    That's pretty funny.

Mediocre 8-8 teams are never "two plays" away from the playoffs.

Sure. It's literally true, but the team was bad enough to find other ways to screw up.

I agree if they have captains the players should pick but do they need to ahve official captains? the leaders are known throughout the locker room, they don't need a title or a stupid "C" patch.

    Wrong.

In todays NFL they are.. And last years team was Two "Lucky" plays Into the playoffs...

Not saying this team is in the elite group...

But, the difference between last years team and this years team is minimal.. And I wasn't one of the people bowing down to last years team or predicting over 10 wins this year.

The adjustments they need to make next year to be a playoff team IMO aren't that great - Cut penalties, uptick QB play - Protection and Rex has to get his defense tighter....

IMO, the penalites this year alone were so bad that you fix that and your've got a chance. And that should be one of the easier things to fix, the jets are usually great in that area.

BUT, I'll say this... THE SKY IS FALLING mentality of the media and rivals IMO is going to work in their favor. BRING IT ON!!!!! LOVIN' IT!!!!!!

Because if they really really believed what I'm saying they might not be as dead serious about making bigger moves... Now, with percieved pie on Rex's face, he's not going to stop working his ass off and IMO we're going to see a lot of offseason work.

I'll personally go into next year with the same exact expectations as I had going into this year. Hopefully win 10 games and make small improvements across the board.

I think Jenk is getting at the fact that Mark isn't yelling at these guys behind the scenes either. Sanchez really doesn't come across as the type who would do that.

Just to give you an example, what would Rivers do if one of his WR's through a hissy fit about not getting the ball? Think he would chew them out in game right then and there? He surely would in the locker room. I bring up rivers because he doesn't even have a superbowl to back him up. Other guys like Manning or Brady would of course do the same. Hell they might even freeze the WR out.

What Holmes was pulling was total bullshit. If Mark didn't call him out, it's a shame that Tomlinson didn't. If Thomas Jones were here, he probably would have punched Holmes in the face.

Jenkins may not know what is going on behind the scenes, but he was with the team long enough to get a read on what type of guy Sanchez is. And he confirms my suspicion that Sanchez does everything he can to avoid ruffling feathers. He's the guy at school that wants to be liked by everyone. That's what a crowd pleaser is.

And it's definitely not the leader type, unless you're using the term 'leader' to describe a false-fronted politician.

Not sure that can be taught, because it's a personality trait, not a skill to be learned.

THis speculation about whether Sanchez is saying anything behind closed doors misses the point that if he was, it certainly wasn't effective.

Jenkins is jealous that mark has already made a bigger impression and has a greater legacy in nyc than he ever will

The lockerroom is a zoo and we had no TEAM this year. What the hell are you talking about "keeping it in house". He dont lead. He dont do shit. He needs to step up and take control of the team.

"Grow a pair"?!?! Say what you want about Sanchez, but guts is NOT the problem with him. He has gotten a beating this season that even Steve McNair would shudder at, and he picked his ass up and kept going.

What annoys me is that Jenks ASSUMES that Mark isn't yelling just like you're ASSUMING that he's not the type who would do that.

    Based on what?

And how do you or Fatass Jenkins know whether Mark has or hasn't been yelling at Holmes to get his shit together in the locker room? PERHAPS HOLMES DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT MARK SAYS WHETHER HE GETS YELLED AT OR NOT?

Does Jenkins ever consider THAT? Go eat another twinkie, doofus.

(note : I'm telling Jenkins to do that. Not you. lol)

Well, if the bold is the case, then people DON'T think of Sanchez as a leader.

I have never seen it after a play in 3 years.

Other QBs I have seen frequently adjusting people on the sideline sometimes very vocally, but never Sanchez, he usually sits alone staring out at the game.

Replace "people" with HOLMES and you'd be correct.

Holmes is a whiny piece of shit that you try to flush down the toilet but somehow stays afloat and doesn't go away. His contract makes sure of that(nice job, Tanny...not).

Even when things were going good, Holmes did not care for Mark Sanchez.

How can Mark be a leader if his top receiver doesn't even attempt to listen to him and does his own thing?

Holmes lied through his teeth and said everything everyone wanted him to say. In reality, all he wanted was to Cash-in and GET PAID which is why he played the Good Soldier and Teammate for a year. He pulled the wool over a very gullible Tanny and now we're stuck with this malcontent with Big Money.

    I really miss Braylon.

At least Braylon LISTENED and he seemed to Respect Mark when he was here last year....

We need him back in the worst way.

And BTW, all this talk about Mark not being a Leader....What does Nick Mangold say about that? Shonn Greene? Revis? I'd be very curious as to their stance on this whole situation.....

Mark's not an effective leader because he doesn't lead by example. His words hold little weight when he's fumbling snaps and throwing multiple picks. I love the kid, but he needs to get his head on straight and worry about working on his quarterbacking and then trying to rally the troops.

Once Mark can get all of his shit together, I think we'll see this team become more focused behind him and we'll see him emerge as the de facto leader.

I do agree that Holmes doesn't respect Sanchez, and that it had to be a pretty big problem in the last 3-4 games. I'm not sure Holmes and Sanchez will EVER be on the same page again.
