Would anyone have any interest in hiring either or both? Bill Polian is one of the best GMs of the last 30 years. He's getting older, and I think only worked part time for Indy, but he's forgotten more about talent and player evaluation than Tanny will ever know. I don't know anything much about Chris, but if he's even half as good as his father, he'll be the best GM in Jets history and the team will win at least a Super Bowl or two. If I'm Woody, I fire Tanny tomorrow and hire Bill and Chris immediately.
Remove Peyton Manning from the last 10 years and it's hard to say at all what this guy's resume would have been like. The game is much different today than it was in the 90's.
Remove Tom Brady from the last 10 years and it's hard to say at all what Belichick's resume would have been like.
Fair... but I don't think you can count 2001 when Brady came off the bench, or the year with Cassel and they went 11-5. I mean, the reason the Patriots can't seem to win in the playoffs anymore is because they have no defense and a killer offense.... BB was master of the defensive scheme but I think he's hurting without Scott Pioli to judge the talent.
You are retarded if u think Bill Polian is better than Tanny. Bill Polian created the 2011 Colts, capable of doing nothing worthwhile. He had a ONE man team. Zero talent worth winning shit around him and this season proved it.
Bill Polian built the Bills of the late 80's, 90's and the colts of the 2000's. You cannot judge him on just one year. His drafts picks are almost legendary Bruce smith, Thurman Thomas, Andre reed, Marvin harrison, Peyton manning, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis and Bob Sanders. There are more but he has done a great job for 3 decades and has nothing to be ashamed of.
Bill Polian would get chewed up by the NY media. He's had problems with the media and his bosses everywhere he's went.
He only needed a one man team (even though that is ridiculously wrong on your part) until that one man went down. Harrison didn't count? Saturday doesn't count? Wayne? Garcon? Seems they had a pretty good TE until he got hurt too. It would be fair to say he built a team with only one HOF QB but since he hadn't missed a game in 13 years I would give him some slack on that one.
which only validates the firing of Polian. even accepting the ridiculous notion of dismissing Belichick's role in their success, the Pats still had a successful season because they had a GM who either had a talented roster or a great head coach capable of winning despite losing arguably the best QB in the league. the Colts, on the other hand, either had a shitty roster but a good head coach, a good roster and a shitty head coach, or a shitty head coach and a shitty roster -- all of which are Polian's choices.
