In fairness, when the QB throws for 450 yards a game (exaggerating, I know), you probably need to abandon the run to an extent, thus making it WAY more effective.

Sounds like the jets are going for a new offensive philosophy with these candidates. Maybe we run the single wing, wild cat, or the winged t next season.

Yeah lets switch to a passing team. Look how that faired for the Lions tonight, completely blown out.

If you have a run game you can keep the game close and take advantage at the end. Thats how we pulled these upsets recently.

Hailey going back to the Cards.

    Per Jason La Canfora:
Sounds like Todd Haley will be back on the Cards offensive coaching staff by next week. Makes sense for all parties #insideslant

That reasoning is retarded. They have an elite passing game. I could only wish this team had that. If we had the Offense they have and the D we have wed be a big time contender.

Yes but the key words are ground and pound, saints running game is effective because you always have to stay true to brees.

And if the Lions won you'd say "look how that worked for the Saints". When two top tier passing offenses go head to head it is only going to work out in the end for one of them.

NO. He is awful, I have read a Jags board that immensely dislikes his playcalling. He is conservative, also refuses to take shots down the field and is predictable. He is basically Schottenheimer II.

I don't know if that was on Gene Smith, JDR or him but the Jags failure to produce anything at WR is alarming.

Please don't hire him, its going to be a mistake. Maybe as a positional coach, okay. But not OC. The Jags offense has been laughable outside of MJD.

The key phrase he used was “running is obsolete”. Thats what I was countering.

Yes you always have to stay true to Brees, but that doesnt discount the fact that they have the two best guards in the NFL and a probowl LT. Did you see Pierre Thomas break about 20 tackles? That sure as hell aint on Brees. And btw, he’s their 3rd RB. They have very good running backs, all of which are better than ours, and a very good offense line that plays the run as well as they do pass.

Dont discredit their run game just because they have Brees.

Sadly, the stooges would've done a better Job than the clowns we have currently.

Also, the Lions have NO DEFENSE AT ALL!

OMG! Well THIS is going to fall on Rex then since he's fucking married to the Ground-And-Pound philosophy to a fault, he's going to hire Schitty's TWIN from Jacksonville to give us Jets fans the illusion that they made a worthwhile upgrade in OC when they really made a lateral move toward the same old horseshit.

I would take a steaming pile of dog shit over Shottenheimer at this point and throw a 7-day party to celebrate his departure.

There isn't a single fan base that likes their OC outside of NE, NO and GB.

I'm fine with this guy because it's clear he's committed to running the football. He definitely wouldn't be my first choice, though.

This would be an absolutely terrible move. The NFL is moving towards a passing league more than ever, we need to focus on coordinators who know how to push the ball down field with a strong aerial attack. If we go after this guy I'll be convinced that we're headed the wrong direction.

    2007:
    Stats:
    7th in YPG
    6th in Pts/G
    7.5 Avg yards per pass
    44 20+ yard pass plays
    8 40+ yard pass plays
    17th in passing yards
    2nd in rushing yards

    2008:
    Stats:
    20th in YPG
    24th in Pts/G
    6.7 Avg yards per pass
    42 20+ yard pass plays
    1 40+ yard pass plays
    15th in passing yards
    18th in rushing yards

    2009:
    Stats:
    18th in YPG
    24th in Pts/G
    6.9 Avg yards per pass
    44 20+ yard pass plays
    6 40+ yard pass plays
    19th in passing yards
    10th in rushing yards

    2010:
    Stats:
    15th in YPG
    18th in Pts/G
    7.2 Avg yards per pass
    47 20+ yard pass plays
    6 40+ yard pass plays
    27th in passing yards
    3rd in rushing yards

    2011:
    Stats:
    32nd in YPG
    28th in Pts/G
    5.4 Avg yards per pass
    30 20+ yard pass plays
    4 40+ yard pass plays
    32nd in passing yards
    12th in rushing yards

He had some good rushing attacks with f'n MJD, but never a passing attack rated above 15th in the league in yards. FUCK this guy.
