no we have nothing to really threaten them with if they start acting like drama queens. and even still -- you must have a high turn over rate if you fire people the minute shit hits the fan or people make mistakes. Wait and see how he remedies the situation, how he adapts to it, corrects mistakes, then pass judgement. The firing of Schotty is already a step forward. I'm starting to rant now but in my eyes, I don't fire the guy who just had very two successful seasons prior to this one. Especially when there aren't many, if any, better choices. I love how people scream "Let's get Cowher!!" yet forget it took that guy 13 fucking years to win a SB and we're already willing to just let Rex go after one average season. I'm not saying he's immune to criticism but to just fire him is rash and imprudent.
