I for one will hope that he is successful. I have no problem with him gone and I think the jets is in need of some clearance, but I think he is a really standup honest football guy that makes sense I the interviews. Never heard him throwing Sanchez under the bus despite him really costing him the job ( well you could say it is the other way around but at least from Shotty's perspective he must feel somewhat frustrated at times).
There doesn't seem to be a very though competition, but who know. Thread is hypothetical to gauge wether the hatred of schotty is gone as soon as he is not a jet. I have never really understood the harsh criticism of his football skills. Surely he and his dad must have picked up on the 10 yrd markers importance over their coaching years?
Fixed the thread title. I could see how it could be confusing if you were just checking the board from your phone or something and saw the headline. Yeah, sure. I wouldn't care that much, but I wouldn't root against him, unless, of course, it helped the Jets. I want him out whether he gets the job or not, but I won't root against him succeeding in future gigs with teams I don't hate. I wouldn't want him to be too successful though, especially if Rex flames out. Then it could become the "How did we let this guy go?" scenario that nobody wants.
But if he is successful, isn't that an indication that something at the jets isn't right and that scenario would be justified. I sure hope it is schotty, but if he goes I am quite convinced that a lot of people will be disappointed with the lack of effect. A bit like the get a big cent to the Knicks, and now when one is there it is all about a pg. There is no such thing as one player away from a championship.
i wish him success wherever he goes. hell, i wished him success here but it's just not happening. but it's not like i would actively root for the jags or anything.
Not Making excues for Schotty, and as far as the Jets are concerned, it time to part ways..... Yet think about it, who that matters other then Jets fans, have ever said Schotty sucks? Seems to me many of his players, peers and fellow coaches believe in him and his system... It has not worked out for the Jets and he surely has had his ups and downs in his stay, but he was no Hackett. Also, all the other coaches who have had steller carreers as OC's & DC's that stepped in the HC ranks and failed , maybe Schotty suprises the shit out of everyone an actually becomes a very good head coach....
I hope he has a long and prosperous career at Jacksonville, leading their offense and defense to respectable mediocrity for years to come.
