lol that's the whole truth. But if it feeds your fantasy view, so it makes being a fan of a cheating organization who has not won a Superbowl since being caught and has been completely out coached at home in the last 2 playoffs more bearable I can't stop you.
Hes not a terrible head coach. He has turned this team around and made it relevant ever since he came here. Is he a great coach? No. He has yet to take control of the team fully. Too much babying the players. I want him to get in their faces. I'm not a big fan of coaches being buddy buddy with players but that's me.
you know when you really think about it and realize that he saw he had this problem in 09 and then 2 years later he realizes he forgot he had that problem and needs to get back to stopping in on the meetings? you know that is terrible coaching, and a terrible job. wtf is rex doing exactly if he is completely disregarding 1 entire facet of his team? for the first time since he got here i really have to question rex on this one. him talking and blah blah all the time is one thing, thats kind of annoying. this is egregious
Apology accepted. Hahahaha Are you kidding me? Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong but I think it worked something like Belli boii sent out one of his minions to spy on an opposing football teams practice (or in the case of St Louis the entire super bowl warmup) then Belli boii went back to his dungeon and watched the tapes like a zillion times discussing with all coaches and identifying exactly how the defense would line up and execute called plays. When the game began Belli boii had one of his minions watching the defensive playcalls which they would relay to the offense to determine an offensive play capable of beating the d (quick example "hey Belli boii they are blitzing their corner. "Roger that." let's run a fade to the blitzing corner." I think that's about the just of it. According to many sources the cheating, excuse me, the researching and note taking went on as far back as 2000. We will never truly know though bc all notes and films were convieniently destroyed by the NFL. I think that's called an unfair advantage. Anyway, your season is over in two weeks. Enjoy the boring ass ride.
It's nice to write up our own "fantasy worlds". Unfortunately reality can be a much crueler *Cough haven't won anything meaningful since being caught cheating cough* place. You must really be pissed off about last year's playoffs to have the nerve to come to our board to stir up this bull crap. Or perhaps you're just covering up some deep down fear that ole' Tommy and Billy are gonna Choke just like they've done the past 2 years. Jets will bounce back..don't you worry. Locker rooms turn sour all the time in sports..it just isn't as widely reported in many venues. Jets had alot of turnover from last season. Many of the replacements are young talented players who just needed a year to learn consistency. Jets have some holes to fill. But with ample cap space, & a decent amount of draft picks, Rex will have the swagger back in no time.
Yeah. Unfortunately, we've seen this movie before. Coach promises improvement after dismal year. House is cleaned, players moved. Injuries take over. Another failed season. Head Coach is shitcanned. New QB drafted. New HC promises changes. Repeat line 2.
Because you took the time to even attempt a response, I will give the courtesy of responding in kind in the wistful hope that you are even somewhat open minded. First, no one spied on the Rams. That was story was reported in a Newspaper (Boston Herald) then of course repeated as fact all over the country. 2 days later the Paper had to publish a full page retraction when it was PROVEN to be false. Still haters bring it up much like the right wing would have you believe Obama's a Muslim who sacrifices children to Allah. This is simply logistically impossible. Let me try to explain. Back in the day before the wireless helmets. DCs would use hand signals to send in the defenses. Because stealing signals was NOT illegal, all teams would have at least 2 coaches signalling the different calls. One live, one not. The guy filming would show the down and distance from the score board and film all the coaches who were signalling. That was it. There was NO WAY that it would be possible figure out who the live coach was, and THEN figure out what the signals meant. How could that possibly be done in time to affect that game. There is NO possible way any film taken on that Sunday could be of any use that day. btw another complication would be you'd have to match up the offensive play, because just because one defense was called, a certain offensive formation or motion might force a change in the defensive call to another call There is simply no way for it to happen as you describe. Even if it was a division opponent that you would play again. a few weeks later. Even if you managed to break down which was the live coach, then managed to figure out what the hand signals meant and could match them to the defense that was called ;You ran the risk that the next time you played them they would simply change the coach or change a few of the signals. It happened all the time the mundane truth was the films were stored and broken down in the off season in an attempt to get a better idea of how the DC called his game. To get a feel for his tendencies Again its important to remember that if instead of using a camera the Pats used a staff member with binoculars and clip board and he charted the same info the camera gave, it would have been perfectly legal. It went back a lot farther than that. Jimmy Johnson and Bill Walsh are just 2 former HC's who publicly stated they had done the same thing for many years. And believe me, I regret the tapes being burned as much as you do. That did the Pats more harm than good. Just a further mishandling of the incident by an insecure new commissioner whose loyalties are firmly connected to the Jets organization. How is that an advantage in a game when you get no immediate information. And I don't know how long the Pats playoff season will last. I just know it will be 2 weeks longer than the Jets, and even if in end in a disastrous lose a week from Saturday (and I wouldn't count on it) It still won't compare to this royal clusterf##ck laughingstock that has become the Jets....but no question it will HURT. BTW-the Pats aren't entirely blameless here, but other had dome much worse and had much less happen - for example in previous years the Niners, Cowboys and Broncos ALL had lost draft picks and been fined for fudging the salary cap in order to be able to sign more players. In ever case they actually DID create a competitive advantage, but you never hear about it.
