Let me preface this by saying that I'm not necessarily advocating for this, but I'm curious as to what it would take to trade up for Blackmon. My knowledge of how to move up in the draft (roughly 10 spots?) is minimal.
This is a slghtly outdated value chart for NFL draft picks. It's outdated because with flatter salaries the higher picks are actually worth a bit more than they used to be. http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php The value on the chart to trade from 16 to 6 is equivalent to the 31 pick overall. It's also equivalent to the 16, 48 and 80, which would be our 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks.
And teams aren't anxious to trade picks anymore because the investment is minimal compared to how it used to be.
Blackmon raised his stock even more with that performance yesterday. It would take more than 10 spots, Blackmon will be gone by #6. The Jets would have to trade up to #2 to secure Blackmon. The Jets' #16 pick, next years' Rd 1 pick and a 3rd round pick, is my opinion of the compsentation...that's a lot to give up. If St Louis trades their #2 pick, which is very possible, Washington, Cleveland and Miami would be huge candidates for RG3. If St Louis holds on to the #2, I could see them taking Blackmon, he's a top 5 prospect and STL could use another weapon.
St. Louis has to take Kalil, IMO. Their line got Bradford killed. No sense having a WR if they don't have a QB to throw to him. They may be able to get Reggie Wayne if they want to pay... They may be able to swap with the Redskins and take Reiff at the new spot.
I'm just not a big Kalil fan, he's very good, not elite. I think St Louis could trade down a few picks and still get Kalil.
Not worth it... He's a great prospect, but we would be giving up a shit load to get him, and the state of this team is not one where a single player will fill that major need and push us to a SB
Gotta agree with you here, while kalil has been solid I just dont think he warrants the #2 pick overrall. You rarely get a chance at a top 5 pick, I think you have to take those opportunities to draft a playmaker. The Rams are a team that needs alot more than one player so I for one would trade the pick.
They could probably trade down and get Martin, but Kalil is a top 5 pick As for the OP, I would not spend my draft to get Blackmon especially if our QB situations is in flux
how to get Blackmon? one of three ways, a. runs a 4.7 plus forty b. fails a drug test c. gets arrested
Well seeing as how hes already been arrested I still dont see either one of those other two things dropping his stock low enough for him to be around when we pick
I said a few picks, 2 or 3, and get Kalil. Kalil is overrated to be drafted #2. Kalil is a solid player, but isn't elite, he's not going to be a pro-bowl player. IMO, Kalil shouldn't be a top 5 pick, but some team, based on need will draft him in the top 5. Kalil is probably valued at around where Tyron Smith went last year. In fact, over the last 4 years the OT's drafted in the Top 10 aren't anything special, some are good, but not great. Tyron Smith.....overrated (Kalil is better) Trent Williams.......way overrated, #4 please, give me a break Russell Okung...jury still out, inconsistent. Some like him, I don't. Anthony Davis..overrated and over drafted. Jason Smith...hasn't lived up to a high pick. Andre Smith....enough said Eugene Monroe...Is he a tackle or a guard?? A good player but not top 10. Jake Long was the Best OT drafted in the top 10 the last 4 years. The OT use to be a strenght at the top of the draft, not recently. The athletic defensive players have moved up to take control of the top of the draft...players like Von Miller, Patrick Peterson.....
