If you was such a great player and a great coach, why arent you doing either one of them professionally? I rest my case.
Okay, your case is rested and I am prepared to enter my Judgment. My Judgment is that if you don't know who Henry Ellard is and what a superb player he was - then you really need to do your homework and learn your NFL history before making foolish posts that only demonstrate that you don't know your history. CASE DISMISSED. :breakdance:
Braylon was the #3 overall pick in the draft when he came into the league. He's an extremely gifted athlete and had a season with far better production than he ever had here under Ellard. The guy ran into a drop issue and Ellard helped him fix it. He still never got the best out of Braylon. I tend to think Ellard is far more to blame for the Holmes issues than you do, but I could certainly be wrong, as could you. I used Smith as an example to counter the Kerley argument mainly because of his tremendous athleticism. Smith was much more of a project as Kerley was actually a receiver in college. I agree he was probably being pulled in too many directions, but the bottom line is that he was never developed. You all make good arguments, and maybe I am wrong in wanting him gone. I think the biggest reason I want him gone is that I would prefer to start with a fresh slate on offense at this point. I don't want any bad old ideas or habits to linger on.
Well, I can understand your point. I think many of us want a fresh start on offense. The thing with that is, a WR teaches guys how to run the routes, disguise what they are doing, how to beat press coverage. He has nothing to do with the cluster fuck design we are running right now. From watching his career, I have no doubt if you asked Ellard what he though of the 5 curl route he would at least give you a stern look if not more . As for Smith, you can't make chicked soup out of chicken shit. Brad is not ever going to be a top flight receiver in this league. He does not have the skills for it. Its like Blaming a QB coach becasue he did not become a starting caliber QB. No ammount of coaching is going to over come physical limitations. Smith has good straight line speed and power, but is not the quick twitch type of guy that we were trying to make him into. Nor is he big and powerful enough to dominate on the outside. It was never in the cards for him.
1) I'm sorry for being born in the late 80ies. I didn't know you had to be born at least in the early 80ies to be allowed on a football message board. 2) As bad as Schottenheimer may be (not as much as this board makes him out to be) I don't think he is a carrier of the "football stupidity" disease... you shouldn't be fired from a job just because you coached with him. 3) No one gives a fuck so go run your circles on a highway (blindfolded possibly).
Sandusky? I'd prefer that a new OC choose his own staff. He would know who best knows the ins and outs of the system.
1) good point and I agree with you. I made the same observation as him, but not in the asshole manner. 2) Totally agree 3) Did you give your user name and pw to MrE? Just because this guy needed to act like a childish jiz is no reason for a decent guy like yourself to head down the same road.
I would think IF we get a new OC the Jets would give him the option of either retaining positional coaches or letting them go. Or at least they'd hear his opinion...
What the [BEEP!!!!?!?!?!?!?!] Yeah, I am one of the most staunch Schottenheimer hater, but I never knew Schottenheimer carried an epidemic. Don't you think you could have said exactly that after Belichick trashed the Browns?
so just because you are older in age makes you more of a fan? hmmm I think not. I became a jets fan in 2001, and am very knowledgeable from that point foward. My judgement is that if you dont know who the jets starting center in 1969 was, then you really need to do your homework and learn your NFL History.
He is a young poster and is from Italy. Us posters who watched football in the 1980s should help educate these younger dudes. Maybe I should start NFL history lesson threads in the offseason or something.
Kenny, pay attention and try to learn something instead of acting a dummy. This has nothing to do with "being older in age" - its about knowing more about football. Its also not about who is "more of a fan". The simple fact is that I happen to know a great deal more about the Jets and the history of the Jets and the AFC and NFL than you do. Henry Ellard was a great athlete and one of the greatest WRs in NFL history. The fact that you didn't know this is okay, but the fact that I do know it means that I have a higher football IQ than you do. That is all it means. But you need to learn about Henry Ellard and the great players before your time if you wish to improve your football knowledge and your understanding of the game and how it has changed dramatically. Thats great Kenny. Pick up some good books about the history of the NFL and read them and learn about how wonderful this game has been for a long time. I would recommend you try "Going Long" which is a great book about the history of the AFL. http://www.amazon.com/Going-Long-Renegade-American-Football/dp/0071441549/ref=pd_sim_b_1 John Schmitt from Hofstra. He lost his SB ring while surfing in Hawaii in 1971 and it was just recently returned to him after 40 years - great story. You can read about it here: http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/...ound-40-years-after-lost-in-ocean-off-waikiki Any other questions Kenny?
I suppose people on these boards don't understand that the Jets have a fan base born after the late 70's. Personally, I don't know much about football if the person was in his prime during the mid 90's which is when I was born. I would love to see a NFL or Jets history thread.
henry ellard was a great receiver back in the day... and he would have, and probably still would run circles around ALL OF US. and outcoach you while he is at it.
He is a great WR coach. I'm not sure why all this Schotty hate is spilling off on other offensive minded coaches for the Jets. They are not the ones that design the gameplan. They just coach up players from a technical stand point. Not a design stand point.
