The idiot who gave Shittenheimer a two year extension and gave $50Mm to a loose cannot like Santonio Holmes should be fired it is that simple.

If this was a business and not Woody's hobby or a public company, that is what would happen in the real world.

Accountability Mr. Tannenbaum and you can't throw your good friend Mangini under the bus for these two decisions. Throwing your best friend under the bus showed me all I needed to know about the useless bean counting punk that you are.

I'll give Tanny another season to prove his worth, but there IS something about him that annoys the shit out of me. Maybe it's how nervous he sounds when addressing the media that just makes me feel like everything he says is a lie. Or maybe it's how arrogant he came off on Hard Knocks when this team hadn't won shit.

On Hard knocks he showed how immature he is during the Revis negotiations. He is not a guy that should be running a franchise.

I just wish that Woody would wake up and hire a real football guy or bring in Bill Polian to make the football decisions and let the accountant handle the cap.

Or that he hasn't made a good draft pick since Revis in 2007.

Yes, let's fire everybody every time we don't make an AFC Championship Game. That sounds like a recipe for success. Tanny is the best GM this team has had in a long time. I'm sure you weren't calling him an idiot when he put together a team that went to the AFC Championship game in back-to-back years.

Keller in 08; Greene and Slauson in 09; Wilson, McKnight and Connor in 10; Wilkerson and Kerley in 11 weren't good picks?

No let's fire people when we don't win a Super Bowl in four and a half decades. Don't accept an average team or that is what ownership will give you.

Woody owes all die hard, long suffering Jets fans more than a bean counter running the show. Jets fans should never have been exposed to the abuse this team brought on them by all Giants fans by sucking and not caring this year.

it is also about time that Rex stops saying that we are the best team in the game every year and "I guarantee we are going to win the Super Bowl." Beat a team with over a .500 record first and have the balls to tell management that Shittenheimer is holding the team back. That is what a leader does Rex. He does not just fire up the oppostiion with rediculous statements.

It is old and we are all getting old waiting for another Super Bowl and Jets fans deserve better. A lot better Woody. Go hire a football guy.

John Connor may be the most overrated player in the game. He was a creation of hard knocks and would have been an UDFA but we had to waste a pick on him when there were still 31 players on the board who went on to become starters.

That's a great recipe for success. When the Jets don't win the SB, fire the entire front office and cut all the players. It can't be that hard to win, right. Just hire a football guy, let him hire a great coach, let those two draft great players, including an elite QB, and then win the SB. What is so difficult about all that?? I can't believe no Jets owner thought of this plan before. Here we were, hiring bad GMs and not so great coaches and bringing in inferior players all these years when the blue print for success was staring us in the face. Thanks for breaking the code!! I'm going to sleep well tonight now that I know the SB is on the way once Woody reads your post.

Shittenheimer isn't clever and shouldn't be in your thread title. Take a few hours off to contemplate this on the tree of woe.

he was the guy who traded away a bunch of picks, which is why you have no depth. the lito shepard trade. trading away almost rest of draft two years ago just to grab detroit's spot in 3rd round to pick greene. meanwhile, teams that stockpile picks, like giants, lions, and pats are in playoffs.

you all saw what the o-line talent really looked like when mangold was out. while ozzie newsome brought in mc kenney and geroude to fix ravens problem, tanny sat on his hands and $11 million in cap space.

tanny spent $13 million on only two wrs, let cotchery leave in favor of mason, meanwhile qb getting hammered and running game went downhill.
just like when his buddy bradway overspent on chad, and mckenzie went to the giants cause we didn't have cap money to pay him. like buying a corvette and trying to save money by not buying insurance for it.

Every GM makes some bad moves, but at the end of the day the Jets have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL during the Tannenbaum era. Every team that has won a Super Bowl recently has done so with an elite QB (Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Peyton, Big Ben, Eli to a far lesser extent). For him to put together a team with enough talent to get to back-to-back championship games with Sanchez at QB is extremely impressive IMO. Everyone on this board has supported his aggressive draft style in the past, so I think it's unfair to question now, even though I agree the depth was poor this year. And the Pats, who are the king of stockpiling draft picks, are littered with a talentless defense this year because most of the guys they've drafted, other than Mayo, were better off as backups. Meanwhile, Tannenbaum's trading up got us Revis, Harris, Keller, Sanchez (who we got for far below market value), and Greene, who was a steal in the 3rd round.

Gurode and McKinnie were already in Baltimore by the time Mangold went down, and though Baxter wasn't an acceptable replacement, it wasn't Tannenbaum's fault Turner got hurt. Most of the $13 mil was on Holmes, which was a bad move in retrospect but one most of us liked at the times, and Plax was worth the $3 mil. Cotchery wanted out, he didn't "let" him leave. Giving Hunter that contract and the starting job was a mistake but there was nothing to suggest based on his performance last year that he would regress this badly.

Why Tannenebaum has to go for Bill Polian

The off season continues to get screwed up becasue this moron imparied the team from being able to fire Shottenheimer by giving him a 2 year extension when he did not deserve it and at $3.2MM no less.

The sad part is that the Jets knew this was not the right move because they kept it quiet for 10 months till it leaked. Once Bill Callahan heard about it he refused to sign a contract extension and at the same time that they gave Shottenhemier the extension they denied Callahan the ability to interview for an OC position without giving him a raise.

By not firing Shottenheimer last Monday they have already lost out on the ability of signing a guy like Josh McDaniels ( his signing in New England now lets them hit the ground running again) and now Todd Haley who at least is a guy who has guts and will not take any crap from his players and let them run the show like the current coaching staff did all season.

Tannenbaum is also the guy who gave a questionable personality like Holmes $45MM, when one of the best run organizations in football, the Steelers gave him away because they know he is cancer.

There are many other reasons that the accountant should not be the GM but each day that he is still in that postion this franchise is hurt and Woody has no balls to make the right move and send him home.
