    A perfect example of this was the Texans-Ravens game on Sundy.

    If the Texans had Schaub for that game, they win going away.

    How do we know this? how do we know Schub doesn't throw a bunch of bad INTs? Schaub has had chances to get Hou to the playoffs nearly every year the last few years and failed to do so.

    Do you seriously think Schaub throws 3 picks into double and triple coverage?

    The gameplan is totally different for Bal w/ a evt at QB for Houston. To me Schaub is nothing more than a stat guy until he starts winning some big games. I'm nit sure they get to Baltimore if Schaub is the QB.

    If this Manning thing comes to pass....what time of the year will it be announced....When could we expect to have a clear picture of the Qb situation for next year. I'm a little blinded by the aura of the Peyton possibility....it's an exciting prospect but I also can see the pitfalls involved. I'm still in the camp of improving the offensive line and letting Sanchez have one more year with the new OC. If the worst case scenario is they decide to bring in Manning...I'm not crying the blues.

    Thank you, Peyton, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come on here and tell us that you are not an option. It is very nice of you.

    Wait a second, are you saying the Texans are a better team with TJ Yates at QB instead of Matt Schaub?

    My guess is that it will be resolved by the 2nd week of March. I believe Indy has to pick up the 28 mil at the beginning of March, and when they dont he becomes a free agent. At that point, teams will pounce, for obvious reasons, and he will probably take a week or two to decide.

    Either way, by the end of the 2nd night of the draft, we will have one of 3 things be the case:

    1. Peyton Manning be the QB of the Jets;
    2. Mark Sanchez as qb with a veteran brought in to challenge him;
    3. Mark Sanchez as qb, with a pick used in one of the 1st 2 days on a rookie qb.

    Look, at this point it is still unlikely. But, it is not impossible. And if there is so much smoke that every NFL analyst keeps taking about it, why piss on people's parades?

    I think it's kinda unlikely he'll be an option, but I don't think we can completely rule out the possibility, at this point.

    It would definitely not be an option you should be hoping for. The type of money he will command would cripple the Jets' ability to put him in position to succeed. I doubt he'd even entertain the possibility anyway.

    The Jets are a PR nightmare right now and their offensive line sucked pass-blocking ass most of the season. Peyton Manning is not as stupid as some Jets fans are making him out to be. The whole thing would be a terrible situation.

    Even if the Jets realistically pursue the guy, he'd never want to die in a Jets uniform. Green is a bad color to die in.

    I agree. I still think it's much more likely we'll go into next season with Sanchez and a new, veteran back-up, and I'm okay with that, but Peyton coming to the Jets wouldn't be the craziest thing that has ever happened in the NFL. If he becomes available - and that certainly seems like a possibility considering the money he's owed, the injury, and the fact that the Colts could be going into rebuild mode - I gotta believe the Jets' brass will consider the possibility.

    Honestly, no one is giving him 30 million. Lets get that out of the way right off the bat. I think many are assuming he is a 30 million player enxt year, and he is getting nowhere near that. Coming off a missed year, a bad injury, and being 36, he is going to gt a 10-15 million dollar contract. Now, the question, for cap purposes, is how that will be structured. And there are a million ways to structure the deal that wont kill the cap. Plus, you figure that if Sanchez can get advertisement deals being a shitty qb, and Manning already being the face of the NFL, there will be a million more advertisement deals available to him in NY (the Lebron argument, if you will).

    So, even if he comes here for 12 mil, he should easily be able to supplement that with another 6-8 million, easily in advertisement deals (I can just picture the ads with him and his brother already).

    So, with that said, and everyone pushing him to go to NY, I am not sure why he would not entertain the thought. And when he does, and sees a top 10 defense in a bad year, which will add pieces this off-season, a solid o-line, which will get a new RT. A solid hb, LT (you better believe he will come back for the minimum to play with Manning), Tone, Wayne?, a big WR they will draft for him, and whoever else they add, this is as attractive a situation as there will be for him this year. It is really a match made in heaven.

    And with him having 3-5 more years, and knowing that he needs to win another SB (maybe 2 if Brady wins a 4th), to be the GOAT, the only option for him will be NY.

    But the bottom line, and what you are missing, is that Woody has always said he wants a franchise qb. Those dont grow on trees. It is why he went and got Favre. It is why he pushed for Sanchez. He wants teh face of his team to be a great qb. Now, you think he likes what Sanchez has become as the qb? Because I dont. And if that is the case, and with probably no chance to get Luck or RG3, the only other way to get a stud qb is to get Manning.

    And that becomes even more of a need if the Giants beat SF and go to the SB.

    Peyton Manning will get 20 million from some team that doesn't appear to be a train wreck right now like the Jets do.

    'Everyone' is pushing him to New York? No they aren't. ESPN is, and so is the NY media. Peyton Manning will decide on his own where to go. He'd be stupid to come to the Jets, and Peyton Manning may be ugly, but he is not stupid.

    Now you're talking about restructuring multiple contracts to fit him in here. Most times, restructuring means giving guaranteed money to players and pushing that cap hit back further.

    Yes, Woody wants a franchise QB. At all cost. He's got an inferiority complex and he needs to be able to look in the mirror and see more than a bald little fellow with a big green baseball cap. Look at the guy. He looks like an old man version of Charlie Brown, for crying out loud. And if he pushes Tanny to do this, he will set the team back at least half a decade, likely more. Just because a QB nearing 40 with a surgically repaired spine has name recognition and one Super Bowl ring.

    We did? You mean all season long or for stretches? The defense was NOT good this year, at all. Way too many long 3rd down conversions allowed, way too many big plays, and with t he exception of a couple of college-level QBs that we shut down, we didn't shut anyone down.

    And as for running the ball.............c'mon man!

    Manning is 36, and is coming off of not one, not two, but THREE neck surgeries!!!! You wanna pay a guy like that to come here (either with cap money or draft picks), not fill the other holes (because we won't have picks or money left) and expect him to be successful???

    Really? You want to hamstring the cap and/or give away picks to stop the Dolphins from having him? What's he got left - even if healthy - 2-3 years? Let them pay for him and hamstring THEIR cap for a couple of years.