I only have a problem with this. This same commisioner who decided to a coin flip wasn't a good idea to decide who opens a new stadium, but then flips the coin without the Jets there even though it was our idea.. I don't think he has shown favoritsm to the Jets. The same Jets who played sunday night/thursday night a thing rarely if ever done before in the nfl. Also the only playoff team from last year to play 3 straight road games. I don't think he favors the jets unless I am missing examples that state otherwise.
If anything, Roger Goodell has overcompensated in his undying devotion to all things Jets. Love hurts.
Rex’s main problem is he got success too quickly, rarely does a coach have as much success in his first two seasons and it seems to have inflated his already huge ego, he had a book out before his third season! But his benefits outweigh his faults, he turned around this franchise & made an optimist out of not only me but most of the fan base & if we made the playoffs even with this dysfunctional time I wouldn’t have been surprised if we won one or two games... That said he needs the humble pie and missing the playoffs will motivate him even more...it’s a good thing McElroy spoke out we need more of that so that Rex can become a better head coach, he is a fighter and will not back down ...and most importantly it will make us a better team next season...
I gotta say: Eric Mangini did a better job of turning the Jets around in his first season than Rex Ryan did and that includes the run to the AFC Champioship Game. Mangini took 4-12 with total disarray on the offensive side and turned it into 10-6, albeit a schedule enhanced 10-6, while installing a new front on defense. Rex took a 9-7 team to 9-7, under the weight of the decision to go with a rookie QB, but still the Jets improvement from 2008 to 2009 was marginal. The defense stepped it up a lot since Rex spent most of his time on that side of the ball but the offense was basically a continuation of the bad Brett Favre hurt offense that 2008 ended with. That the Jets got lucky and squeaked into the playoffs and then got on a roll is why we see Rex as immediately more successful than Mangini. The second season Mangini took it in the neck, partly due to his lack of focus and partly due to the offensive line developing holes and Chad getting run out of town in the process. If Wayne Hunter had been the RT in Rex's second season we probably would see him as Eric Mangini part II.
Mangini's pass defense was amongst the very worst in the league in 2008, Rex's was the very best in 2009. Rex didn't have Brett Favre, he had a rookie Sanchez and Kellen Clemens. Maybe the record in both seasons was 9-7, but the work that the team needed to maintain that record was significant and I have no faith whatsoever that Mangini would have been able to achieve it, or anything close.
Rex's only fault in this mess, is leaving the offense to Schotty, and clearly it hasn't worked. Schotty caused all of the locker room turmoil by designing and implementing horrible plays that go against our identity as a team, not to mention we utilize Holmes in less than 10% our of our plays, yet we payed him 50 million. Yes, Rex should be more involved on offense, but yes it's completely Schotty's fault and he's the one who has lost control and turned everyone against him. Get rid of Schotty and fix the oline. Everything else will fall into place.
Yeah, I couldn't disagree more with this. He vastly improved the defense with the SAME PERSONNEL and keep in mind the offense was handcuffed by a rookie QB who was clearly not ready to play. The offense also started the year with Jerricho Cotchery and Chansi Stuckey as the starting WR. If Mangini had been head coach with Sanchez that first year, they are a 5-11 team at best.
I gotta come back at you on that one. Rex Ryan took a bunch of 3-4 players, including several really good ones, and got them to play at the top of their game. Mangini took the wreckage of Herm's 4-3 Cover 2 and moved them up about 10 slots on defense while he was losing the heart of the defense at MLB who was not suited for the 3-4, while he was reclaiming Bryan Thomas and making him a plus player, with freaking DeWayne Robertson at NT. All defensive efforts are not accomplished on the same ground. Rex had it EASY when he came over. He already had almost all the players he wanted for his system in place. Mangini had a bunch of misfit toys ill-suited for the 3-4 at the point that Mike Tannenbaum made the brilliant decision to bring in a 3-4 coach.
