THIS. Stop making a big deal that the Giants got a home playoff game before the Jets did in Metlife...It has more to do with the division they're in than it does about the team they have.
Ya know with the way things have been lining up recently ive been asking myself. If its a Pats vs the Cmen in the superbowl (the Pats get a free trip to the AFCCG), who the fuck do I root for ? And im ashamed to admit it, but im strongly leaning towards the Pats. I mean Im 99% certain Rodgers is going to rape the hell out of the Cmen, and hell if the Cmen end up winning that anyway theyd have to (likely) win @ NO which we all know is impossible for a bunch of white Cmen to win in the chocolate city. Although another interesting twist would be Ravens v Cmen rematch, and watching Ray Lewis shit all over that pathetic franchise again then call it a career.
Bingo. It's not like it's still Giants Stadium and we're second class citizens, it's about what happens on the field in a given season. Think anyone will care about this come September when we play again? The good news is the Giants are at Green Bay next, so we finally get to root for a team that won't fuck it up.
Interesting tidbits: Despite playing at Giants Stadium for the first time in 1984 while the Giants began play in 1976 the JETS hosted the first ever playoff game at that Stadium. The Jets were the last NY team to win a playoff game at the old Stadium as well and won the last ever game.
Actually if i remember corectly the Giants played the last game ever there not us. However they got completley manhandled and raped by the panthers giving up the most rushing yardss (i think) in the history of the stadium. So yes we had the last win ever there, but the Giants will forever hold that special place in history for embarassing that stadium in its final game ever
No, junc is right. The Giants did shit the bed in their last game there vs the Panthers (and Matt Moore), but we had the last game and won. The Sunday night win-and-in at home vs the Bengals was the last game there. That was the game which infuriated Francesa to his current state of irrationality. It was about 5 degrees, I was there. Last game in my old seats, nice and hammered for that one. Thanks to Brad Smith it was like a frozen, three-hour farewell party to a stadium we all resented.
I didn't realize we won the last playoff game there, that's surprising to me, considering we only won three there (3-1) in 26 seasons.
good call, we were @ indy week 16 that makes sense now. I just guess my fond memories of the cmen that game come to mind quicker as they warm my heart this post season.
all that mattees is who wins the first superbowl at the new stadium anyway, Nacho better get his ass ready
I can see it coming, Giants beating the Packers this weekend, going to the SB. If that happens, please sell this team.
we were one Ravens upset of Indy away from hosting the title game. That would have been an ever better way to say goodbye to that building but unfortunately Flacco stunk as he usually does in January. The bengal game was as cold a game as I could remember but it was an incredibly fun game.
I managed to get an extra fifth of JD in with all the layers I had on, which made the cold a non-factor. That's up there with the last two home games of 2002 with Chad as the most fun I've ever had at a Jet game.
Last year in the championship game at Pitt I almost felt warm b/c it wasn't nearly as cold as that Cincy game.
I don't see them winning either game. Saturday night I was at a birthday party for a friend who is a long-suffering Lions fan, so I was rooting for them in the moment. But looking at it now, Giants at SF would have been a disaster, I like the way this worked out. Like double-insulation from seeing them luck into another trip to the Super Bowl, no idiot Favre to throw them the game in OT this time. In typical fashion they were lucky to draw the Falcons at home after going 9-7, where we go 11-5 and end up at Indy.
Wow, didn't realize you went to that game. Sometimes if you anticipate too much cold and it doesn't happen you're uncomfortably warm, happened to me the Thanksgiving night game last year.
Part of the reason was that I didn't tailgate in Pitt, spent the afternoon in the casino then the last couple of hours in the hotel before walking over for the game but I didn't feel the cold too much- then again for a chance at the SB I probably could have gone to that game in shorts and not felt it.
CBG, Whether someone joins an hour ago or a million years ago, their opinion should not be judged based on that but based on the content. And I'm just of the opinion that JETS fans like us should NEVER root for the Giants under any circumstances.
