    any leanings regarding totals yet?

Edit: Looks like it's gonna be no big deal, but a bigger fella is right behind it!

Edit x2: That bigger fella might just be rain.

Exactly MS....the good thing about the Tuesday/Wednesday storm for snow lovers is the pattern change it will create. Longer lasting cold spells and more of chance for storms to race up the coast.

This storm should begin at least a 3 week period of potential...only potential.

Jay is the Mark Sanchez of weather predicting. He's likeable, but woefully inconsistent. ( and hes not eating Kate Uptons asshole)

I just checked the long range accuweather for our area out here and it looks like at best, freezing rain which is a complete PITA. I guess the Ariens will have to sit a bit longer.

lmao....good one Jon. Having a horrible year. In my defense...nah..no defense. Storms show up on models then disappear. Its that type of year. The next chance is around the 15th of January...but that just went bye bye on one of the models. Expect the rest to follow.

Yeah...the area could use a break I guess. Hey...heating costs this year have to be almost half compared to last year. Just got done playing a little b'ball with my boys. Sweating my ass off.

I'm tempted to break out the fishing gear and head out to Belmar, NJ for some saltwater action.

I fail to see the correlation between your intelligence and the weather patterns.

It is some odd weather though. Up in New England we had that one Halloween snow, and a couple of faint dustings. I think it was 50 today. Crazy stuff - not that you will find me complaining. I would much prefer sitting someplace warm and cozy...

Ha. Theres a distinction to be made. Global warming do to an ever changing universe or global warming because Al Gore says my girldfriend, Angela from HOward Beach used to much hair spray in 1986. Big difference

So which is it that's made 2011, the "year without winter"? No volcanoes, perhaps La Nina. Greenhouse gasses certainly could be a factor here so perhaps our old pal Al might have gotten one right for a change. Planetary temps are rising as are sea levels. You'd have a different pov if you lived in say, Guam or American Samoa or Wake Island.

    Year without winter?

    Ask Kentucky, Georgia, Illinois...about snow.

It's just luck the way the cards have fallen. But whenever it's this warm cold fronts always move in. There will be snow.

The pattern all the geeks are talking about is the time frame between the 15th of January to feb 1. Basically they are stating that the change in pattern is during that time frame..and if it doesnt happen then...we might be looking at one of the least amount of snow to fall in the metro area in quite some time.

    Here is the time frame
This Wednesday and Thursday...heavy rain for the metro area. The only area with a chance of measurable snow is northern New England.

Storms to follow: Around the 15th. Interior snows.
Around the 20th...chances increase big time for 2 to possible 3 snow storms for the mid atlantic...ending around the last day of January.

Fly in the ointment would be warmer temps..and storms taking a more inland track than just off the coast.

Thats where we are boys...I will keep updating until something happens. The next storm on Wednesday could produce flooding in the metro area...followed by cold temps and snow showers Thurs nite, Friday.

Thats what happens when storms go to our west..or their east. A storm to produce heavy snows or snow throughout the duration has to be to your east. Counter clock wise rotation. To your west and it brings up warmer air from the south....to your east and it sucks down cold air from then north. Thats why you always see major snows for the east coast with the big L just over the atlantic.

and now a more easterly track for the storm on Wednesday night...meaning a start of snow to sleet to rain...how fitting. So at least we will see snow fall from the sky.

    For northern NJ:

Wednesday Night: Rain, snow, and sleet likely, becoming all rain after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. East wind between 6 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Rain, mainly before noon. High near 41. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain showers before 9pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

So... wunderground says we are getting 2-4 inches of snow and it's not starting til tomorrow afteroon. Weather.com says 4-6 and starting at 6am. Accuweather says 5.3" and starting at 9am.

If they don't really know... wtf is the point of forecasting weather!?
