i have always been a sanchez supporter but he does deserve to come into question.

people constantly absolving him of all fault need to whipe his man juice from their mouth.

the turnovers are ridiculous, plain and simple. his performance when needed most was simply not there. and lastly, he misses a good amount of "gimme" plays every game when the NFL margin of error is almost non existant.

that being said, hes got the clutch gene, and has performed his best in the playoffs which is something that makes or breaks most franchise qb prospects.

the OL let him down this year and Tanny should be on notice for an overall lack of depth on the roster compounded by the musical chairs at WR Sanchez has had.

his droopy dog sideline demeanor is pretty laughable.

that being said, I think he has the tools, he just needs consistency, and if it doesnt start happening with a revamped staff (and hopefully a new WR and RT)then hes clearly not the answer.

He deserves at least 2 more years.

How did other QB's do when their #1 offensive weapon sulks for weeks and then quits at crunch time ? Let's make the comparision apples-to-apples.....go back to the games where Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson put themselves on the bench.

Denver ? We were up at the end, the D lost the game. I blame the special teams, they should have pinned Denver at the 2 yard line instead of the 5. 95 yards is too short a field obviously.

Giants ? Mark sucks when he passes 67 times.

6 road games is a big enough sample.

    Absolutely not.

But Sanchez's QB rating with the SAME TEAMS went up 20-25 points in the playoffs while Ryan's DROPPED by a like amount.

So the same teams played in the regular season and playoffs.....1 QB/team won alot, the other didn't....the only big noticeable change is the QB ratings and performance.

    You tell me.....

Because Sanchez clearly raised his QB performance in the playoffs by 20-25 points.

And I'm not saying it was only Sanchez.

Yes, after the Patriots conquer Mount Tebow. Oh what a glorious victory it will be. Talk about a soft road.

I'm sure the Steelers thought the same thing.

Everything broke perfectly for Den last week

    Ben hobbling
    Pouncey out
    Clark out
    playing at home
    Mendenhall out

NE will beat Den by double digits easily- they should. They arenn't playing Bal or the Jets.

Yeah. Injuries like Roethlisberger had kind of level the playing field. And the Steelers defense is not what it has been in years past.

Let's not make your upcoming victory over a QB that completes 10 passes a game into some epic battle. The Pats are the prototype team to beat Denver.

to be fair this put down would have been much better if we had not lost to them as well :)

still i expect the pats to comfortably beat the Broncos (not least because they have seen the broncos last game and will not make the same mistake as the Steelers did which was having no safety cover deep so that every pass that did connect seemed to go for half the field).

His YPA has gone down every year. What that means is the distance we move the ball down the field every time Mark makes a throw regardless if its completed or not has dropped every year he has progressed. Not a good stat.

Yep. I'll sign on this. You don't draft a QB in the first round, have him show the sparks that Sanchez has, and then cut and run at the first sign of trouble.

I do think the Jets need to clear the malcontents out of the locker room though. Holmes has to go. Even if things smooth over Sanchez is never going to forget that Holmes threw him under the bus and that kind of chemistry is poisonous.

Burress has to go. He's 35 and slow as molasses. The red zone stuff is still there but everything else is not and the man should never be on the field when the Jets are outside the opponent's 10 yard line.

The the Jets need to find the third anonymous rat and let him go too. Rebuilding that locker room is going to require a lot of accountability on all sides, Sanchez included, letting an anonymous source hang around would do a lot of damage to that effort.

This is on Rex now. He either has control of the situation by March 1st or he has no business being an NFL head coach.

I'll sign off on this. You know what would be a kick in the balls? If it was Hunter. It is like he was a saboteur. He was never as bad as he was this season. It looked intentional at times.

Either that, or he has a significant head injury that he has not yet reported to the Jets medical staff.

I understand the thinking behind getting rid of Holmes. But consider the following:

    - The cap hit is huge. Huge.

    - Holmes had game winning TD's this past year. He is a clutch player who wants the ball when it counts.

    - Holmes is the best skill position player on the team. Beyond question.

    - Despite his past transgressions, he has stayed out of trouble in his personal life, which to me was a big concern about him. That he has done so shows some growth, even if he's still an asshole.

    - The Jets will most likely get rid of Burress. So we are supposed to think it a good thing that the Jets will have TWO new starting wideouts next year??? And Keller is no sure thing to return, either, nor is LT, the best receiving RB. Kerley will return no doubt, but it is entirely possible the Jet receiving corps would be missing its top four receivers from this past year if Holmes also goes. How does that affect Sanchez?

    - Holmes may have acted inappropriately, but we don't know that he is the one behind the Mehta story. In any event, who can blame him for being frustrated? The problems he is concerned about do not go away with cutting him. If I were him I'd be pissed, too.

    - Some of what Holmes may have been concerned about, likely was, concerned Schotty. Many/most fans here hated Schotty. Feeling as you do about Schotty, how would you have liked to be Holmes this past season (in other words, stop for once only thinking in terms of the widespread manlove for Sanchez around here)?

    - I also have no doubt that the CS mishandled Holmes's situation this past year. Making him the captain was a mistake. Not saying anything to him during the Eagles game, among others, was a mistake. The fish game incident did not come out of nowhere.

    - Wideouts in the NFL are, as a group, the prima donnas of the league. Personality issues come with the territory. You can name on one hand the number of top receivers who have no issues. Holmes is only different in degree in that regard, not kind.

Add those factors in, and I don't think Holmes is going anywhere.
