I agree, all good NFL teams have that kind of discipline.

Look what happened to Welker when he shot his mouth off about Footgate.

Getting accurately called out by a rookie could be just the splash of cold water the team needs.

It was ballsy and possibly puts him in a tough spot but that's kinda what "leadership" is.

Do the right thing. Even if it hurts.

No, that's kinda what "stupidity" and "career suicide" is.

You really think that if the Jets cut him, that there would be teams lining up for a 7th round UDFA who blabs everything that is supposed to be in-house to the media?

He was unnecessarily benched for a series in an elimination game where a good opening possession could have set a positive tone for the Patriots...but, hey, he learned a lesson in discipline. That's the important thing, right? :)

I just don't understand how people are so mad about this kid speaking up about the problems in the locker room when you had people saying more stupid shit in the regular season. He didn't bash anyone directly, he just said the culture became selfish. I'm not willing to crucify the guy for that.

If they want to get rid of all these problems they should reel in the players in regards to the media. No more trash talk, no more drama.

Its funny everyone says he is talking about Santonio, etc.

I think he is talking about SANCHEZ.

WHo do you think he studies with, goes to meeting with, etc.

Does Mark play like he cares about winning?

    Think about it.

That's ridiculous to say with absolutely no proof to back up, last time I checked Sanchez called an after practice workout with his receivers to try to get some chemistry(the same meeting Holmes never attended), doesn't seem to me like the actions of someone who "doesn't care about winning".

The attitude of Mark during games looks like someone who "doesn't care about winning". Or maybe you never noticed?

Body language has always been a knock on Sanchez, but plenty of QB's in this league have terrible body language including Eli Manning, you telling me Eli doesn't want to win?

Sanchez's stats stink on ice, there's no way Mark would be a stat guy. He's talking about Holmes, possibly Plax.

One thing we can bet on - McElroy wasn't talking about Eli.

So part of your point suggests that McElroy, for his personal selfish reasons, could serve to benefit by callling out others for being selfish players. Interesting. And yes, I do think one's status on the totem pole makes a difference. Further, this situation needed no additional fire thrown on it. It was already out there for anyone who cared. All McElroys comments (perhaps "self-serving" ones under your premise) did was to further trash the JETS name and feed fodder to the likes of Francessa and the mainstream media.

So Teammates saying Sanchez is the first guy in/last out and him stepping up his game in the postseason says nothing to you?

Where the fuck is your proof besides body language on the sideline?

I think the Pats would sign him, and just tell him "Welcome to New England, but don't pull that crap here. Tom Brady takes care of that stuff."

I didn't say it was only selfish. Sometimes the right thing to do is also good for one's self.

And while I know that LT said something specific about Holmes, and that unnamed players have said the team situation was not good, I don't know that any player was quoted saying what McElroy did.

He didn't trash the Jets. He trashed the selfish players on the team.

He returned the opening punt and then wasnt on the field for the first series? Great idea of benching. You aren't playing the first offensive series, but you will return the punt before our offense touches the field.
