Haley was Passing game coordinator / receiver coach from 2004-06
Sparano was TE coach 2003-04, OL Coach 2005-07 and Asst. HC 2006-07

They were actually PGC and RGC for '05 and '06 and Sparano was calling plays in '06.

It was his fault Henne never turned into the player we expected. At that is probably the biggest thing I hold against him. They turned Henne into a robot. Basically what is happening to Sanchez, they did to Henne with the constant checkdowns, staring down recievers, never going deep. I know it was also partly Dan hennings fault as well, but Sparano wanted that type of ball control offense. No mistakes and if you have to punt then you punt. They really messed him up.

When we switched offensive coordinators, and Sparano gave him permission to open things up a bit more, Henne was a completely different quarterback. So I really am not sure how much at fault Sparano was, but I know he didn't help in Henne's development.

    Dude....

Sparano had no control in Miami and was saddled with the Jets FREAKING BALL BOY from 3 years ago in Brian Dabol....

You had an OC that was literally WASHING BALLS for his OC experience. ZERO experience at all...

Sparano was highly regarded by Parcells enough to run an entire Team, now the Jets will hire him to run just the offense.... Something tells me Sparano knows his football.

    Come on boy.

I like this hiring if for no reason than his name sounds like Tony Soprano and he wears ridiculous sunglasses.

edit: not so keen on bringing in Haley as well - that is an awful lot of senior egos for one team to handle

so was Al Groh, Parcells hasn't exactly done a good job picking HC's, the one successful one walked out on him.

I agree with what others said in this thread. Though I'm not thrilled about Sparano, Tannenbaum will likely be fired if he messes this up.

So if Rex and him are convinced, then I guess I'll be too.

Head coach is a different animal.

IMO, A Head Coach should be a FOOTBALL Whiz....... And then he needs to be an all around Manager / Delegator / Psychologist / Talent evaluator / Media expert on and on....

I'd say that the fact that Parcells picked Sparano to be a HC shows that if nothing else, this guy is a FOOTBALL guy!!!!! Hey same with Groh, the guy was all about FOOTBALL, so, he wasn't cut out for ALL else involved in being a HEAD COACH and in New York. But, I'm happy with Parcells pointing out guys who know the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then how New Orleans wanted him for their OC......

I'm totally happy with Sparano as the New Offensive Coordinator....

If he were the new HC, I'd be more than pissed. And if the Jets hired a Ball Washer like Brian Dabol as OC with little to no experience, I'd be pissed...

Sparano has the experience of seeing it from all angles now...

    I LIKE IT!

where is the OC success for Tony?

Fun fact: did you know that Tony Sparano has NEVER been part of a playoff win? not as an ass't or HC.
