Do we need to supplement Sparano w/ a "new" RB?

    I think they invision McKnight taking over the LT role next year. I can see him being the one who runs the wildcat. God knows we'll be seeing a lot more of that!

    How is Ray Rice too expensive but Manning a possibility? I think both will fall out of our range unless we want to handicap ourselves to one FA pickup only.

    Kerley has actually been running the wildcat/seminole/horned frog. McKnight has been back there I believe on some plays but it is Kerley taking the snaps from center.

    How about Santonio Holmes to Chicago for Matt Forte?

    Solves problems for both teams. They've got a burner in Johnny Knox to stretch the field for Santonio and they don't want to pay Forte a lot. We could throw McKnight in on the deal to make it go.

    I think Sparano and Greene/McKnight are a good mix

    If we could upgrade from Green, why would we not do it? There's no way SG right now is a top-ten back in anybody's rankings, anywhere.

    I love the guy's running style and he's really improved as a receiver, but he's not elite by any stretch.

    He's a good complementary back in a run-heavy offense. Like an improved version of Lamont Jordan. Once he becomes the feature back he's unreliable because he gets banged up and with that rep people take shots at him, which is like a vicious cycle. He's also not a good enough receiver to be a mainstay. He handcuffs the Jets when he is in the backfield on play-action because he's not a reliable outlet receiver.

    You answered your own question. Rice is too expensive because all the money should go to Mr. Manning.

    The off-season is simple now:

    1. Sign Manning;
    2. Draft a RT;
    3. Draft 2 safeties;
    4. Draft a pass rusher;
    5. Draft another pass catching TE;
    6. Prepare for 15-1 and a SB.

    I agree, Greene is too soft, another power back with speed & a reputation for not fumbling the ball, especially in crucial moments & he's a very good receiver out of the backfield... what better friend can a QB ask for.

    I'm actually more worried about pass-blocking from the RBs we have. LT is a really good pass blocker. Greene is okay. McKnight is awful (which is why he didn't get on the field that much).

    So we have to hit 5 capable starters in one draft in their rookie year? I'm not sure that has ever been done in the NFL...

    The two things that also worry me is the franchise is set back so much not knowing if Manning can throw and not know how weather will affect his play/injury. He got to play 8 games in a dome, one in Hou, one in Ten, one in Jax. Reports were Manning was struggling to throw but the second the report leaked that Colts were taking Luck, all of sudden Manning was showing zip on throws?

    To take this back to the question, I think we can get by with Greene/McKnight/Concrete and whatever we have in Powell. It would be nice to fix OL, OLB, S, WR before we go to RB. I see RB as a luxury at this point unless Greene/McKnight injuries from the season are more severe than we know

    Greene and McKnight will be fine

    Thankfully, we'll never again have to see LaDamianian in a one back set with a "superSchittyplaycall" sending him right into the line between the tackles.

    Green is fine if we can ever make a hole for him... we need to start using Mcknight like he should be used and get the ball to him in space..he is one of te most explosive guys on our team.. powell also deserves to get a chance... we need to fix the oline the rbs are fine.

    with the offense headed towards ground and pound again.. i really think we could use an upgrade at rb if there's one during the draft. i don't really follow college football so i don't know our options. but i know that greene is not an elite back and i don't want just a "serviceable" rb group.
