Schitty was given the task of building up Sanchez into a franchise QB and failed miserably.

Cimini brought up a good point that with Sporano brought in as OC, and him being primarily a run and TE guy (note the fact that he was a TE coach excites me incredibly, since everyone KNOWS we gotta involve our TEs more, and execute Mulligan) but that Sporano wasnt much of a QB guy.

So that said who are some solid options to bring in to work with Sanchez ?

    Per Cimini

Keep your finger crossed. Haley might decide to tag along.

We could see a major offensive line revamp. I'm guessing a bigger TE somehow also. The Cowboys had Witten when Sparano was there and he brought Fasano, who is also a big guy, over with him when he went to the Fins.

If Jets can find their version of Witten (with Fassano tagging along) then Jets should use their version of double TE set prominently. (For different reasons than Patriots uses them.) Power running, with heavy dose of play action passes to WRs and TEs - I can't be complaining about that. Really, no.

If the mob bought a team...it'd have to be the Jets.

That would quiet that locker room right the fuck down.

Haley's forte is the WRs. I don't know how much he knows about the QB position and would he be better than eg an ex-QB like Matt Cavanaugh.

I've been saying that for months. I want a Witten, a Gronkowski, a Heath Miller. I want an every down tight end, with Keller playing the role of Mulligan, except more of a passing threat. It will give us a lot more options for play action, which is what we should be focusing on.

The red zone offense will take a hit without Plaxico, assuming he's gone. A tight end could also help in that role. I also expect more Wildcat. I wouldn't be shocked if they drafted yet another runningback, either.

And as for the original topic, Paul Hackett is out there...

Cumberland and Keller looked like a pretty nice combo before the injury.

I was thinking the same thing, Cumberland has shown some promise. It would be nice if one of them could be that Dallas Clark type and find a big bodied blocking TE to compliment him.

Cumberland was a receiver in college, I want a big blocker who can also catch the ball. Brandon Pettigrew would be perfect.

When we go 2 tight ends, we go with Mulligan. How useless is that? He's actually a decent run blocker, but he's pretty useless as a receiver or as a pass blocker. If we got a big tight end who could play every down and Keller could play Mulligan's snaps, and probably more, that would be great. On play actions, that would be awesome.

These tight ends don't grow on trees, but they're out there somewhere. They don't have to be at the level of Witten, Gronkowski, Heath Miller, Pettigrew, etc, right now, but I'd love to get a better all-around tight end for our 2 tight end sets. That would help Sanchez a lot.

I like Cumberland, and I like Baker. They can fight it out to be the 3rd tight end. Hell, Tanny's kept 4 tight ends before, he could do it again if he thinks both are worth continuing to develop to eventually replace Keller.

So why is Sparano the right guy for this job? He has never been a coordinator and only called plays for 1 year. Isn't there somebody, anybody out there with a better record than that?

During his tenure, Dolphins were very respectable in running game. Since Callahan bolted from the team, it is only reasonable to find a replacement who is actually good at training the OL and getting the production out of the ground game. Wouldn't you agree?

I assume Tom Moore will be back unless he takes another OC job somewhere..he could be a full time Sanchez tutor.

You still need somebody who can come in with a playbook to run an entire offense and not just a part of it. I guess it will depend on who all of the assistants are.
