Ok, first off this is highly speculative on my part. It might be total bs, a coincidence, whatever. Anyway... I took portions of the anonymous quotes from this thread: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=70369 and ran them through google to find if any of the less common phrases in the quotes were previously used by players or coaches which could give us a hint to who the lockerroom leaks were. Quote: “Come on. That’s a no-brainer,” a Jets source said. “If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.” Suspected Source: Derrick Mason He's used the term in an interview after he signed with the Jets: “Why not join a team that has been to the AFC championship the last two years?” Mason said. “After a while, it became a no-brainer.” http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/08...-goal-in-mind-says-joining-jets-a-no-brainer/ The only other member of the Jets I found to use the term "No Brainer" in an interview was Rex Ryan. It would be pretty funny if the quote came from Rex. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20...28_1_jets-coach-rex-ryan-jason-taylor-brainer ------ Another Quote I found a match for: “At one point, he was looking at the (pass) rush and wasn’t seeing the receivers,” a team source said. “I think that’s a lack of confidence in what we’re doing. I think that's a lack of confidence in how we’re protecting him... When you get hit the way that he got hit, there were some quarterbacks that wouldn’t have made it through the season.” Suspected Source: LaDainian Tomlinson This one isn't as strong, but Tomlinson had the closest quote I could find, and after I saw it, I reread the anonymous quote and it sounds a whole lot like LDT. Classy and honest, giving the whole picture without throwing any individual offensive linemen under the bus. Here is the related quote: http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_19134226 "Anytime you lose three games straight, you're going to lack some confidence," running back LaDainian Tomlinson said. "You're going to start to question yourself a little bit." ------ “They don’t want to be truthful with him,” one prominent player said of the way that the organization has handled Sanchez. “They treat him like a baby instead of a man. He goes in a hole when someone tells him the truth.” I couldn't find anything for this one. It was interesting that this one was mentioned as a "prominent player" rather than a Jets source. I'm assuming it was Jenkins or someone not with the team in 2011, but I found no match. I didn't get to looking for the rest of the quotes below, but if anyone wants to have fun, take them into google and set a custom date range going back to 2008 up until last week and pick out a small "unlikely" phrase within the quote. “We have to bring in another quarterback that will make him work at practice,” said one player. “He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched.” --- “We already have his coach — Tom Moore,” one well-respected player said. “Plus, he’s a field general and will get everyone lined up. He will get his playmakers the ball. We can win a Super Bowl with Peyton.” --- “How can we when he’s not improving at all?” one of Sanchez’s teammates said. “He thinks he is, but he’s not. He has shown us what he’s capable of.” --- “Everybody got down on the quarterback,” a Jets source said. “But they weren’t looking at the situations we were putting him in. I don’t think he’s as bad as people are making him out to be. When the ---- started snowballing and he lost confidence, he never recovered. Then, you saw him making one stupid throw and one stupid mistake after another.” --- “So many games, he looked defeated before he ever took the field,” a team source said. “He didn’t have much confidence in what he was about to go do. You could tell throughout the week in practice. He never felt comfortable with some of the things we were doing. It was too much for him.” --- “They don’t want to be truthful with him,” one prominent player said of the way that the organization has handled Sanchez. “They treat him like a baby instead of a man. He goes in a hole when someone tells him the truth.” --- “So that should tell you everything,” the source said. “He just doesn’t have the mental toughness to be great... especially in New York.” --- “They see the organization babying him,” said a Jets source. “They see him with a sense of entitlement. He’s been given all this and hasn’t done anything. They call him ‘San-chise.’ They make him the face of the organization. They gave him the captain tag. He’s not a captain. He should have never been a captain.” --- “I don’t think that he’ll come here,” a member of the Jets organization said. “We have to change the perception of our organization. We’re not the organization that players said they wanted to play for a year or two ago. We’re starting to come across a little flaky. We talk the talk. We don’t back it up. We’re out of control. There’s no discipline. It’s a mess right now.” ---[/I]
misleading thread title, but I like the legwork you did *ETA you changed the thread title on me, but still appreciate the detective work. I love a good conspiracy theory
I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. the suspected LT comment reads very complimentary of Sanchez as you would expect from him.
“Come on. That’s a no-brainer,” a Jets source said. “If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.” The anonymous source was obviously Archie Manning....duh!!!
If it is Derrick Mason and LT good for them. They have every right to speak their minds after all they've done it this league. Opposed to some 3rd string nobody.
Looks like you have the same kind of "free time" http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=70012
I don't think that quote is that negative regarding Sanchez. It isn't really throwing him under the bus to say Manning would be an upgrade.
Definitely agree on LT, as that's who I thought of immediately after reading the initial article. Any shot your Mason reference is actually Holmes?
