I would like to think with all the playoff experience we had we would have been able to handle the Texans but it would have been a tough fight with the Patriots.

It would sure be interesting with all that happened last year when they played and how Brady hasn't won a playoff game in how many years and all this crap.

But it would be like a win-lose because it the Jets did some how win against the Pats, I don't think Shotty would be out with back to back to back AFCG so in a way its a good thing we are not in the playoffs.

This shitty season was hard to deal with but I think it will be benefit the Jets in the long run.

OK, that's fair. What is your reasoning, exactly?

Ill be honest, I think we got lucky that we missed the playoffs. Truthfully I think we had enough vulnerabilities that woulda kept us out of winning the superbowl (safety, ol, wr, rush defense) but at the same time this team is too fricken good in the playoffs to not win a game or 2.

So we woulda just ended up beating up on the incredibly scrubby wild card teams which were all a gimme, and maybe another game on top of that, before our flaws caught up to us.

Then wed be looking at drafting in the late 20s instead of mid teens ready to grab an immediate impact player. Not to mention winning likely woulda saved Schitty and many of our coaching staffs jobs. Instead we got this great purge and overhall which could benefit us much more in the long haul.

And finally I think the biggest thing it does is the sobering effect itll have on our team making players realize that our team isn't that great which hopefully has a substantial impact on redefining who we are next year

you can pretty much never stop the Pats O entirely and I had no faith in our O by the end of the season to score more than 12 points.

    Agree completely with this.

I think in the long run, this was a good thing.. there was no way we were winning the SB and we would have just wound up in the same position next year, as this one.

The Patriots arent that good. They didnt beat a single team with a winning record all season. They are 2-2 against playoff teams (both wins against the Broncos). The Ravens are 6-0 against playoff teams (and should be 7-0 after they beat Houston), the Patriots will get bounced next week, mark my words

Knowing what I know now, we may not have gotten far. Some players did not want to fight for others, there was no togetherness. I believe in what Woody said about the off season fostering of togetherness. We needed to be at Cortland.

In an interesting twist, had they lost one of their two Jets games, they WOULD have beaten a team with a winning record.

After watching last week's game, I think the JETS would've / could've beaten Houston. Then gotten killed last night by the Pats for the 3rd time this season.

As much as not making the playoffs sucks, In the big picture I think things may have worked out better for the JETS, forcing them to really evaluate and address issues to keep them competitive for the long haul....hopefully

    :shit:

The Jets want to play like the 49er's but the defense the o-coordinator and the running game did not allow it.

The worst thing that can happen to a ground and pound team is three and outs it puts way to much pressure on the defense and that is what happened to the jets.

Last year the jets were ground and pound but were able to come up with some big plays this year the big plays were few and far between. Better O better D.

So to answer your question if the Jets made the playoffs they would have been out the first round.

If they had lost to any of us, the Broncos, the Raiders, the Chargers, the Eagles or the Cowboys...all would have had winning records. Can't do anything but play the schedule. The Pats had a similar schedule to us and went 13-3, while we went 8-8. They are a much better team than we can dream about this year and are one of the top 4 teams in the league....unfortunately.

No. Unfortunately, with the 2 Jets / Pats game I saw, it looks like the Pats have figured out how to attack Rex's defense. Having zero pass rush also hurts.

The Texans defense would have eaten the Jets offense, shit it out, smeared it in Shotty's face, then kicked him, Sanchez, the WR's and the O-line in the nuts just for fun.

Pats would have beaten us -- no Leonard and no speed to cover the tight ends...wouldn't have been as bad as the broncos but 14 point loss.

Imo there is not one team that WE could not beat. We had a bad habit of beating ourselves. How do you beat yourselves look at the Packers game. They reminded me of our team. Stupid turnovers and players not executing to their ability.

Make no mistake abt it any given Sunday the Jets can beat ANY team!

Yes it is cool to not have Schotty but, I rather be in the playoffs year in and year out. If we made it close with Schotty, I think with Sparano we should be good for title contention soon.
