Sanchez has played 20 more games the Stafford. Thanks for pointing out the facts that's Sanchez is not that good.

Durability counts and Stafford also plays more than half his games in domes and has Calvin Johnson.

It is a bad comparison. Stafford still hasn't won a playoff game.

I think he's saying Stafford has better circumstances.

Though even if the Jets had a Calvin type WR, we'd never know if he can catch a long pass because the offense never throws deep.

We did when we had Braylon here and Mark throws a good deep pass (ie the Keller pass in the Eagles game)

Sanchez isn't anywhere near the quarterback Stafford is. And it's not even close. That isn't to say Sanchez is bad or you guys made a mistake. There is a reason Stafford was the 1st overall pick. The guy has an incredible arm. Of course Calvin Johnson helps him, but stafford also helps Johnson. You gotta give a guy some credit for throwing over 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns. And no Stafford doesn't have the playoff success, but he got his team to the playoffs this year which should count for something.

But, back to you guys not making the wrong decision. If Stafford was on the board at the time it would've been the wrong move, but he wasn't. You guys needed a quarterback and you took what you thought was the best available, and so far, you might've been right. It's kinda like the 2005 draft for the dolphins. They needed a runningback desperately. We had the choice of Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, and Cedric Benson. We took Ronnie Brown at #2 I believe. Obviously he never lived up to that, but out of the 3 we had a choice of, he's probably had the best career (which isn't saying much). It was just a very very weak draft. So you could say Ronnie was a major bust, which he partially was, but you can't really say we necessarily made the wrong decision as far as picking a position of need. It's kinda the same for you guys and Sanchez.

Let's see what Stafford does in the playoffs before we compare him to Sanchez. The only playoff team they beat all year was 8-8 Denver.

The media crucified Eli and labeled him a bust for years until he shut them up, only Sanchez can stop the hate by tossing this team on his back and leading us to the promised land.

You guys are out of control with the "Sanchez has 4 playoff wins" arguement when comparing him to other young QB's who have played on teams with far less talent than the Jets.

For the record, the only thing Sanchez did in the Jets 4 playoff wins was manage the game and not make dumb mistakes. He hardly "led the Jets to 4 playoff wins".

If you saw Stafford's performance last Sunday in Green Bay, you wouldn't even mention Stafford and Sanchez in the same sentence. Stafford will be an elite QB in the NFL in the very near future.

You might want to stick to the Sanchez-Freeman comparisons where you have a better arguement.

Thank You. This is spot on..... and for a Fins fan too
There have been some threads comparing the 2 since they were drafted, but in reality, you'd have to be a homer to say Sanchez is better.
Stafford was touted as being a top NFL pick when he was in frickin High School, and was the assumed to be the #1 pick when he came out of GA long before he was finished playing College ball.
Granted no one knows how he'd respond to the NYC spotlight or if he'll step up in the playoffs or choke like Manning did for years, but his ceiling has always been higher than Sanchez's and that's why he was the #1 pick which the JETS had no shot in aquiring, so it's not fair to make that comparison.
The fair comparison would be with Freeman, as that was their other potential choice, but he also took a HUGE step back this season.

The JETS had a good team, but was missing the most important piece thanks to Favre, so they almost had to make the move for Sanchez. The concern was that Freeman's "floor" was lower than Sanchez's, and maturity concerns to be thrown into a team with high expectations.

In retrospect, did anyone expect a SUPER GREEN (given his lack of NCAA exp.) rookie step up with his best performances in the postseason? It looked like it was the right move, but unfortunately he has looked like GARBAGE this year. He's not the only young QB that has taken a step back this year so, it would be imprudent to toss him aside, disregarding the flashes he's shown the past 2 seasons.

They went all in, time to ride it out and weather the storm. Hopefully it works out longterm.... we'll see

you aren't multiple playoff games a year w/o quality QB play.

Stafford's performance in a meaningless game for GB that Rodgers didn't play in? against a bad defense? I was very impressed he led them to the loss.

Do I think Sanchez is better than Stafford right now? absolutely not but this notion that Sanchez sucks b/c he had a few bad games down the stretch isn't fair and let's see what Stafford can do this week in the playoffs, Sanchez helped us beat the 2 hottest teams in the NFL the last 2 years int he div rd, let's see if Stafford can win a WC game.

Hmmm, didn't Sanchez play 2 games this year against a team that had a worse defense than the Packers?

Were you impressed there as well?

I'm pretty sure Detroits defense went up against Matt Flynn, not Stafford. If your going to say that, than you can say that Mark Sanchez lost to Tim Tebow who is arguably the worst starting quarterback in the NFl. Stafford put a beating on Tebow.

they did, the point of bringing up the backup QB shows you it was meaningless to GB. Let's see what he does this week. He doesn't have to win but he has to play well like Sanchez has in all 6 of his playoff games.
