WR is always a luxury position, no matter what the team is. We have bigger holes to fill, and can fill WR later. 1st round can be better spent. Stop with the WR nonsense. Win in the trenches, then build out. WR's not the biggest problem is what I mean, and it's not. Don't argue that point because you'd be wrong.
It has to be a stud OL DE or OLB at that slot. Despite not have any amazing RBs on the roster we do have 2 viable options in Green and McKnight. Green cant catch a cold so McKnight is going to have to fill LTs role and do it quick and efficiently. We have to get Powell on the field too to see what he's got. Next preseason we'll see a lot of him and will have a better feel. So I'm firmly against taking a RB in the draft until the OL is blocking.
Unfortunately, between FA and the Draft, there aren't a whole lot of Safeties available. Having said that, maybe we should gamble on Michael Griffin or throw a bunch of $ at LaRon Landry. I would also bring back Braylon. If both of these moves are made, then we'd be going into the Draft having already secured 2 starters, 1 on each side of the ball. Then, at 15, I'd pray that Courtney Upshaw drops to us; if that's not the case, then maybe Dont'a Hightower. The result of these 3 moves would be an addition of 3 definite starters, and for all intent & purposes, that's a pretty successful Offseason.
I agree with TUB. Drafting players who contribute immediately is paramount. No more "projects" because clearly there's no time for that.
I'd like to trade down and get quality starters at RT and LB. Or maybe continue the legacy and get Nick Toon in the late first. Wish Mangini was still in the league. He could help us get rid of Holmes.

If a team has too many spots to fix for just one draft/off season, then you have to follow the play progression and start fixing from the top down. 1- OC calls a workable play based on game prep, game conditions, and talent available to him. (Jets need a lot of work here) 2- QB commands huddle, relays play to team mates, checks formations at the line, barks out his cadence, takes the snap. (Sanchez pretty good here, may need more command of the huddle) 3- Center determines and conveys protection scheme based on play call and defensive alignments. (Mangold good here). 4- Ball snapped, O-Line, TE, and RB provides 2.5-3.0 seconds of protection against D-Line, stunts, blitzes. (Jets gotta get this one fixed) 5- Receivers run correct, crisp routes, on same page with QB, gain separation. (Jets need work here) 6- QB scans field, checks down from primary receiver if necessary, makes accurate throw. (Sanchez is fine with the 'check down' part, but needs serious work on the accuracy part) 7- Receiver makes the catch and gains YAC. Avoids goofy celebrations in the EZ. (hard to grade this one due to breakdowns on #1, 4, 5, 6 above). Based on this, the sequence for fixing the team is: OC, O-Line, QB (maybe just competition and good b/u) and then Receivers. Gotta start at the top of the progression and work to the end. Drafting a great receiver without fixing the OC and O-Line won't help much.:beer:

From what I've seen Upshaw is around a 20th pick. Id love to have him then go rambo in 2nd round if its projected he will still be there.
No. Brick has been less effective because the Jets have had to roll protections to the right to cover for Hunter. Plus, my understanding of OT play is that it's like trying to do everything with your off hand if you move from one side to the other.
I don't care how good he is, I don't want him. I can't stand the idea of listening to Rex's pressers with The Terminator on one side of the ball and Rambo on the other.
Rolling Coverage to the right explains alot to many 1v1's all year vs some studs Im just saying if there is a player there why not do the SHUFFLE!
Hopefully they trade down to the 25 or so and take Zach Brown or Cordy Glenn, maybe improving 2nd round position enough in the process to get Mark Barron if he drops. The Jets need to fill two major holes on 1 and 2 this year and they can't afford to trade up and they can't afford to miss on either pick. They need quality players in quantity.
