A big statement needs to made by the organization. I think this is the only route to go. Show the team that if you act like this you are gone. This will bring back credibility to the coach and management. Someone needs to kick that champagne bottle right up Holmes's ass now!

They've already done their statement making.
    Kerry Rhodes
    Derrick Mason
    Braylon Edwards
    Shake Weight

It doesn't matter there will always be someone else.....

There hasn't been a shit storm like this here in a long time....this will affect our ability to sign free agents. It's puts a bad light on the entire organization letting the prisoners run the prison...you have to set a precedent here that the team is in control.

We are going into 2012 with Kerely, Turner and ????

Another year for Sanchez to fail.

Jets have so much talent that we can cut a top 5 player on the team with no problem. Maybe we can get derrick mason back to replace him. Agree w above. .... It will be another excuse for the sanchez lovers.

A statement would be Rex telling everyone he is gonna STFU for the next season.

A statement about cutting your best receiver would help a mediocre Sanchez how?

Your main forum has gone insane since you lost to us...

This is what the Steelers felt like when their locker room was beginning to get weighed down by Roethlisberger and Holmes. They ditched Holmes so they could concentrate on the locker room and maintain the franchise identity. They couldn't even think seriously about letting the best QB in franchise history go and so they cut bait on the other problem.

The Jets have a lot of little problems festering in the locker room right now and they have a big problem in Rex and his approach to the issues. They really should cut Holmes so they can concentrate on getting everything back together again. More likely they'll try hard to trade him in a weak market approaching the draft.

Those were easy decisions. This would be a big statement based on the cap hit and the fact that the guy is a super bowl mvp. I agree with the original poster. We should do it. It will immediately give the good guys/team players on this team a lift and regain their respect for the coaches and the organization. Sometimes there is addition by subtraction and even though it hurst in the wallet I think it will help overall.

A better idea would be to cut the asshole who gave him the contract he has. Then we won't be stuck with an 8 million dollar cap hit.

I have no idea how you guys can't see this needs to be done. Send this cancer to Boston. Addition by subtraction is exactly right. Guys like this...Moss, Owens etc are cancers.....you want that next year?

A top 5 player on the team?

He was 62nd in the league in receiving yards this year which makes him a borderline 2nd/3rd receiver in this league. Add in the fact that he's a huge cancer and it's a no brainer that he needs to go. The only reason he isn't already cut is that there are ridiculous cap ramifications.

I'm SURE we could easily replace his production. Hell, re-sign Braylon and Plax and Kerley could give us better production.

Yes because Holmes is in his prime and having Brady throw him the ball would make the pats tougher to beat.

Braylon, with all his faults, balled out on the field. Deep threat. If his his knee is good go get him....cheap!

A reciever is only as good as his QB. If you're not getting the ball as much your numbers will look weak. Btw I'm not saying it's all Sanchez fault for Holmes weak numbers. But he plays a role in it.

Can anyone see a situation where we can some how control his antics? I dont know who it was but someone kept him in check last year or was it because it was a contract year for him?
