Some teams are stupid. The Jets hired a guy with no HC experience who was the 1 year DC of the 26th overall defense. Stranger things have happened.
Hugh Jackson would be awesome. Heck make him the co-HC. Hugh makes all Offensive calls and Rex makes all Defensive Calls. Have them both at the press conferences. Mike Westhoff gets the final say on all moves. It takes a village.
Jay gruden has pulled himself from HC jobs. Does that mean schotty is the favorite to get the job now?
everybody frothing over this and suddenly everybody thinking hue jackson is God's gift to OCs. Reminds me of the '06 draft when 95% of the yahoos on here were screaming and squealing for the Jets to pass on DBrick and draft the waaaaaaay overhyped matt leinart.
No frothing here for Hue----I don't love him or hate him I am on the fence----I love the ifea of Shotty leaving that is exciting if it happens
Haha, I am admittedly one of them, however that was my first year on TGG and I'd like to think that I've become much more knowledgeable than those neophyte days. That said, it's not the same thing. Not even close. Hue Jackson actually has an NFL track record, a good one. He was the guy Rex wanted here to begin with. He doesn't put up with players' bullshit and provides a strong personality for the offense, which I think will mix well with Rex's D. He's not gonna make miracles happen, but when you put all the facts together, how could you not want him to be the guy that gets a shot.
I don't think he will get the HC job anywhere but what do I know. The only thing that worry's me is the longer this (and other job applications of his) plays out the longer the Jets have to wait until making a decision on the OC and formally interviewing candidates themselves so I hope whichever way it goes the question is answered sooner rather than later.
