Russell Shepard is going pro http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2012/01/lsu_wr_russell_shepard_tweets.html
LSU CB Morris Claiborne will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft. The NCAA's premier cover cornerback, Claiborne earned Thorpe Award accolades in a six-interception campaign, also leading the nation in interception return yards. Claiborne picked off 11 passes in his final two college seasons and was also a dynamite return specialist, averaging 26.3 yards with a touchdown on kickoffs. In terms of pure cover skills, many NFL scouts consider Claiborne a better prospect than 2011 No. 5 overall pick Patrick Peterson. Like his fellow LSU alum, Claiborne projects as a shoo-in top-ten draft choice as per rotoworld http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7461/morris-claiborne
Alabama RB Trent Richardson CB Dre Kirkpatrick ILB Dont'a Hightower Alabama RB Trent Richardson and CB Dre Kirkpatrick will forgo their senior seasons and enter the 2012 NFL draft. They'll be joined by ILB Dont'a Hightower, a fourth-year junior. Richardson was the 2011 Doak Walker Award winner as the nation's top running back and projects as a top-ten pick. A powerful and versatile prospect, Richardson is listed at 5-foot-11, 224 and has a thick lower half built for pass protection. He is NFL-ready from a tackle-breaking standpoint and should run a forty time in the 4.4s. Kirkpatrick (6'3/192, listed) is an ideal zone cornerback prospect drawing comparisons to Charles Tillman and Quentin Jammer. Hightower (6'4/260) is a thumping, early-down inside 'backer. He has the potential to join Kirkpatrick and Richardson in the draft's first round http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7462/trent-richardson

Michael Brockers, DT, LSU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...bQkP4C&usg=AFQjCNGXIVoQqcKah54gIQyCwrU-b-rgiA
Rueben Randle, WR, LSU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...t-GEAw&usg=AFQjCNGpXPKlRueOBvTu981L85FlmVVuAg
I like Ranle as a mid round guy. Good size and decent enough in all other areas. Where do you think he goes. I'm hoping around mid third.
Randle's game was hurt by medicore QB play. RR can be a bigtime playmaker and has terrific size, could gain a few pounds on his frame. I think Randle could be a late 2nd or early/mid 3rd round pick. If the Jets don't address WR in rd 1 or 2, Randle could be a great option in Rd 3.
Jonathan Massaquoi, DE/OLB, Troy A player I mentioned over a year ago that is a good pass rusher. Had a down year compared to an incredible 2010. Has already graduated and is 24 years old. Same school as Dware. Good size 6'3", 270 and could be a 3/4 Rd prospect. http://www.google.com/url?url=http:...saquoi&usg=AFQjCNH5ZDzf-xUF6gJBUCUYvCuyEF5VZQ
Not an insult to him whatsoever but i have this feeling he is going to be available in the 5th. Not because of lack of ability but lately players like himself have dropped into the later rounds. Not that I would mind because he'd be a great pick that late.
He needs work, he broke out this year but I dont know if he lived up to the hype when he was recruited. OH BTW Russell Shepard is going back to school https://twitter.com/?tw_e=screennam...etembed#!/LSUShep10/status/158000216136622081
Marcus Forston is a DT out of Miami, not an OT. By the way, as a Cane fan Im sick and tired of watching kids from the U go in the mid rounds and end up being immediate impact studs: Calais Campbell (late 2nd rounder, bout to be Franchise tagged) Jimmy Graham (3rd rounder, ProBowler), Orlando Franklin (2nd rounder OT for Broncos who had an amazing rookie season), Sam Shields (undrafted CB), Colin McCarthy (4th round LB, took over as a starter half way through the season). These are the under the radar Canes, who by the way are the biggest representation in the playoffs. Yet the Jets haven't drafted or signed one since Vilma. You want good value? Look at Olivier Vernon (OLB) Tommy Streeter (WR) and Brandon Washington (OT/OG). All of those guys will be mid to late rounders, and all have more talent than any of the aforementioned mediocre-Canes-turned-NFL players.
Are there any Aldon Smith, JJ Watt players the Jets can get at 16 who have declared or are draft eligible?
Darron Thomas, QB, Oregon I don't get why he's coming out, bad move. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...2P3sDg&usg=AFQjCNHNuFWcQQpTkETJkiB6tVgPLNpcjA
Smith is basically a 3-4 OLB and Watt is more or less a 5 Technique DE, both are 2 different players. Smith is very athletic and a great pass rusher. Watt controls the line of scrimmage and uses his strenght to beat O-lineman to make plays. Watt reminds me of a young Richard Seymour. As far as your question, the outlook of 3-4 DEs in Rd 1 is very thin, compared to last year. I'm glad we got Mo Wilk last year. The outlook of 3-4 OLBs is a lot more promising. Upshaw, Mercilus, Nick Perry, Vinny Curry, Ronnell Lewis.....I would say the odds are good one of them might be a Jet.
Thank the horror show that was the coaching staff for the previous decade. BWash will be a really good player if he stays at guard, no question. If the Canes didn't need him to step in for Seantrel he'd have been a lock top 2 round guy. He still should be, but it's shaky. Vernon and Streeter are both guys who could be really good in the NFL if they are committed to making themselves better. I'm not sure what Streeter's deal was before this season, but there's no reason 6'5 with that speed should have taken until his fourth year to do something with crap ahead of him. Vernon has flashed but is wildly raw. I'd love to get him, but only later on, and as the 2nd OLB the Jets take.
Last year was pretty stacked with 34 DEs, but this year has some good ones, potentially. I think Jerel Worthy would be nasty in that spot, so would Thompson and Cox. Still and Brockers could too, even though they probably fit better in other Ds.
Alvester Alexander another MWC RB from Wyoming has declared... my guess is he ends up as an UDFA. Not a good decision.
